SS OU WP Latios Screens HO

This is my first RMT on Smogon.

Latios (M) @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Agility
- Stored Power
- Aura Sphere
I wanted to build a team around Stored Power Latios. Agility is good for outspeeding a lot of things, and Aura Sphere is very useful for hitting Dark and Steel-types. Weakness Policy really helps Stored Power get going, and Calm Mind is further setup.

Mew @ Focus Sash
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Spikes
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Explosion
Every good HO needs a suicide lead, and Focus Sash is helpful for setting up one last hazard before Mew dies, or for exploding. Spikes and Stealth Rock are hazards, and Explosion does good damage if I have already set up all the hazards.
bisharp.gif

Bisharp @ Black Glasses
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Swords Dance
Bisharp is a great physical attacker, and it has quite a lot of Dark-type moves so I gave it Black Glasses. Knock Off and Iron Head are good STABs, and Swords Dance is setup.

grimmsnarl.gif

Grimmsnarl (M) @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Taunt
- Spirit Break
Grimmsnarl is my screens setter, and Light Clay is very helpful because it keeps the dual screens up for longer. Light Screen and Reflect are dual screens, which are useful so Latios takes less damage if Weakness Policy gets triggered.

volcarona.gif

Volcarona @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Flamethrower
- Bug Buzz
- Psychic
Volcarona is a great special attacker, with Quiver Dance as setup and Flamethrower and Bug Buzz as STAB. Psychic is good coverage for things such as Toxapex, and Heavy-Duty Boots helps Volcarona not take a ton of damage from Stealth Rock.

urshifu-rapidstrike.gif

Urshifu-Rapid-Strike @ Choice Band
Ability: Unseen Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Surging Strikes
- Close Combat
- Aqua Jet
- U-turn
Urshifu-Rapid-Strike is a good band attacker, and Surging Strikes and Close Combat are both good STABs. Aqua Jet is good for finishing off an opponent and U-turn is for pivoting. Urshifu is a great physical attacker in addition to Bisharp and punches holes in the opponent's team.

Threats:

Corviknight is one thing I'm struggling with as it can tank most of my hits then heal back with Roost.

Hey there, cool team and very solid overall!

My main criticisms are that you don't have an electric immunity and are lacking immediate speed control outside of the not always reliable Sucker punch and the admittedly decent aqua jet (but urshifu can't use that freely all the time due to choice lock), which makes your team fairly weak to fast electrics, particularly Zeraora and Tapu Koko, and also Dragon-type setup sweepers like Dragonite.

Should I add something like Landorus-T or Garchomp?

Lando nowadays is typically only used as a suicide lead but i think Mew fits the role better and you already have it on your team. maybe an SD set for lando if you choose it.

The other options are like Bulk Up Zeraora, or SD Scale shot Chomp.

And from there, you have to decide what you want to replace and restructure for the team.

It seems like Latios, Bisharp, and Grimsnarl are mandatory for your team, as Latios is what you are building around and is a good check to Sun teams and Rain , Bisharp is great as a Pult and Weavile Check and punishes opposing defog, and Grimsnarl is your Taunter and screens setter and additional pult check who is a big threat to Screens HO.

Mew is a great suicide lead and gives Rocks a hazard stack for you to supplement the screens

So that leaves two slots for either Zeaora/Chomp and then one mon to patch holes.

if you go the chomp/Zeroara route, you could then maybe go Scarf Fini in the last slot over Urshifu with Trick Dual Stabs and a Filler option of your choice as you probably won't be clicking Defog often when you have your own screens and dual hazards. Trick lets Fini drop its choice item so you can cripple an opposing wall and is a decent threat to threats like Dragonite, and so it can offset the momentum drain a Choice locked mon can have on HO teams.

Another option is to drop the suicide lead and focus on the Screens , freeing up Mew's slot for an additional sweeper/wallbreaker.

So depends on how you want to restructure. I can see quite a few possible variants to test.

I do want to keep Volcarona, as it is effective against Corviknight, but I'll consider replacing Urshifu with Garchomp or Fini.

if You run Garchomp, run Fire Fang or Fire Blast coverage. probably Fire Fang as it should be able to get up a SD or 2 under screens to hit Corviknight hard enough, it also lures buzzowle alongside, the metal birds to give Bisharp an even easier time

If you're worried about corviknight , I think garchomp is a stronger pick given the nature of your team. Volcarona does beat corviknight and can set up on it unless brave bird I guess , but typically they won't keep corviknight in , whereas corviknights are more likely to stay in on Garchomp and then you lure them with the boosted fire fang. However that isn't to say volcarona doesn't have its perks.

If you run garchomp plus fini that could be a very strong combo but I worry about you only then having 3 sweepers. It would cover most of your holes , but there would still be a weakness to Tapu Koko, but I think that would be the only threat. You could run something like a roseli berry on Garchomp for it though, and factoring in screens you could be good. So it's definitely worth testing.

That said, if volcarona plus garchomp gives you enough protection against Koko in practice you can try that too.

You can also try volcarona plus scarf fini and see how it works.

An electric immunity is almost mandatory so I highly recommend it , but on teams with sufficient electric resists or counterplay to it you can get away with it. But I still recommend it for this build as is because you pretty weak to threats like zeroara and Koko and to lesser extent regieleki and the dragons. I think garchomp plus fini cuts down the threats well though
