Super Smash Bros. Brawl Discussion #2 (spoilers)

I'm loving these two characters. Zelda's "kick" (idk what it's called) is really powerful now.

I don't get these terms.. like "fair" and stuff? what is this exactly?

Fair, or F+air, or forward+air, basically tilting forward while in air. Fox/Falco's Windmill kicks in melee, or Falcon's infamous Knee.

uair, fair, dair, usmash, fsmash, etc. Such is the lingo of which moves are conveyed!

Yeah, what's with all the battles being on the same stages? :|

And ZSS's Final Smash is ridiculously powerful, lol. Awesome how she dragged very into her, then blasted them all away. Nice.

Can't waaiiit any longer for Brawl. D:

Speaking of ZSS' FS, do you think that her FS and Kirby's FS have infinite range? I mean, NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE...THEY WILL CATCH YOU??? Just a thought ^_^.

Hrm, why is everyone doing time battles? Last I remember, you're allowed to edit the rules when playing with friends.

Guess these are all against randoms!

First half is zelda (she looks improved, which is nice), second half is ZSS (who looks like she could be really fun to play as). Also of note is the improved AI on computers. Ike was actually using fairs as a main form of attack.

Lol, oh man, the reach on practically all of ZSS' attacks is insane. A character like Metaknight pretty much didn't stand a chance; especially with ZSS' ability to lash at you from such a safe distance. It's unthinkable O_O!!! Also, near the end of this vid, how many times did she air jump? I was almost baffled at how she came back to the stage so easily. Whoo, she's gonna be all over the place in standard battles!

Sup Wishy! In reference to what you said, you can only edit the rules for a "friend" battle? So, random wifi battles will always be 3mins time, with all items? Jeez, that kinda takes the fun out of having random battles don't you think? I don't mind it; it's just that it would have been preferred if you could alter the rules for random battles. (Of course, now that I think about it, I'm really not sure how that'd work between four people you don't know O_o.)

It would been more complex, like build a system that detects user preferences and so forth... they didn't seem to be willing to do such thing.
Actually, I thought I heard that each player sets their own rules (or rather the items that appear), and it randomly picks one of the four rulesets. I don't think you can change anything else about the match, though...

Hey, is it true that the directional air dodging is gone? Cuz a lot of my friends would be angry if they couldn't wave dash. XD I personally have never been that good at it, so I just battle without it! ^^

Any plans for Smogon to have something similar for Pokemon? Is there anyone who still bothers with WiFi?

Yes. Directional air dodging was confirmed to be gone months ago. Wavedashing is out.

Is it me, or does Toon Link seem... better than regular Link. His moves seem to do a little bit less damage, but he is able to pull the m off quicker and has greater recover than i would have thought. Has anyone found what his Final Smash is by any chance?

I'm pretty sure I've seen items on and off in random matches. Not sure about stocks though, but it looks like you can change for how long the match goes. Man I have a few characters I want to choose from, but Ike seems to be my number 1 priority right now, then Marth, Lucario, and Mario. Something in that order.

Wow Sakurai first secret update was Ness, basically Ness hasn't changed much from what it says at the dojo, and his PK Thunder seem to suck compared to Lucas (except for the strength).

The Wi-Fi Center that chaos has been working on has something that you can basically work on, only using trades. If I'm not mistaken, there's a battle request in the works or something. Just simple stuff.

Looks like dojo updates might actually stay interesting. Sort of. I'll keep checking it simply because with the dojo, it seems to make the wait not as bad, but with the huge surges of info, like the japan release, it just leaves you wanting the game now, if ya know what I mean.

Wow, SWF is really wetting its pants right now. If you read their general discussion board for SSBB, you'll understand immediately.

Edit: Cut last sentence to protect person's ID.

Read the 1up impressions.

Only items can be toggled on/off (individually and frequency as well). All other settings are unalterable. If you press Start after someone joins, you can do 1v1 I believe. No stock matches.

With Friends gives you every option.
