Happy with the winner but I wanna point out that Loria was based on Florida, not California, so the regions should be distinct from each other. Just wanna clear that up.
Thank you! Good thing too, I didn’t exactly remembered the origin of Loria, so it sorts out well.Happy with the winner but I wanna point out that Loria was based on Florida, not California, so the regions should be distinct from each other. Just wanna clear that up.
Regarding questions:Questions
- How hard would it be to implement a fifth move slot into Showdown? Because I sure as hell don't know lol. Even if it's possible, you also have to factor in validating if X-move-exclusive moves are actually in the X-move slot, etc. If this gimmick gets vetoed solely because it's not possible in the framework of Showdown, then honestly that's fine by me.
- Should Leppa Berry be able to restore the PP of an X-move? This would really depend on how strong X-move-exclusive moves are going to be. For example, being able to use Hyper Beam twice in a game would be probably be fine, balanced by the opportunity cost of not using a different item like Life Orb, hdb, etc. with more long-term value.
- What's the in-game justification for X-moves? idk man, special space energy in the Desvega region enhances Pokemon's capabilities and allows them to use five moves at once or something (you laugh but this is basically the same explanation for dynamax)
- These are just the questions that immediately came to my head - any future questions from the forum or discord will be added here
You may want to precise if it is a held item mechanic or an itemless one, since it takes precedence from both Z-Moves (require a Z-Crystal to be held) and Dynamax (doesn’t require any held item), in case the coders won’t get things wrong.Name: Max-Zenith
Effect: Take the basics of a Z-Move, make it have the same base power and effect as its Max Move counterpart, there you go.
Universal?: "Yes, with Signatures"
Flavor: If the legends are capable of changing reality, surely they'd pick it up some tricks from somewhere.
Justification: Z-Moves require an held item and can only be used once; Max Moves only rly benefit with the bonus HP, additional immunities and the ability to spam them trice.
this idea seems ridiculously unbalanced. putting aside the unbalanced abilities (anything with simple sd/plot/ddance/qd/smash instantly becomes overpowered, as does likely anything with dragon's maw or water bubble), the scalemons formula just amplifies any minmax an lc has to the max. see krabby, who would get 54/187/161/45/45/89 stats with water bubble. i think forcing every lc to futureproof for getting scaled up sounds pretty silly and would centralize the meta around such mons which doesnt seem stable or aesthetically pleasingName: Promotion Cards
Well, I conceived this for my region, but I'm gonna submit it anyway, as it adapts nicely
Name: Promotion Cards
Effect: There are 13 numbered Promotion Cards and a Jolly, each related to an Egg Group. Each Card has a correlation with an Arcane deity, that once ruled over the Pokemon belonging to the corresponding Egg Group. So, holding one of the Cards, a Pokemon belonging to the corresponding Egg Group will be promoted accordingly: each stat is rescaled to a new BST of 580, and each stat is scaled like
Stat_new = (Stat_old / BST_old) * 580
The Card will then determine the ability of the Promoted Pokémon, as the typing stays the same (specific forms may have a different typing).
This means any Pokemon can be Promoted to a divine form, even NFE or LC (Eevee was one of the specific forms I personally want for this).
1 (Ace) - Field: Simple
2 - Monster: Intimidate
3 - Bug: Compund Eyes
4 - Flying: Aerilate
5 - Fairy: Pixilate
6 - Dragon: Dragon's Maw
7 - Grass: Grassy Surge
8 - Mineral: Sturdy
9 - Human-Like: Scrappy
10 - Amorphous: Wandering Spirit
11 - Water 1: Water Veil
12 - Water 2: Water Absorb
13 - Water 3: Water Bubble
Jolly - Gender unknown (Ditto): Protean
So, for example, let's take Buizel:
Buizel belongs to the Field and Water 1 Egg Groups.
If Buizel is Promoted, its new form will be Water type, its stats will be:
+ + + 55
HP = ----- x 580 = 96
+ + + 330
+ + + 65
Atk = ----- x 580 = 114
+ + + 330
+ + + 35
Def = ----- x 580 = 61
+ + + 330
+ + + 60
SpA = ----- x 580 = 105
+ + + 330
+ + + 30
SpD = ----- x 580 = 52
+ + + 330
+ + + 85
Spe = ----- x 580 = 149
+ + + 330
BST = 96 + 114 + 61 + 105 + 52 + 149 = 577
The base points missing are always added to HP (at best it's 5 points), so its final stats will be:
HP 55 -> 99
Atk 65 -> 114
Def 35 -> 61
SpA 60 -> 105
SpD 30 -> 52
Spe 85 -> 149
BST 330 -> 580
Its ability will be Simple if it's Promoted using the Ace, it will be Water Veil if Promoted using the 11.
Legendary Pokemon will not be able to use these cards (including minor ones, like Birds, Tapus, Genies, Latwins, Event, etc.).
The Promotion is permanent, and it's triggered the first time the Pokémon holding the Card switches in (like Primal Reversion).
Universal?: Yes, with some specific forms (as we all like them).
Flavor: The Cards are 13 + Jolly because they reflect the cards used for Poker (French cards? That's how we call them lol), but they're also inspired to Tarot cards (we can even think of 13+1 UB-like creatures, each reflecting one card). The Promotion though, is inspired to chess. I had the inspiration when someone nominated gambling and casinos, but since I wouldn't risk being accused of promoting it and Pokémon Inc. has stepped far away from that after Gen 4, I want the mechanic to be more related to most famous games in general.
Justification: This basically allows any Pokémon to become viable (eventually, depends on the Pokémon obv), and only needs 14+specific forms sprites. Yes, it may result in some overpowered forms, that we can balance modifying the abilities (that's why I didn't want to establish them definitively), with a gimmick that explicits what GF hasn't really ever said in the games.
Per anaconja’s words, very heavily. Anything that allows LC and NFE Pokémon to have Scalemons effect will do more harm than good for both in-game and the competitive metagames. The overpowered Abilities in some of the Egg Group, namely Simple, Dragon’s Maw and Water Bubble as anaconja already pointed out, will not help the cause at all.this idea seems ridiculously unbalanced. putting aside the unbalanced abilities (anything with simple sd/plot/ddance/qd/smash instantly becomes overpowered, as does likely anything with dragon's maw or water bubble), the scalemons formula just amplifies any minmax an lc has to the max. see krabby, who would get 54/187/161/45/45/89 stats with water bubble. i think forcing every lc to futureproof for getting scaled up sounds pretty silly and would centralize the meta around such mons which doesnt seem stable or aesthetically pleasing
Maybe make it so single-Ability Pokémon simply gets both Technician and Filter (or just Technician)° alongside their single Ability? This allows a lot of Levitate Pokémon, including Rotom-Fan, to be more versatile by boosting their coverage moves that would be too weak to be helpful and resist super-effective hits better. It will also help Pokémon with only one Ability that changes forme, and Palafin‘s already Uber material so we don’t have to worry about that one’s Jet Punch.Name: Ability Drift
Effect: On activating a button akin to Tera / Dynamax / etc, your active Pokémon gains the effect of all of its possible Abilities. Once per battle, lasts until the Pokémon faints. Once this is active, the Pokémon's Ability cannot be traded, copied, or suppressed in any way.
Universal?: Yes
Flavor: The reality-warping legendaries can allow Pokémon to "drift" into multiple possible versions of themselves at once, giving them the effect of all of their Abilities.
Justification: An effect like this naturally only has a few Pokémon that are really well-equipped to make use of it, but that's design space that submitters can build their Fakemon submissions around.
Possible ways to handle single-Ability Pokémon:
- cannot make use of the mechanic
- can make use of it so their Ability can't be suppressed but that's generally sort of a waste
- gain a new Ability on a case-by-case basis?
- gain a new generic Ability?
- gain some other sort of boost instead?
name: mega evolution
effect: its mega evolution
universal: no its mega evolution
flavor: its mega evolution
justification: mega evolution is cool and can give more dimensions to a mon
It’s fine to nominate the returning gimmick but you may want to precise whether or not old Mega Evolutions (official and / or Loria) / old signature Z-Moves will return or not, to avoid any confusion.Name: Z-Moves
Effect: Z-Moves
Universal?: Yes, with Signatures.
Flavor: Z-Moves
Justification: Z-Moves are probably one of the more balanced gimmicks from the games.
