Project Metagame Workshop

After seeing all this I decide to make my own post. Here we go.
Nihilslave's Better BH Exploration Notes II
:gholdengo:Infinite Fusion:chansey:

Premise
:
  • Choose a Pokémon as usual to be the Body Part, while giving it the name of a Pokémon as nickname which is to be the Head Part of the fusioned Pokémon
  • Fusioned Pokémon's base stats of H P, SpA, SpD = That base stats of Head * 2 / 3 + That base stats of Body * 1 / 3
  • Fusioned Pokémon's base stats of Atk, Def, Spe = That base stats of Head * 1 / 3 + That base stats of Body * 2 / 3
  • Fusioned Pokémon's Types include: First Type of Head + Second (or First if no Second) Type of Body
  • Fusioned Pokémon's available Abilities include: First Ability of Head, Second Ability of Body, and Hidden Ability of Head
  • Fusioned Pokémon's available Moves include: ALL moves learnt by Head and Body
Optional Premise:
  • Pokémon in Formes cannot be used
  • Special Fusions. E.g. Calyrex + Spectrier = Calyrex-Shadow
  • Pokémon's Total EV limit is doubled, i.e. 1020
  • National Dex (I know it's not gonna happen)
Rules (With all premises above)
Ruleset: Obtainable, +Past, +Unobtainable, +Unreleased, Team Species Preview, Nickname Preview, !!EV Limit = 1020, Species Clause, HP Percentage Mod, Cancel Mod, Endless Battle Clause, Sketch Post-Gen 7 Moves, Dynamax Clause, Terastal Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Moves Clause
Banlist: Cramorant, Shedinja, Moody, Shadow Tag, Baton Pass, Geomancy, Revival Blessing
Restricted: Eternatus, Groudon, Kyogre

Q&As:
Q: Why are the stats and ability contributions asymmetric for Head and Body?
A: To make teambuilding more interesting. For example, if you wanna have an imposter with high hp, Blissey + Ditto should be the choice. But since Imposter is the Hidden Ability of Ditto, you have to put it into the Head slot in order to have that, which inevitably restricts the total base hp of the fusioned pokemon.

Q: How is this even related to "Better BH"?
A: As you can see, the trend of gamefreak designing new Pokemon, Moves, and Abilities is that, they design a lot of broken things, and then combine them to make sure no Pokemon has all of broken Stats, broken Moves, and broken Abilities together. (Actually some even do have, see Zacian-C.) The fact is, gamefreak won't take "how hackmons will be like if we add this broken move" into any account. If this continues, Hackmons formats will surely be harder and harder to balance. Pure Hackmons is already destroyed by such trend, while Balancd Hackmons will be done sooner or later imo.
A: However in Infinite Fusion, you are still kinda free to choose from all the Abilities and Moves like in Hackmons, while the meta itself already inherently has gamefreak's "balancing design" by its mechanics. Thus you can see the thinnest ever banlist in OM (I don't check others lol. But it's surely thin enough.) Plus we doubled the EV limit for each Pokemon, which just makes it a perfect Hackmons alternative.

Q: Why is this an Uber-based metagame?
A: I believe it will be too hard to balance if we make it OU-based + I want it to be a BH alt.

Q: How does Species Clause work here?
A: You will usually have 12 species in your team counting both Heads and Bodies. And the Species Clause check is based on that. Self-Fusion will only count that species once tho.

Q: Eternatus, Groudon, and Kyogre and restricted, does this mean they are banned from fusion with other Pokemon?
A: Nope. We have such thing called Special Fusion so when you fusion Eternatus with Eternatus you will get Eternatus-Eternamax, which should undoubtedly be banned. So this restriction list just means we banned Eternatus-Eternamax, Groudon-Primal, and Kyogre-Primal.

Replays:
Electric Surge
Trick Room
Sleeptalk
Offense War
Balance War
Stall War
This seems too complex for an OM, seems more fitting for a solo mod.

Any kind of fusion OM I'd think needs to have a focus on simplicity. This is why I'd stick to the following
:iron-valiant: Frantic Fusions :roaring-moon:

Frantic Fusions is a metagame where a Pokemon gains the traits of a Pokemon in its Nickname: It gets the fused Pokemon's primary ability as a secondary ability, its primary type as the Pokemon's secondary type, its movepool, and its highest stat, ascending from HP to Speed. If you're shiny, you inherit the secondary type in your own slot and its secondary ability in your own as well.
Rules
Mechanic: One Pokemon gains the traits of a Pokemon in its nickname, such as its primary ability as its secondary, its primary typing as its secondary, movepool, and its highest stat.

Bans: Standard Clause, Sleep Clause, Fusion Clause*
Fusion Clause - Two Pokemon cannot share a donor. If a Pokemon is banned, it cannot be used as a donor or a fusee.

This allows for Pokemon to obtain a variable set of new tools, rather it be from a mediocre stat one Pokemon has being improved, a new typing that can help it offensively or defensively, or a movepool being expanded.

Sample Sets
:sv/glastrier:
Electrode (Glastrier) @ Choice Band
Ability: Chilling Neigh
Tera Type: Electric
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Icicle Crash
- Wild Charge
- Close Combat
- Volt Switch

Typing
:
Ice.png
Electric.png

Stats: 100 / 145 / 130 / 65 / 110 / 150

Glastrier turns into a slower breaker who can be exploited most of the time into a very fast wallbreaker who has amazing coverage, with Volt Switch to also make momentum.

:sv/dragapult:
Annihilape (Dragapult) @ Spell Tag / Leftovers
Ability: Infiltrator
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Substitute
- Dragon Darts
- Shadow Claw

Typing
:
Dragon.png
Ghost.png

Stats: 88 / 115 / 75 / 100 / 75 / 142

Dragapult now gains reliable physical Ghost-type STAB in Shadow Claw, enhancing its Dragon Dance set but at the cost of a 115 Attack stat compared to 120.

:sv/wo-chien:
Clodsire (Wo-Chien) @ Leftovers
Ability: Tablets of Ruin
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Knock Off
- Toxic
- Spikes / Ruination
- Recover

Typing
:
Dark.png
Poison.png

Stats: 130 / 85 / 100 / 95 / 135 / 70

Wo-Chien obtains reliable recovery, a solid defensive typing, and hazards, making it even better at making progress with its great bulk and massive selection of utility.

Questions
- Is there any alternative way for stats to be handled? We would like to avoid averaging stats as its quite complex, but if there's any other solution you think would help the metagame idea be better let us know!
- Should we allow for the secondary typing / secondary / hidden ability of a donor to be legal on a fusion through something like a shiny?
- Is the idea creative and enticing to others? Are there any other problems that should be looked at? Is it an improvement on the original idea?

Any feedback would be appreciated, thank you for reading!
Mostly I like this because it's pretty intuitive and doesn't always require you to use a particular command whenever uou need to see a Pokemon's stats, and by not giving any method to use a fusion's secondary type or other non-primary abilities, does make the game a lot simpler. I would definitely play this.

Ok so no fusions.

Metagame Premise
: This Metagame is to let many people use the fusion Pokémon in competitive battles and test them on their matchmaking skills.

Explanation: To fuse a pokemon, nickname the ‘body’ the ‘head‘. The base Atk,Def, and Speed stats are taken from the body and the Hp,Sp.def, and Sp.atk are from the head. Pokémon will be able to choose from any possible ability for either part of the fusion. The primary type is taken from primary type of the body, and the secondary type from the secondary type of the head. Also, Pokemon will be limited to only 2 moves from each side of the fusion. Weight and multiple other competitive related characteristics will be average(All pokemon are Genderless). If the body is affected by eviolite, its fusion will also be affected by it.(This is why Pikachu is banned because light ball is treated like eviolte)

Potential Good Picks:
(This is an OU meta)

16FFB666-9E20-4CF8-B51C-98666C762554.png

Clodsire (Corviknight) Having access to many supporter moves such as Defog,Tailwind,Taunt, Roost, and U-turn from the corviknight side and Haze, entry hazards and yawn from the Clodsire side, along with unaware. however its supporter role is sabotaged by its typing: Steel/Poison.

7D2C9CC6-BE0F-4773-B6F8-B25A39F1B67C.png

Blissey (Avalugg-Hisui) This fusion’s defensive stats are very high, with 255 Hp, 135 Sp. Def, and 184 Def! It also has access to STAB(like it matters) rapid spin, multiple recovery moves and stealth rocks. However, it’s defensive typing isn’t very good (Ice/Normal) and it has a 35 base speed stat. It even gets access to natural cure! Blissey is also good in many other fusions, but this one stuck out to me the most.

83480176-6E61-4AE5-84A4-294A20F89769.png

Lurantis(Zamazenta) I suspect many other lurantis fusions will be good, but this one will likely be dominant, despite its mediocre typing (Grass/Fighting). It’s big power comes from contrary close combat, boosting its def, which will increase the power of Body press even more. It gets access to synthesis and leech life from lurantis. I suspect Contrary will be banned like moody, nobody can use it , unless in Ubers or PH, which will Give a reason to unban Enamorus-I.

1CE0E469-5112-4B2A-B331-CD83E886E733.png

Iron Moth(Skeledirge) Having one of the highest Sp. Atk stats in the meta, combining it with STAB torch song and Quiver Dance, This fusion would be really OP in the meta, despite keeping Iron Moth’s not-the-best typing, it makes up for it by being able to run booster energy quark drive or throat spray unaware.

Ban List: All Ubers and :calyrex_shadow: ,levitate, earth eater, and the following: :enamorus: :walking_wake: :slaking: :hoopa_unbound: :pikachu: belly drum
On the radar: :gholdengo: :tinkaton: :tornadus-therian: unburden

Questions for the Community:
1: If I have a Mimikyu fusion with disguise, will it still activate?
2: For Pokemon with forms that change in-battle, do they still form change?
:mew: Expertise :inteleon:
Metagame Premise: Pokemon gain certain moves depending on the mon’s best stat.

Information: Pokémon with their attack stat as their best one get all physical moves, moves that increase the power of physical moves, and shell side arm. Sp. Atk as the best stat gets all special moves and moves that increase the power of special moves. Defense gets status moves that aren’t directly increasing Sp. Def, and vice versa for Sp. Def. Speed gets all attacking moves, and Hp gets all status moves.

Why I made this: I made this to increase the viability of certain high-stat low-tier Pokémon such as :electrode: and :Crabominable:, and boosting some Pokémon the little boost needed to be broken (:garganacl:).

Potential Bans, Threats, and Good Picks:
:dragapult: :electrode: :jolteon:
fast offensive Pokémon like these would dominate the metagame, with dragon darts :dragapult: likely being banned.

:garganacl: :regidrago: :chansey:
bulky pokemon like this getting many status and recovery moves, :regidrago: turns into an insane sweeper with victory/quiver dance and chansey getting toxic again

:toxapex: :thundurus_therian: :Crabominable:

:toxapex: getting body press and cotton guard just is bannable, and it gets hex for ghost types.
:thundurus_therian: sets that include torch song, thunder cage, air slash, and water shuruken are likely going to be very good in the meta
:Crabominable: getting a bunch of punch moves, combined with iron fist, turns it into a physical sweeper, despite its ice/fighting typing.

Okay so after a very fruitful discussion in the OM Room I figured it was optimal to put the idea here and see what further interest it can garner. Without further ado, I present to you...

Tera Blast only works if you Terastallize.

Well, we have Tera Donation now, so I kind of feel like both formats are a bit too similar to coexist, you are even using the same Tera Blast mechanic.
Tera Blast only works if you Terastallize.
After discussing it with in the hills, as well as TaxFraud and Hightide, Terastalization is banned and therefore Tera Blast won't be anything but a Normal-type 80 BP Special move. This may actually be better since things like Kingambit can be kept in line a bit more while others such as Volcarona, Regieleki, and Espathra can be unbanned and given a chance to see if they are still worthy of a ban.

I saw that 350 Cup got re-approved, so I was wondering if anyone else would want to see linked come back. Ik it's not really workshopping a new metagame, but I wanted to gauge interest. A lot of new moves have been added into the games that I think would make it interesting and worthwhile. For those of you that don't know, the premise of linked is that moveslots 1 and 2 are linked, meaning that when one of the linked moves is used, the other linked move is used immediately after. You can find a more in depth explanation of the mechanic here. Here are some examples:

:sv/gholdengo:
Nasty Plot + Make It Rain

Negates the stat drop to make NP Gholdengo even more threatening.

:sv/slowking: :sv/slowking-galar:
Trick Room + Chilly Reception

Sets up Trick Room and immediately pivots to an abuser such as...

:sv/ursaluna:
Swords Dance + Facade

+2 STAB Guts Facades look really strong, and it has great coverage too.

:sv/typhlosion-hisui:
Lava Plume + Infernal Parade

This link is admittedly pretty gimmicky, but if you manage to get a burn it will do exceptionally high damage. Alternatively you could run...

:sv/dragapult: :sv/gholdengo:
Will-O-Wisp/Thunder Wave + Hex

Cripple your opponent with a debilitating status effect and hit them with a 130 bp stab move on the same turn.

:sv/tinkaton:
Gigaton Hammer + Filler

If Gigaton Hammer works like other recharge moves did in gen 7, that means tink can click it every turn. Speaking of recharge moves...

:sv/zoroark-hisui: :sv/greninja:

This allows you to spam these high BP moves every turn since the recharge occurs during the time you would use the second move in the link.

And lastly for UT

All Maxed Out
Sick and tired of set-up spam? Enjoy fishing for crits? Want to go back to the days where every battle is 200+ turns? Welcome to All Maxed Out, a superpowered twist on a familiar metagame., where set-up becomes redundant and crits are super impactful. Everything is (should be) balanced as everything is super-boosted.

Rules
Mechanic: Everything comes in with +6 to all stats (not evasion and accuracy). Abilities and field effects activate after the omniboost.

Q&A
Why not give the +6 boost to Evasion and Accuracy as well?
If your boosts get hazed away, you are never going to land your moves.

Strategy
Anything that can drop stat stages is good. Abilities like Moody, Moxie and Speed Boost become redundant while abilities like Big Pecks, Super Luck, and Shell Armor have increased viability. Stat-lowering moves like Screech and Metal Sound might see use to cripple opposing Pokemon, threatening big damage if they choose to stay in. Set-up sweepers will become all-out attackers, running the coverage they could never fit in three slots.

:espathra: Its whole shtick as a Stored Power Speed Boost sweeper is gone, but it can still Lumina Crash to make progress.
:magearna: Same as Espathra, there is no merit to setting up and no Stored Power, so it'll just have to resort to dealing as much damage as possible.

Watchlist
:espathra: (Lumina Crash scary)
Clear Smog (forgot Haze clears stats for both sides)
Frost Breath/Storm Throw
Baton Pass (sub pass might be problematic)
The Terastal Phenomenon

Potential Unbans
:spectrier:Spectrier (NP sets become irrelevant)
:zacian:Zacian (doesn't really benefit from the attack raise from Intrepid Sword anymore, but banded could hit very hard)
:zacian-crowned:Zacian-Crowned (same as above, but a bigger stat stick)

Quick note, Storm Throw isn’t learned by anything at the moment. And I feel like Meowscarada should start banned since:
+6 252 Atk Choice Band Meowscarada Flower Trick vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Corviknight on a critical hit: 159-187 (39.8 - 46.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
This is the bulkiest quad resist in the meta with reliable recovery. This has no business being legal.

Anything that can drop stat stages is good.
Not true. Going from +6 to +4 is effectively a 25% drop, while going from +0 to -1 in standard is a 33% drop. Stat drops are not even half as good as usual, apart from moves that clear all stat boosts.

There's only one Super Luck user, but with Scope Lens it has two guaranteed crit STABs that hit very hard:
+6 252+ Atk Honchkrow Night Slash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Arceus on a critical hit: 466-549 (104.9 - 123.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+6 252 SpA Honchkrow Air Cutter vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Arceus on a critical hit: 432-508 (97.2 - 114.4%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

Focus Energy will be very powerful, since it turns every move into a guaranteed crit (if you have Scope Lens).

No idea if this has been subbed before. I'm throwing it out there anyway.

I don't really like how this sounds, it would be like standard, but no one uses boosting moves, that's about it, as banning the stuff that gets around the boosts like Sacred Sword and Always crit moves just make the format no different from "we just don't use boosting moves" and there is no way around that anyway as anything that interacts with this mechanic has to be banned to keep it balanced, so in the end nothing really changes.

Hyper Beam/Hydro Cannon/any other recharge move + Filler

This allows you to spam these high BP moves every turn since the recharge occurs during the time you would use the second move in the link.

And lastly for UT

:sv/talonflame:
Brave Bird + Roost/Acrobatics + Brave Bird

This allows talonflame to use a priority brave bird and then return to full health to potentially activate gale wings again OR use a 110 bp move and a 120 bp move, each with boosted priority, consecutively in the same turn.

We avoid formats that are too similar to already existing formats, the differences this has with camo aren't big enough to have both coexisting.

Speaking of Fortemons and Trademarked, I was gonna post this tomorrow but…

:calyrex_ice: Double Abilities :Calyrex_shadow:

Metagame Premise: Pokemon are able to put an extra ability into its item slot instead of an item.

In-Detail Rules: As stated in the Metagame Premise, Pokemon are able to have an extra ability. To separate it from AAA, the extra ability can be any ability obtainable on a teammate. This rule autobans stuff like wonder guard but also pretty useless abilities like illuminate.

Clauses: Sleep Moves Clause, Species Clause, Item Clause(rather than items, it’s abilities that are affected), OHKO clause, HP percentage mod

3 Potentially Viable Sets:
:Blissey: (F) @ Fur Coat
Ability: Natural Cure
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder Wave
- Soft-Boiled
- Stealth Rock
- Hyper Voice

This Blissey set has an estimated 260 defense, which is a great stat, even more than it’s own base HP, making it an unstoppable stall monster!

:Walking_Wake: @ Solar Power
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower
- Dragon Pulse
- Hydro Steam
- Hurricane
This Walking Wake set sweeps everything under sun, despite the Solar Power damage. It even has a good Tera fire, resisting it’s previous weakness of Fairy while countering it new weaknesses with the Water/Flying combo and getting STAB Flamethrower in the process.

:Maushold: @ Stench
Ability: Technician
Tera Type: Normal/Ghost/Fire (no burns)
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Tidy Up
- Population Bomb

- Thunder Wave
In case you didn’t know, stench makes all attacks gain a 10% chance to flinch, so with one tidy up, Maushold turns into a great phisycal sweeper.

This existed last generation as Multibility. Tagging drampa's grandpa for feedback on that as the old TL.

Hello everyone. I had one suggestion in mind, about assembling all generations mechanics, but I think it would be considered as undoable as a "I like old gens" type. So, here's another one instead :

Puppeteer's Scheme

Premise
: Single battle 6v6. Each Pokémon of your team gets the moves from the one that follows it, and the last one gets the first's moves.
Example :
  1. 1689370855684.png[Dragon Darts/Dragon Dance/Tera Blast/U-turn] => [Hex/Recover/Baneful Bunker/Haze]
  2. 1689371821709.png[Hex/Recover/Baneful Bunker/Haze] => [Defog/Body Press/U-turn/Roost]
  3. 1689371985553.png[Defog/Body Press/U-turn/Roost] => [Calm mind/Iron Defense/Stored Power/Draining Kiss]
  4. 1689372534115.png
    [Calm mind/Iron Defense/Stored Power/Draining Kiss] => [Pyro Ball/U-Turn/Sucker Punch/Court Change]
  5. 1689372761080.png
    [Pyro Ball/U-Turn/Sucker Punch/Court Change] => [Megahorn/Close Combat/Facade/Throat Chop]
  6. 1689373777975.png[Megahorn/Close Combat/Facade/Throat Chop] => [Dragon Darts/Dragon Dance/Tera Blast/U-turn]
At the beginning of the game, you'll have to determine the order in which the Pokémon will follow one after the other.

Clauses :

OU Clause

Bans :

OU Bans

Other Possible Bans :

Moves : Extreme Speed, Shell Smash, Transform, First Impression, Population Bomb.
Pokémon : Slaking.

Questions :

Q1 : How will I decide the order ?
A1 : You'll have to select the Pokémon of your choice from the first to the last before the battle starts.

Q2 : Would items and abilities be changed alongside moves ?
A2 : Each pokémon will keep their item and ability, no matter the order.

Q3 : What happens when a Pokemon faints ?
A3 : There won't be any changes, the others keep their moves from the defined order, see the previous example :
Even if Corviknight faints, Toxapex will keep [Defog/Body Press/U-Turn/Roost].

EDIT : I removed the Team Preview Clause because it doesn't seem necessary.

Why do you determine the order at the start of the game instead of in the teambuilder if there's no team preview?

I remember having some idea like this, so I think it could be pretty neat.
However, I feel like this might be too similar and a more restrictive form of Inheritance since you are taking movesets from other Pokemon, but I guess you are keeping abilities.
