Project SV OU - Victim of the Week (Week 70: Calm Mind Enamorus-I)

CHECK

:sv/sneasler:

Sneasler (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Poison Touch
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Fighting
Jolly Nature
- Dire Claw
- Close Combat
- Fire Punch
- U-turn

Pivot set is the one I picked here but honestly you can run whatever you want here as long as you got Dire Claw since Sneasler naturally outruns and one-shots this Enamorus set no matter what they do. It can even live an unboosted earth power as well if for whatever reason you want to try and hard switch Sneasler in.

252 Atk Sneasler Dire Claw vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Enamorus: 354-416 (122.4 - 143.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 SpA Enamorus Earth Power vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Sneasler: 242-286 (80.3 - 95%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

God damnit my post broke. Hate mobile. It's spd gholdengo, lemmy repost the set smh.

Specially defensive gholdengo is a COUNTER to cm enamorus as it tanks its hits, has reliable recovery, can status, can hard switch on it, can tera to avoid tera kills, and ohkos enamorus on the hard switch 50% of the time if it gets to +1.

A slight issue now is that your submission got taken, gotta find something else now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

:sv/scizor:
Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 236 HP / 252 Atk / 20 Spe
Tera Type: Steel / Electric
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Close Combat
- Thief / Tera Blast

Scizor is a check. Thanks to its typing, it can take any of Enamorus' attacks except Mystical Fire at least once from full and threaten it with a OHKO via banded Bullet Punch. Even if Enamorus has already set up, it needs to get to at least +3 before anything else it has threatens to KO from full.

Tera Blast can also OHKO if you're running that, with the added bonus of avoiding the OHKO from Mystical Fire, but the threat of Bullet Punch is usually enough to cut an Enamorus sweep short. Also, the changes to Scizor's resistances that Tera provides can allow Enamorus to threaten an OHKO after even one Calm Mind boost, which is something to consider.

Ability: Poison Touch
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 HP / 96 Atk / 160 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Poison Jab

- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch

Alolan Muk can only switch in a few times, however, poison jab is able to ohko enamorus and +1 earth power does not 2hko. Poison jab + poison touch is also extremely annoying because it has an over 50% chance to poison.

96+ Atk Muk-Alola Poison Jab vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Enamorus: 290-344 (100.3 - 119%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Counter (Soft)

corviknight-best-flying-type-pokemon-in-scarlet-and-violet.jpg

Corviknight @ Leftovers
Ability: Mirror Armor
EVs: 248 HP/8 Def/252 SpD
Careful Nature
Tera-Type: Water
- Iron Head
- Roost
- Bulk Up
- Taunt

It might not be a wise idea to Defog with it any more, but Corviknight can still be a valuable tank for the team, especially if you need to answer CM Enamorus. It resists Moonblast, and always dodges Earth Power in between Roosts due to normally under-speeding it. Specially Defensive Corviknight completely shuts down Enamorus lacking Mystical Fire, and can even take it on if it has it, provided Mirror Armor is in place of Pressure.

Mirror Armor transfers any stat drops Corviknight would otherwise receive from an attack back to the attacker, which is helpful for Mystical Fire in particular due to it always cutting into Special Attack. This in turn means that Enamorus will have to Calm Mind again if it wants to get back up to strength, buying time for Corviknight to Bulk Up alongside it. However, the reason Corviknight is only a soft counter is because the initial Mystical Fire will hurt; especially if Enamorus gets a Calm Mind Up before launching it.

252 SpA Enamorus Mystical Fire vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Corviknight: 136-160 (34 - 40.1%) -- 35% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 SpA Enamorus Mystical Fire vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Corviknight: 204-240 (51.1 - 60.1%) -- 88.3% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Thankfully, Corviknight can retaliate with an OHKO on Enamorus should it get a +1 Iron Head off

+1 0 Atk Corviknight Iron Head vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Enamorus: 308-366 (106.5 - 126.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

The other features are straight forward; Roost for longevity, Taunt to put a temporary stop to further Calm Minds, and Tera-Water in case you don't like your odds of surviving the initial Mystical Fire. Tera-Water is recommended over Tera-Dragon because, although the latter provides an Electric resistance as well as a Fire resistance, it also opens you up to a super-effective Moonblast, which hits a lot a harder and doesn't always drop Special Attack like Mystical Fire does. On top of that, Enamorus will never run Grass Knot and Mystical Fire at the same time, so you should be safe from the former anyway, so long as you never Tera before seeing the latter.

Moonlight provides reliable recovery, and Moonblast lets it chip at Dark-type Pokemon that are immune to Stored Power. Tera Poison makes Cresselia immune to Toxic, with Levitate removing one of its main weaknesses in Ground. What Pokemon can stop her?

COUNTER

This is my hoopa NP set :
Hoopa @ Leftovers
Ability: Magician
Tera Type: Fighting
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Psychic
- Focus Blast
- Nasty Plot

I've tried this set quite a bit in the meta and it's viable on pivot heavy teams that need a hard to kill wallbreaker. This set's main use is setting up nasty plots and destroying anything that is slower than it. It 2hkos cress at +0 while taking 15% at most back. It easily switches in on cress too for gigantic damage on the mon they attempt to block the incoming nuke with if they want to preserve the cress, along with outpacing cress's setup with lefties healing as it heals and attempts to match boosts so you never are in risk of death. Mobile sucks so I can't post calcs without risking my post breaking, but you can run them if you'd like. It eats +3 cress moves without a 2hko.

- Will-O-Wisp
- Hex
- Slack Off

As long as you remember to switch Skeledirge immediately into Cresselia, Skeledirge wins. Unaware means that all Cresselia's Calm Mind does is boost Stored Power, and it takes huge Calm Mind stacks to even 2HKO:
0 SpA Cresselia Stored Power (20 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Skeledirge: 16-19 (3.8 - 4.6%) -- possibly the worst move ever
+1 0 SpA Cresselia Stored Power (60 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Unaware Skeledirge: 45-54 (10.9 - 13.1%) -- possible 8HKO

Skeledirge chunks Cresselia harder and harder every turn Cresselia needs to Calm Mind or heal, and Tera Poison won't save Cresselia if you remember to prioritize Torch Song:
8 SpA Unaware Skeledirge Torch Song vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Cresselia: 81-96 (18.2 - 21.6%) -- possible 7HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 8 SpA Unaware Skeledirge Torch Song vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Cresselia: 121-144 (27.2 - 32.4%) -- 64.7% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Standard Bulk Up set, but with Speed EVs tailored to outspeed the set for the faster Taunt. All you need to do is get Ceruledge in on the first Calm Mind, and from thereon Ceruledge can set up in Cresselia's face and 1v1. At 1 Calm Mind cress can't chip down Ceruledge because of Bitter Blade's healing, and cress can't attempt to stall the Bitter Blade PP either because of the faster Taunt shutting down Moonlight.

Tinkaton @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
Tera Type: Flying/Dark
EVs: 252 HP / 124 Atk / 132 SpD
Careful Nature
- Encore
- Knock Off
- Gigaton Hammer
- Swords Dance

Although it can be a bit reliant on encore to beat cresselia 1v1, it can always switch into cresselia, and it needs less turns of setup than cresselia to beat it so its a counter
0 SpA Cresselia Stored Power (20 BP) vs. 252 HP / 134+ SpD Tinkaton: 7-9 (1.8 - 2.4%) -- possibly the worst move ever
0 SpA Cresselia Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 134+ SpD Tinkaton: 21-25 (5.6 - 6.6%) -- possibly the worst move ever
+1 0 SpA Cresselia Stored Power (60 BP) vs. 252 HP / 134+ SpD Tinkaton: 29-35 (7.7 - 9.3%) -- possibly the worst move ever

As you can see, Tinkaton easily switches into Cresselia before it sets up, and can easily use it as opportunity to use Swords Dance.
Encore punishes any uses of Calm Mind or Moonlight, so Cresselia can't attempt to set up and healing becomes a risk thanks to Tinkaton being faster. Cresselia will need at least 3 calm minds before it can threaten Tinkaton.
+3 0 SpA Cresselia Stored Power (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 134+ SpD Tinkaton: 114-135 (30.4 - 36%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
So yeah, theres multiple opportunities to punish Cresselia by either attacking or using Encore.

Tinkaton EVs are specifically to deal with Cresselia and to be a nuisance to bulkier pokemon, being as bulky as possible, hitting hard and punishing the use of status moves with encore, the EVs allow you to 2hko Cresselia with a +2 Gigaton Hammer, assuming the Leftovers have already been knocked off.

+2 124 Atk Mold Breaker Tinkaton Gigaton Hammer vs. 252 HP / 200+ Def Cresselia: 222-262 (50 - 59%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Even if Cresselia still has its Leftovers, Knock Off can be used on the turn Gigaton Hammer is disabled. Knock Off is also just an easy move to use since it gives value even if Cresselia switches out.
As for tera type, you could use tera dark to boost Knock Off damage and be immune to Stored Power, but then you're weak to Moonblast, tera flying is a generally good defensive type for Tinkaton, although you don't want Tinkaton to tera infront of Cresselia anyways.

+2 0 SpA Cresselia Stored Power (100 BP) vs. 252 HP / 132+ SpD Heatran: 65-77 (16.8 - 19.9%) -- possible 7HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 0 SpA Cresselia Stored Power (60 BP) vs. 252 HP / 132+ SpD Heatran: 29-35 (7.5 - 9%) -- possibly the worst move ever

The biggest downside to this is magma pp and magma misses and you can argue it's a check but as long as you taunt, it should never win and you give your another mons a chance to beat it.

Hoopa-Unbound @ Choice Band
Ability: Magician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Dark
Jolly Nature
- Hyperspace Fury
- Zen Headbutt
- Drain Punch
- Gunk Shot

Hoopa-Unbound is a check. While it doesn't like switching in on boosted Moonblasts, it is immune to Stored Power, allowing it to switch in and threaten an OHKO with Hyperspace Fury after the slightest chip. If Cresselia Terastalizes, Hyperspace Fury is still a 2HKO after Hoopa Terastalizes, and Zen Headbutt becomes a 2HKO as well.
