hello smogoff,

i noticed there's no official worm posting thread on this site and, to me, that is just reprehensible. I'm still learning about worms of course and I am no expert on worms, but i figured i could share my favorite worms to start :)

detritus worm
worm detritus.png

this here is a detritus worm, also known as tubifex, sludge worm, sewage worm, or my personal favorite, boogie worm. these little guys live in the soil of lakes, riverbeds, streams, and god knows where else. they're cool and iconic because they stick out of the soil and wiggle (boogie) to obtain oxygen. detritus worms are also funny little guys who like to pull fun pranks, as shown by this video below:

here we see the detritus worms clump together and then jiggle around as one uniform mass in a North Carolina sewage system. resident onlookers were SHOCKED to see such a seemingly horrific and disturbing creature, which was later aptly named the "Carolina poop monster." despite this shock and horror, detritus worms and their cheeky ways hold a place in fans hearts like my friend jon here

flat worm

to explain the flat worm and its cultural significance to myself, i first need to tell you all of a personal anecdote. a few months ago, i had planted a pothos cutting in a jar. all was fine and well until one morning a saw a white worm-like shape pressing against the glass of the jar. naturally, i made a post on the subreddit r/jarririums
fuzzy worm.jpg

but then i proceeded to get publically shamed in the comments of the post because it turns out the worm was actually just a root

anyway there's a bunch of different flatworms and they range from being simple little nice worm guys to parasitic worms oh no

let me know your favorite worms and worm stories i can't wait to discuss worms with you all

My favorite little dude is the bobbit worm
They can grow up to 3 meters long or around 4 feet, are ambush predators that can grab and kill a fish in an instant, can bite a humans finger clean off, and are demons from hell.

I also like isopods but they don’t really count
Hmmmmm.... I mean the giant Mongolian sand worm is pretty neat. Pretty big dude, luckily I have a post that contains a guide on how to kill them.
