SPOILERS! Scarlet & Violet Leaks Thread - Data/Mechanics

That's not a direct nerf, though. If you use that reasoning they could've let Gale Wings be Gale Wings and just made more Dazzling/Queenly Majesty/Psychic Surge 'mons and gotten a similar effect.
You know there's a reason for which this is a meme right

Indirect nerfs work just fine.

Incineroar was the only intimidater to see that much usage, and only because it doesn't "just" intimidate, Incineroar in VGC is the whole package. Intimidate, U-turn, great typing, fake out, stab Flare Blitz for zacian, massive utility pool with Snarl and Parting Shot, solid all around bulk on top of high attack even if uninvested.

Intimidate got "nerfed" indirectly well enough.
Simply Incineroar was SO good that just nerfing its ability wasn't enough.

If you want a intimidater this gen, have fun using Arcanine of the Parakeet though. Sure they'll match well against the paragons.

There's also Salamence, Gyarados and...Qwilfish I think?

It got Crunch and Throat chop. The only "better dark move" in term of pure power Moon could resonably get (aka "not wicked blow") is Darkest lariat. Roaring moon got one of the best physical dark stab. It is a type problem, not a him problem. And 80BP 100% accuracy is still pretty decent. Sucker punch or Knock off would have been nice tho.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see a pokemon with Darkest Lariat. Is it removed from the game?

Probably a handful more, but I don't see any of the qwilfish forms having any usage, and Salamence without its Mega doesn't really strike me as a good VGC mon, sure it's a bulky tailwind setter but there are better options than a 4x ice weak in a meta that may actually see ice types being used.

As of now it's not present in any moveset, though as far as I remind the move is tecnically in the game

I don't play VGC so I don't know anything about how it was there but I can't believe simply are really waxing nostalgic about Smogonbird.

Talking about VGC, Golduck having Nast Plot is just INSANE...
I'd say, it would have been insane 3 game releases ago.

Sadly, I'm quite confident "double duck" isn't going to be a thing this gen.

Talonflame in gen 6 was also a VGC staple, with every other team having it.

On top of what it already did in smogon, it also featured basically Prankster Tailwind. Also Groudon being one of the most used legendaryes and smogonbirb casually being a fire type

That's true I did not took any look at the new pokemons for a future VGC meta, so i'm not aware of what could be done with Tera and new pokemons, but I don't know, it always seems scary, at least as soon as the game release and people tried things, with a non stable meta.

Well the thing is, Teralyze has same "issue" as Dynamax: since every pokemon can use it... you'd rather invest in Pokemon that can actually win you the match, rather than just a un-mon from the depths of Z-tier that requires the entire team to be made for it on top of a free turn of setup and loses to BOTH main conditions (sun/electric) :tymp:

I mean sure, I can promise you there'll be some random youtuber who'll make videos with Terastal Dudunsparce 1v4ing some low ladder players, but I can promise you that at actually relevant levels, Tera will be reserved for offensive powerhouses that can click it and nuke something without requiring anything else.

For the VGC players looking here right now, the last Ally Switchers now that it's no longer a TM are Farigiraf, Spiritomb, Cresselia, Hoopa, Polteageist, Meowscarada, Houndstone, Armarouge, Ceruledge and Espathra. Hoopa is largely irrelevant but Cresselia, Houndstone, Farigiraf and Meowscarada could still be pretty toxic

No 4x ice weakness so it isn't immediately revenge killed by Pao or Weavile at +2/+1 as well. It certainly has major issues and will need help in the form of a couple bans but I don't see this thing remaining indefinitely in a healthy OU. It and Sneasler are best friends.
Honestly, will either be an issue?
Pao looks like instant ban material with that -1 Def and Weavile loses Knock Off so it won't be as prominent as in Gen 8.

I wonder if chilling water could be pretty useful for a special Coalossal to help it in VGC?
Eh, Coalassal in general is unlikely to see play without Dynamax. Without the 2x HP to actually stomach even the worst water hits (like, iirc people used to do Surf with tyranitar or dragapult lol), it's hard to get it going.

HOWEVER, Coalassal *is* one of these pokemon I can actually see making use of Terastal to change in a typing that can eat that water hit, since the payoff can be good enough.

Yeah definitely knew it was going to be worse without Dynamax just thought it might be worth looking into.
