The purpose of this thread is to provide a visual list organized by roles to see what Pokémon do what. This will help new and experienced players alike in finding Pokémon that fit their teams when looking for specific roles. Each Pokemon that is here is viable in the RU metagame, and as such, it will change as the viability rankings get updated. If you feel there is a Pokemon viable for the roles mentioned below and it hasn't been added to the group, then recommend it in your post with solid explanations. The order of roles will be organized in the following way:
  1. Utility (hazard setters and removers)
  2. Offensive roles (wallbreakers, choice item users, and setup sweepers)
  3. Defensive roles (walls)
  4. Threatlist (with checks and counters)
  5. Weather (rain and sand) and Trick Room
Note - Pokemon are sorted in colums in the following categories:
- Common: Easy to fit on teams and use. Minimal support required
- Uncommon: Requires specific support in order to use and easy to go wrong with. But the rewards often outweigh the risk.
- Niche: Requires massive (sometimes playstyle exclusive) support, sacrifices consistency to a concerning extent, or both. Can be functional but proceed with caution.

Note that this is meant to be a very inclusive list of every Pokemon and set that can find a shred of viability in the tier. Expect to see some be phased out as the meta develops. It's amazing to have a role and set compendium out right as the metagame is settling.

I have a few changes I want to propose (mainly for the role compendium):
  • Add Heavy Duty Boots to both Hex and CM Chandelure
  • Add descriptions for the Primarina, Tinkaton, Mega Slowbro EVs
  • Consider Tera Water for Band Tauros Paldea Aqua
  • Scarf Toxtricity has Specs as the item
  • Add Sludge Bomb for Volcanion to hit Primarina and Azumarill

You forgot to add oricorio in speed control section.
 
Hi everyone, I've managed to find the time to update the resources

Role Compendium:
  • Removed :Aerodactyl-Mega::Altaria-Mega::Bisharp::Cresselia::Deoxys-Defense::Iron Leaves::Heat Rock:(sun) due to being banned
  • Removed :Ninetales::Venusaur: due to being unviable (in a post-drought ban meta), also :Donphan: due to it being unviable (I forgot to remove it last update)
  • Removed :Crawdaunt::Hippowdon: due to rising to UU
  • added :Basculegion-F::Blissey::Braviary-Hisui::Cyclizar::Enamorus-Therian::Lilligant-Hisui::Overqwil::Tangrowth::Typhlosion-Hisui:
  • some minor role changes to some mons and some mons moving from niche to viable (and vice versa)
Set Compendium:
  • Removed the illegal mons + :Ninetales: and :Venusaur: due to Drought being banned
  • Added the rest of the ranked mons on the VR as well as the viable* new drops
  • The entire set comp is now sorted by VR Ranking instead of Alphabetically, viable* new drops will be put in the "new section"
  • Altered / removed some sets to be more aligned to the current metagame (ex: :Mandibuzz: no longer speed creeps :Crawdaunt: and Assault Vest :Magnezone: has been removed)
*my own personal opinion until the VR is updated, if you feel that a mon should be added/removed then don't hesitate to speak up.​

Speed Tiers
  • Revamped speed tiers to account for a mons optimal spread instead of the generic 252 or 0 spreads
  • Removed unmons and illegal mons (there were too many to count)
  • added :Basculegion-F::Blissey::Braviary-Hisui::Cyclizar::Enamorus-Therian::Lilligant-Hisui::Overqwil::Tangrowth::Typhlosion-Hisui:
