Why I Think Duskfall Is Weird (A Meta Dissertation)

This section is gonna sound like a case but idk something just feels so off. I feel like this game I’m watching a defanged tiger in Tommy play mafia lmfao, so bear with me.

This is kind of one of the parts where I feel bad because if I'm misinterpreting the wrong things then oh well fuck me right but I just kind of wanna compare and contrast his entrance in this game with some other ones.

I’m not hyperlinking everything but here we go:

Ok so now tommy just goes and talks to people randomly, #304/305 clears up my confusion on something, into #311 which is a question that continues the psy argument, into #315/320/324/335 (335 expresses a tr on psy again)

Tommy is really easygoing at this point, it’s like he just responds to peoples’ comments like #351/357/361/365/359/372 and questions random people like #353

Then he leaves on #385 (p15)

P17-18 is me and tommy just talking about the roleswapper

I’m stopping because I’ve been working on this for a long ass while and it’s almost 4 am but you get the point though. Theres clear READS coming out, the way he interacts with people is entirely different, and when it comes to people tommy wants to solve he works to directly face them in thread, rather than him just being on the side and setup speccing and questioning people. This game it hasn’t felt like that much. Yeah tommy has been putting out reads, or like kind of, but most of the time he chooses to end up in thread, I don't get that same urge to actually work through the game that I feel in these two past games.

These are tommy’s last 3 mafia games fwiw (all within 3 months) and the closest entrance that it FEELS like to this game is really his champs game.

Here are my few caveats and feel free to interact or dismiss this shit. Cos like if he’s town then rip i will look like a fucking idiot. Here’s some margins of error:
1. There could be a world where Tommy is having trouble creating content just cos he got tilted the fuck out of psy or something. But idk no read on me or even interacting with ur homies like wtf. It’s been a full day too and afaik those are his stated reads.

2. I kinda feel like he doesnt have an issue making shit up as scum? In a game on MU april 2022 he just threw reads at the wall when he entered thread. Fwiw he got insta voted and owned d1 there rip but I mean he didnt have trouble locking people in alignment wise - his recent scumgame is was more hedgy whereas that one oozed with confidence. This one is clearly hedgy

3. His real time has been pretty fine. This is where I’m kicking myself for interacting with him because I reread our first 1v1 and I was like shit is this fakable. However kind of erring on caution here, cos while the vibes felt good, tommy has made sharp paragraph style posts within minutes in that game.
 
ah i forgot to add a summary to the end of the champs game but

the opening of that game is so stinted especially in comparison to the rest of the other games, and looks more like this one

he walks away his entrance with a hedged read and a sort of scumread on knightsofcydonia with the use of his vote. he is hyperfixating on his conversation with knights and asking questions on the side whereas the other two games have him hip fire reads rapidly. now surely smogon is too elite and we cannot all just be easy reads, but these are games where tommy afaik doesnt have a meta with a lot of people.

this game too, theres not really any progression or talking through his reads. I get earlier in the game he mentioned having an issue reading people but like, even in any of his latest entrances you cant gleam all that much, and hes not gleaming much back
 
psy - is just town psy from previous games, also is it just me but when i magically am able to read psy posts properly without brain shuting off do they make reasonable sense
oj - i want say good vibes for gut feeling reasons but i would like to see reads on ppl other than psy and ag
skipper - ppl are tring them and for good reason but i have a gut feeling that makes me feel like they could be coached
ag - honestly I really want to put them in scumlean for their psy vote (terrible vote terrible reasoning) but might just be frustrated

might be relying too much on gut feelings but idk
everyone else i have not bothered isoing/reading, too tired

its really just gut feeling but iirc they said theyve just done a lot of casual maf but feels like theyre way more experienced than they described
idk they could just have been modest and undersold their maf experience but like something feels off
 
ngl coachable is a teensy bit hard though, at least when you consider the opening pages (which are probably the stronger reasons for tling skipper or even like ls)

like maf didnt have that much time to prepare for this game so everything would likely have needed to have done live
