- Psycho Shift allows Sigilyph to hinder walls and attackers alike with a burn thanks to its Flame Orb, and it pairs well with Calm Mind, letting it set up more easily.
- Air Slash is chosen over Psychic as to not get walled by Dark-types like Guzzlord and especially Incineroar.
- Calm Mind allows Sigilyph to break through bulkier foes like Incineroar and Suicine.
- As Xurkitree and Raikou heavily threaten Sigilyph, breaking through it easily, it necessitates Ground-type partners that can deal with them like Steelix for the former, Gastrodon for the ladder, or Flygon to check them both.
- It also struggles a bit with breaking through Dark-types like Umbreon and Incineroar, so partners that can take advantage of them like Heracross and Swords Dance Pangoro and Bewear.
- Steel-types are also a bother for Sigilyph. Even though it can hinder them with a Psycho Sihift burn, it prefers teammates that can clear them like Flygon, the aformentioned Fighting-types, and Chandelure-who also helps with crippling Dark-types.
