You asked, we delivered!
This is a thread for bouncing your OM ideas off the community at large before posting them in the OM Submissions subforum. Anyone is welcome to post in this thread, either to request help with an idea or to offer feedback.

- Please read the Guidelines for posting before posting. As always all Smogon rules apply in this thread.
- Please ensure your submission is not on the list of Commonly Rejected Metagames or a current metagame. It helps us a lot to not have to turn away the same metas over and over.
- As cool as our Submissions Staff are, and as valuable as their input is, please be mindful that they may not be able to give you feedback on your idea immediately. It's alright to ask them if they'll look at the idea, but do not pester them if they cannot do it at that moment.

This is me, your host, and a member of the Submissions Staff! I'll be giving the majority of the feedback here, so don't be shy about approaching me over a concept.
:dewott: KaenSoul

Now it's time to meet our other Submissions Staff! These users are in charge of approving new metagames, and their feedback should be given first priority, as they will be the ones ultimately approving or denying your metagame.

Giagantic - Leader
Isaiah - Leader
dhelmise - Moderator
Ransei - Moderator
Tea Guzzler - Moderator

There are also our Submissions Readers, who are involved in the process of providing suggestions and feedback for new metagames in our Submissions Forum.

Guideline for posting:
Main Points:
  1. Workshop submissions are limited to one per week.
    • There is a one week cooldown on posting ideas in the workshop. This is to prevent the rapid-fire spam of undeveloped ideas and instead encourage well-thought-out ideas which can be given the time and attention they need.
  2. Make sure your metagame premise follows our rules
    • Does your metagame idea already exist? Does it follow the general rules of Other Metagames? Have you read our outline for submissions? Make sure to research before posting. (More details on our outline and rules below) NOTE: Other Metagames does not support National Dex formats, so this is not the place to suggest such metagames.
  3. Have you read up on our Submissions guidelines?
    • If the community and/or our submissions team shows interest in your metagame, have you read our Submission rules and OP Format? Most importantly, do you meet the requirements to lead a metagame, and have you considered who will co-lead this metagame with you?

In order to make a preliminary outline of your submission idea, all you need to do is fill out this brief form (subject to change):

Metagame premise:
Potential bans and threats:
Questions for the community:

Some more information on each:
  • Metagame premise. Keep this succinct. In general, the metagames with the simplest changes are the ones that succeed. If you can't describe this in a single sentence (even a long one), you should go back to the drawing board. This includes adding a secondary concept such as National Dex to your meta. Also, you should have a fully formed idea.
    • YES: "Pokemon get access to all of their STAB moves."
    • NO: "I want to do something with STAB moves."
  • Potential bans and threats. This can be pretty brief and should also potentially include sample sets if you have them.
    • YES (this would be part of an answer): "Dragonite will be very powerful and suspect-worthy, given that it can set up using Multiscale and then mega evolve to gain a different ability like Aerilate (insert Dragonite set)."
    • NO: "I think Pokemon that can set up easily would be difficult to beat."
  • Questions for the community. Be specific. Ask the most important questions.
    • YES: "How should I address Pokemon that change form in the middle of a battle?"
    • YES: "Does the name 'Pokemoncansketchonemoveoutsideoftheirnormalmovepool-mons' express the metagame's premise clearly enough? Is it too specific?"
    • NO: "What Pokemon would be good?"
    • NO: "How should I capitalize 'Stabmons'?"

Commonly Rejected Metagame Ideas:
Important:
Other Metagames does not support National Dex formats, any metagame ideas for that would either fall under the National Dex or Pet Mods sections. Make sure that your metagame has a single, mechanically consistent concept!
Common Submissions
STATS
  • Ooh what if we swapped X stat with X stat: No, we have enough of those.
  • Mr Mime For Ubers!: Make all pokemon Uber level in terms of power/bulk.
  • My formula is not complex: OM concepts that use formulas to calculate Pokemon stats. We have a lot of these already.
ABILITIES
  • I Sure Love Ability X: All/Some Pokemon get X ability over their normal abilities. Metas where X = Poison Heal/WonderGuard/Prankster have been rejected.
  • Huge Power is so cool!: All/Some Pokemon get Huge Power (or a Huge Power variant for another stat using rule X).
MOVES
  • STAB moves are the best: You can only use your moves you get STAB in.
  • Hate good moves: Only level up moves allowed/TMs disallowed/only unviable(or "Usually useless moves" from PS builder) moves allowed.
MECHANICS
  • Priority Moves suck!: All moves have the same priority (0).
  • Random: Your Pokemon's moveset/ability/typing is randomized but you get to pick the rest.
  • Zombies: Pokemon don't die upon fainting the first time. Matches can be won by [insert rule here].
  • Ew who switches: Switching is not allowed or hindered in some way.
  • Nice Death: All Pokemon come into the field with Perish Song/Mons faint after X turns.
  • Only 6 pokemon? PLEASE: You can use X (X = 6+n) Pokemon in your team.
  • Hoarding: Pokemon can hold X items (where X = 1+n).
  • I like old gens: Current Pokemon with X Generation's mechanics
  • Inheritance but not: A metagame that is Inheritance with one extra step. Please no more fake Inheritances.
BANS / BUILDING RESTRICTIONS
  • Man I hate these Pokemon: X Pokemon/X Typed Pokemon are banned.
  • Chaining: Primary type of a Pokemon in a slot must be the Secondary type of the Pokemon in the slot before it.
  • Budgetmons: The total base stat in your team must not exceed X/The total value of your team must not exceed X, with individual Pokemon being assigned values like this: [insert rule here].

  • Monocolor: All the Pokemon in your team must share the same Dex color.
  • My in-game team would beat YOUR in-game team: Only X Pokemon allowed, where X is based on an in-game arena or similar.
OTHER / MULTIPLE
  • OM X and Y are so good: Mashing up two OM concepts to pass off as a new one. (Your OM can be similar to another one but it should be a new concept that adds something new or interesting/improves the existing one, assuming the existing one is dead). Check out the OM Mashup Megathread for Mashups of multiple OMs!
  • ABCAB: Pokemon learn moves and abilities that start with the first letter of their names but we have a ton of complex bans to try and balance it!
  • I Know my egg groups!: Pokemon have access to moves/abilities of Pokemon in the same egg group.

  • 2v2 Singles: You can use only 2 Pokemon to battle.

How do you know if your metagame is ready to be submitted?
There's no real rules that dictate exactly when your metagame idea is ready for OM Submissions, but it's recommended that you get feedback from the community first and have a strong idea of what direction you want to take your meta, as far as banlists, co-leader, and premise go. Additionally, a strong tell that your metagame is ready for submissions is if one of our moderators (Isaiah, KaenSoul, Ransei, Giagantic, Tea Guzzler, dhelmise, ) or other submission readers (Eli, iapt, Instruct, berry) like your post, it generally means your metagame has piqued our interest (feedback we give should be given highest priority as well.)

Make sure that you yourself fulfill the requirements to submit a metagame, and keep in mind that a user with more OM experience is likely to be taken more seriously in submissions.

A couple of the ideas from the previous threads never got replies from me so I'm going to start this thread off by resounding to them!

Arsenal:

Premise: Tired of 4MSS? There is my proposal! You are allowed to give up to 24 moves to your Pokemons.

Threats: All who suffered from having coverage for too much options. Nidoking seems powerful: it can deny Flamethrower if there are no Ferrothorn and instead run Thunderbolt, Superpower and Rock Slide, all moves that he couldn't really place in his pool. Many set-up sweepers had no space, like Cosmic Mew that couldn't run Body Press in addition of Taunt/Refresh/Rest. Pult is a nice Screener.

Questions: Should some mons be banned?

Thoughts: Some AV mons will run status in case they are knoocked off. Rotom will just have 3 status...

Arsenal 2 (Manchester):

Premise: Tired of 4MSS? There is my proposal! You are allowed to give up to 24 moves to your Pokemons, but if you use at least 5, you can't use any other.

U-Turn may be worse, since it blocks a slot that could allow more coverage.
This is a commonly rejected concept (more moves on mons). There was a 6 move meta at one point and it just wasn't very popular. Every additional moveslot you add makes it less and less important to have that moveslot, because you would have chosen something else first.

We would deny this.

Custom Megas!

Permise: Uh this is an old idea. It is basically new megas with custom abilities and stats. I don’t know if someone has had this way. So, It’s Scalemons, but with 500 BST, with AAA, with no EVs and this rule:

A bonus of up to 50 bonus points are given to each stat, depending of EVs. Total 100 bonus.

EG:

A spread classic, so 252 252 would give 50 bonus in each stat.

Idk a formula but each pack of 5 EVs would give 1 bonus point.

Threats:

I think it could be sanier if only FE could megaevolve. It would respect the lore and protect us from Abra. Maybe Scalemons bans + AAA.

Questions:

Should I add Camomons or Bonus Type?

Should only no items mons be allowed to use AAA and my rule ?
This idea isn't fully thought out and I'm not going to finish thinking it out for you, but I can see that it's likely to get way too complex. Try to keep it simple. Maybe EVs add base stats in some way? If you go past one thing we will deny it for being a Pet Mod.

I recommend figuring out exactly where you want this meta to go and what you want it to look like. Remember, the mechanic working for the meta is more important than being superficially similar to what you were inspired by.
We ran this in Pet Mods last gen and it was really cool (it was NatDex based). But with a new gen starting soon, I wanted to sub it to an OM as it works better here.

Dex Reversal (name is still a WIP)

The premise of this mod is that PokeDex order is reversed to determine base stat total. Moves, typing and abilities stay the same. For example, PokeDex #001 swaps with #400, #002 swaps with #399 and so on. I have a spreadsheet detailing all the swaps for Scarlet and Violet, which would be the format it uses. I won't post it yet because of spoilers. Pokemon without a dex number, such as something that is transfer only, does not switch with anything.

Forme changes are applied using mix and mega rules (the base form inherits new stats and the form change bonuses are then applied to it). So, as an example, Giratina-O would use the new stat spread Giratina-I has, but it gets +20 Atk/SpA and -20 Def/SpD because those are the differences of its forme change..

It's intentionally designed to be simple but it can completely reinvent Pokemon. For example, in our Gen 8 NatDex version, Gastrodon swapped with Dialga and gave us an insane mixed wall, Froakie/Frogadier/Greninja swapped with Lugia/Ho-oh/Tyranitar to create three huge defensive pivots and Shiinotic swapped with Mewtwo to create the format's strongest offensive threat.
Tell me what swapping BST means. Do stats scale, or swap directly? Also NatDex would immediately disqualify this.
So I don't know for sure how effective of an OM this would be, but I have an idea for one that could be really cool with the concepts we seem to be looking at for Gen 9.

Tera-Forming!

The concept would run on the following premise: at the end of the turn, the Pokemon on each side of the field will Terastalize. However, the type they Terastalize into will be completely random. This event happening at the end of the turn ensures that both players are able to plan their turn with the information in front of them, instead of having to hope that the opponent doesn't change into a type immune to whatever you are going for.

While we don't fully know how the Terastalization will work in the new games just yet, for this format the Pokemon will return to its original typing once it returns to the party. This allows you to take advantage of a Pokemon's initial defensive typing as they switch into an opposing Pokemon's attack, and then become a new type as the turn ends.

I could probably have more to say about this as a concept once the Gen 9 games come out, but at the moment I think that this could be an interesting, and somewhat unique, game to play in the new generation.
This being random is just... not good I'm sorry. Metagames should encourage skill based building not luck of the draw. This combined with the fact that Terastallization is very likely broken (it's day one so I don't want to be too adamant but...) makes for a meta that is honestly less competitive than randbats with way too much Protect spam.

That being said I'd love to see a good, non-randomized Terastallization meta. It's honestly a pretty cool mechanic if you ignore it being broken.

Teraforming(what do I change this to)
Premise: All Pokémon are in their Tera form permanently.
Initial banlist: Koraidon, Miraidon
Potential bans and threats: As it is literally day 1 of Tera being a thing, it’s hard to visualize what Teraforming could be like in terms of the meta. Here are some predictions for what’s gonna be good:
:cresselia: With Lunar Blessing and Tera Steel, Cresselia can be an incredible defensive option for many teams. It can also potentially go Tera Poison to better check Pokémon like Flutter Mane or Chien-Pao.
:weavile: Pretend like this is Chien-Pao. It becomes an absolute monster with Tera Fighting, and will probably be the best offensive Pokémon in the meta.
:misdreavus: Pretend like this is Flutter Mane. Tera is a bit of a double edged sword for Flutter Mane. Even though it gains way more power, it also loses one of two very important typings defensively. Still, I expect it to be a top mon.
:chansey: :blissey: With Steel, this can become a real nuisance to kill. I’m expecting Blissey to probably be better than Chansey thanks to being able to hit Flutter Mane with Shadow Ball, instead of just getting Taunted.

Questions for the community
Are there any potential coding issues with how Tera works offensively?
How should Double Shock work with Tera Electric, or how should Burn Up work with Tera Fire?
Would Salt Cure factor in the base type of the Pokémon or the Tera type?

EDIT: Just realized the name was taken by another submission, my b.

Type Swap!

Premise of the Metagame: Type Swap is a doubles metagame where both of your Pokemon have their type swapped.

Example: If you have heatran and cresselia out front, heatran would be psychic type and cresselia would be fire/steel type this is an old example, but you get the point

Potential Bans
Pokemon: Whatever DOU bans to be honest. It’s too early to tell right now, but this metagame will be pretty much identical to DOU.
Paradox forms paired with sun or electric terrain in doubles looks very good in doubles because you can set it up at the same time you have the paradox forms out. They might overcentralize the meta and become instant S-Tier. edit: Booster Energy doesn’t require the respective weather/terrain, but only activates once, so it might be balanced. The pokemon that have Harsh Sun and Electric Surge aren’t as strong, so it’s just moves like Sunny Day and Electric Terrain on stronger pokemon. It might all be balanced to be honest, but I don’t know.
Also there is :tatsugiri: and :dondozo: which are probably gonna get banned because of Commander of course.
Abilities: Whatever the DOU bans become again. Nothing so far except the paradox abilities like I mentioned. Any remotely broken ability is on a relatively average pokemon. Commander might get banned if DOU doesn’t ban :tatsugiri:
Moves: Whatever the DOU bans become again, again. I’m especially looking at Revival Blessing on:pawmot:god what is that quality… cause Leppa Berry makes this annoying to deal with.
Clauses: Standard Doubles Rules lol you get the point

Items: edit: Booster Energy. OM chat’s wise guidance has led me to believe that Booster Energy is way too strong. I’m sure DOU will ban this as well.

Some maybe Viable Threats

The combinations that will most benefit from this rule is probably pokemon that have one type in common. This ensures that at least either pokemon will have access to one stab type. Most pokemon don’t have good moves that are not their own type. The combos that do not use each other’s types mostly have one pokemon benefiting more and the other getting bad moves to work with. I think it might be easiest to start off with a nice type core that you know would work, and build from there.

If paradox forms aren’t banned, then these will be the top of the meta, along with sun and electric terrain setters such as :torkoal: and :pincurchin:. The 4 chinese ruinous legendaries with their abilities look decent. Even though they affect your pokemon as well, having a special attacker along with :wo-chien: or a physical attacker with :ting-lu: look very good. The other two might be less favorable in a doubles format.

These were some combos with the new toys that I could come up with.

:wo-chien: + :glimmora: This combo is the ultimate setup combo, with pokemon utlizing their new types to a decent extent.

:armarouge: + :meowscarada: Grass type and flash fire look real cool. Protean is also super interesting.

:garganacl: + :gholdengo: Oh my god these guys work way too well into each other. They both can’t be statused. Purifying Salt removes garganacl’s new ghost weakness. Garganacl can use curse as a ghost type now, and has Iron Head. Gholdengo gets power gem.

:torkoal: + :great tusk: I decided to do one combo with paradox forms + sun setter, in case they don’t get banned. These guys work well, as Great Tusk gives ground and fighting stab to Torkoal, which has Earthquake and Superpower. Great Tusk gets fire fang, meh. I know torkoal isn’t a “new toy”, just roll with it.

Terastalization

Terastalizing your pokemon would change your ally’s type, and NOT yours. This applies to any move or ability that changes yours or the opponent’s type in general.
The best way to wrap your head around this is to have a "true" type and a "swapped" type for every pokemon. The "true" type would be what happens in a normal doubles format, and the “swapped” type is what will show up during Type Swap. Always just swap the "true" types to achieve the "swapped" type, no matter what. This rule applies in general, even if somebody terastalizes or uses Soak or something.

Questions for the Community
Are there any pokemon, abilities, moves, or items that come to mind that should be banned?

I asked this last time and will do again; Should pokemon keep their original STAB?

dang i wanted to be first post but got lazy and sleepy lol, TODAY IS RELEASE DAYYYY

Tutage
  • Metagame premise. Nickname your Pokemon another Pokemon's name (I know this is usually banned, so you'd have to make an exception for this one). You can now use one move from that Pokemon that would be STAB on that Pokemon. Example: Nickname Houndoom Heatran. You can now use Magma Storm.
  • Potential bans and threats.
    • Inheriting set up moves such as Tail Glow, Shift Gear, Quiver Dance, and Shell Smash
    • Inheriting hyper offensive moves with no drawbacks such as Fishous Rend, Bolk Beak, and Boomburst

Wait isn’t this that Bonus Type OM but you get 1 type instead of 3 now? I would much rather play Bonus Type than this cause 3 types is funnier than 1.

This looks a bit less chaotic than Bonus Type so that’s an added benefit. I feel like this could be fun, but there would always be that one tera type you didn’t account for, like always.

Maybe add a button where you could change to your tera type, starting with the base form, like mix and mega. You could call it Mix and Tera or something. This could add a bit more thinking into which tera type to use and use it at the right time.

As for your questions, double shock and burn up result in typeless, meaning no resistances or weaknesses.
Stuff like curse and salt cure should work after tera, not before. I’m pretty sure that’s how it works in the games.

For a name, maybe you could do Teraternal. comes by fusing Tera- with -eternal

I have been thinking on something like this ever since Tera was announced, and the problem it has is that now every offensive threat could have up to 3 Stabs to work with while defensive mons are forced into a single types, so they have a very simple and predictable set of resists and weaknesses (everyone will be either fairy, steel, ground or water so just choose a tera for your wallbreaker that let it hit those types), I can't see defensive mons being good outside Blissey, Avalugg and maaaybe Cress (who may end as a bulky set up sweeper instead).

EDIT: Just realized the name was taken by another submission, my b.
Oh god I'm terribad at names ummmm idk

But as for the metagame itself...
Part of me wants to accuse this meta of being a more offensive version of Camomons, but honestly Terastyllization is a more offensive version of Camomons. Game Freak looking at OMs for ideas now. I actually rather like the idea, and the way it captures the essence of the mechanic. There's a big but though. Terastyllization has been widely accused of being stupid broken and thought of as a likely candidate for an early ban in many metagames. If this metagame was give 6 Pokemon something broken it would be a brokenass metagame. I would not approve something like that. My inclination would be to say wait and see how the metagame shakes out and how balanced the mechanic proves. If you choose to do this I'll promise you first crack at this idea, meaning someone else can't just swoop in before you decide it's time, because that would be stupid, it's your idea.

I'm not sure about Double Shock or Burn Up, but my experience with Tera is that it resets on switch in, so it would likely be best to do that here as well. You could also use Burn Up on a Fire type, Tera into a Fire type, use Burn Up again, and then idk, cry.... except you can't nothing gets Burn Up. Double Shock works though!
As for Salt Cure, I don't know but we can figure it out by using the move on any Pokemon Terastyllized into Water/Steel that wasn't before or vice versa. Could probably just test it on the server even.
I don't know about potential coding issues offensively. It would likely be you get an extra STAB or a special Adapt boost like in standard though, so I don't foresee any, potent coder that I am (I'm not).

I think we've talked about this before so I'll keep this pretty brief. I'm not the biggest fan in the world of the concept because I feel that it, in many ways, encourages the same sort of building and mon pairing as PiC, which I find to be the superior metagame. However you previously convinced me this is different enough anyway to warrant a look in submissions.

Also doing this with Tera will hurt my brain thanks. I'll just run Sun and Fire Tera on everything. Or I would if I ever played Doubles, which also hurts my brain.

No, Pokemon should absolutely not keep their original STAB. This was my answer last time and remains my answer this time. The Pokemon have swapped type, and once a Pokemon loses their type they lose their STAB unless they Tera, which is a really really really weird exception.

Agree with KaenSoul unfortunately. This is a more complicated Sketchmons. See last gens thread here: https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/sketchmons.3680298/ (this gens isn't up yet give us time though :D)

I'm not sure if I understand this properly. Can you choose if you want to be a titan or a team of 6? Do you show up with a team of 7 with one pokemon being super overleveled? What's going on here?

This just doesn't seem well thought out to be honest. I'm not sure if I can make any suggestions to improve it at it's current state.

The best I can relate this to is Dynamax Raids in Generation 8. Usually your team will wipe the floor unless you are fighting a legendary raid den, which you do also end up wiping the floor if you are in a co-op. I feel like the same thing is going to happen here, unless drastic differences between the titan and the team of 6 are made. A lot of balancing has to be done here.

COMMONDER
250px-Menu_SV_Dondozo.png
Metagame premise: A Doubles Metagame where you can bring an LC Pokemon to be "eaten" by its partner on the field.

Example:
Let's say you have these 2 Pokemon on the field.
:ss/Gengar: :ss/Gastly:
Gastly will disappear inside Gengar similar to how the new Tasugiri will hide inside the new Dondozo. However, because that would be absurdly busted otherwise, Gengar will receive a buff with +2 SpA and +2 Spe as those are Gastly's 2 highest non-HP stats

:ss/Gengar: :ss/happiny:
However, if Gengar's partner is instead Happiny, Genger will instead receive +2 SpD and +2 Spe as those are Happiny's 2 highest non-HP stats.

:ss/Gengar: :ss/Combee: :ss/Croagunk:
If an LCmon's second highest non-HP stat, such as Combee's Def and SpD, it will choose based on how abilities like Beast Boost and new Paradox Pokemon abilities work. Additionally, if the partner Pokemon is like Croagunk who has its Atk and SpA as its highest stat, the buff will be +2 Atk and +2 SpA only.

Also to mention, the mechanic will work like how Commander does in game for Dondozo and Tatsugiri, where you won't be able to switch out until either Pokemon is fainted, so keep that in mind.

Lastly, unlike regular Commander, this version of the metagame will force the "Tatsugiri" to switch out once the "Dondozo" is KO'd, so that each Pokemon you send out doesn't constantly eat your LCmon.

Potential bans and threats:
Bag_Flame_Orb_Sprite.png
Bag_Toxic_Orb_Sprite.png
Bag_Sticky_Barb_Sprite.png
Bag_Black_Sludge_Sprite.png

So currently there are some people using the strategy of intentionally KOing Tatsugiri with things like Toxic Orb so that you can send something else out, which is definitely not ideal since the idea is to have a Pokemon who gets a massive buff but doesn't have a partner to back them up. This normally won't happen unless you are using these items.

:croagunk: :sunkern:
Yes you heard that right, Sunkern has the potential to be ban worthy, but for similar reason to Croagunk and instead lies in their abilities. Croagunk gets Dry Skin and Sunkern gets Solar Power. The abilities themselves likely will be banned or restricted for the same reasons as above.

250px-915Lechonk.png
:Growlithe: :flabebe: :happiny: :hatenna: :shellos: :snover: :hippopotas:
Abilities that activate on switching in such as Intimidate and Weather Abilities, or abilities that have passive effects for your partner like Aroma Veil or Flower Veil will definitely let certain Pokemon stand out as they aren't just giving a stat buff to a Pokemon. These could also potentially be ban worthy, but we'll have to see.

250px-Menu_SV_Flamigo.png

Flamigo has access to the ability Costar, which can potentially break the meta like how it does in Doubles. If you manage to KO your LCmon on the field, you would then just be able to have Flamigo copy the stat changes. This would be harder to do, but still feasible and would give you 2 incredibly threatening Pokemon on the field.

Questions for the community:
-So buffing a Pokemon similar to how Commander would work but for any Pokemon would be insanely busted. +2 omni boost on say Dragapult would be broken even if you only have 1 effective Pokemon on the field. However, I'm wondering if +2 in 2 stats would be a bit underwhelming since it's a 1v2 and would like to know how the LCmons should buff the fully evolved Pokemon. Alternatives like +1 to 3 stats or +2 to 2 stats and using LCmons ability on top of your own.
-Should there be different limit to how the Commander mechanic works in this meta? Like you could have the "Dondozo" Pokemon be only the first Pokemon in your party. Maybe have a restriction on how many LC Pokemon you can have?

The only way for this idea to work would be to have two battles happen (best of 3 and that sounds like a "no"), you can't just have two different sides, the other option would be to force one of the players to send the high level one first while blocking the ability to switch out and also not allow the other player to use the high level mon until it runs out of under leveled mons. But either way, it won't work, levels are too important in the damage formula and the big mons would just sweep the smalls ones with your only hope for dealing damage being priority. Similar problem to trying to beat the main campaign while over leveled, is just too easy.

I think you should ensure people would use the mechanic, or that it will be used during the course of the game, so changing the premise from "you can bring an LC Pokémon" to "you have to", maybe force teams to have 3LC or 2LC mons, so it doesn't devote into regular doubles by turn 5, specially if you get hit by Clear Smog or Haze early and the whole mechanics turns into dust. Also, forcing 3 LC mons helps at keeping the self KO as a valid strategy without it being too dominant, as your post really shows you don't want the main focus to be trying to remove the LC to turn this into a regular battle and with a smaller team of fully evolved mons you can self KO but at the risk of running out of Pokémon much faster.
Finally, Unaware seems really busted here, as this would be a 1v1 half of the time, allowing Skeledirge and Dondozo to effectively be the only mons with boosted stats, I would at least have Skeledirge on the watchlist, but every other mon seems balanced enough (at least when looking only at mechanic interactions, thanks to god Simple is limited to Numel currently).

Asymmetrical metagames are a no-go, there’s no good way to implement them.
Metagame premise: A Doubles Metagame where you can bring an LC Pokemon to be "eaten" by its partner on the field.
I worry the the boosts chosen a) are a bit arbitrary and b) will result in this being 3v3 singles with just, double stats.

Teraforming(what do I change this to)

Initial banlist: Koraidon, Miraidon
Potential bans and threats: As it is literally day 1 of Tera being a thing, it’s hard to visualize what Teraforming could be like in terms of the meta. Here are some predictions for what’s gonna be good:

Have decided to drop this idea entirely. If anyone else wants to make a Tera-based metagame, feel free, but from my current experience with SV OU, it is simply too unbalanced imo.

:drampa:drampa's grandpa

Now it's time to meet our other Submissions Staff! These users are in charge of approving new metagames, and their feedback should be given first priority, as they will be the ones ultimately approving or denying your metagame.

Additionally, a strong tell that your metagame is ready for submissions is if one of our moderators (In The Hills, Isaiah, Ransei, UT, drampa's grandpa, Kris) or other submission readers (Eli, iapt, Instruct, berry) like your post, it generally means your metagame has piqued our interest (feedback we give should be given highest priority as well.)

Make sure that you yourself fulfill the requirements to submit a metagame, and keep in mind that a user with more OM experience is likely to be taken more seriously in submissions.
Tier nerf
Kinda of a fusion between gg and ts but instead of gaining stats you lose them. So ubers lose 50 in each stat ou/uubl 40 uu/rubl 30 ect and then you can use a pu mon as a "god" as the slot it is in determines which stat it will give the entire team. Instead of giving the team different stats it will give one stat to the whole team.

Is better to limit to a single rule, specially if any additional rule doesn't really feel "necessary" to make the first one work or if there is no flavor that really connect them, trying to mix two completely different ideas is something we do in OM Mashup, I guess you could turn it into a negative tier shift, but then it wouldn't be distinct enough from regular Tier shift.
It is quite early in the generation, so you have a lot of time to think about the idea before Gen9 PU becomes a thing.

Back Review
I have no name idea in fact.
Metagame Premise: So it's a tier where all stats are the difference between the first stage and the last.
Exemple:
:Crobat: 85/90/80/70/80/130
:zubat: 40/45/35/30/40/55
So Crobat stats would be 45/45/45/40/40/75.

Potential bans and threats:
All non-evolving Pokemon because would disable the flavor of the meta.
Eviolite may be broken due to the low average stats.
All Reevo bans due to same reasons.
Basically same threats than Reevo, Frosmoth especially. Pseudo legendary may not be that broken.
Pure Power and Huge Power. 30 Atk is huge in this meta and Huge Power make it uncheckable.

Questions:
Do you have any Broken ideas?
Do this need some adjustements?

It's inspired by Reevolution but:
1. 3 stages evolutions are buffed
2. High BST aren't particularly strong

I think I joked a few times about making a meta that is just the /showevo stats as the next step after CE and Reevo.
While this can be interesting, there are way too many mons that get between 0 and 10 in multiple stats, it wouldn't really be similar to Reevo but instead to LC, but much frailer as nothing is compatible with Eviolite, you would have to ban all the LC mons for them to not dominate, and of course all the Pokémon that aren't part of an evolution line, as the powerlevel here is waaaay too low.
It could be fine in the end, but not sure if it would be approved, you need to think a bit more on how this could end like, and they have been against new metas that require calcs as of lately, you would really need to prove this one would be different from the others.

This is kinda goofy metagame idea, but it seemed cool so imma post it anyway.

Equilibrium
Premise of the Metagame: Equilibrium is a singles metagame, but at the end of every turn, like at the very, very end, the percentage HP of the pokemon becomes averages out. Status conditions act like synchronize, including freeze.

Potential Bans
I honestly have no idea what would be good and what wouldn't which probably means i haven't put much thought into my idea. This would likely be an OU based metagame, with bans centralized around OU. OHKO moves might might might be balanced because there is really no way of dealing reliable damage. Focus Sash might need a ban because you probably recover way more than 1 HP at the end of the turn and you can probably get away with some shenanigans.

Strategy:
Securing the OHKO is huge in this metagame, so hazards will be a huge help. Hazards being prevalent means stuff like defog and other hazard removing moves will also be prevalent.

Stall is a tricky one and it'll be a huge tossup between it and offensive. The endless tugging between HP means that neither can really get any progress made. Stall is able to eat up the strong attacks that offensive pokemon throw and equalize the HP, giving it extra recovery. Stall can't hit too hard, which means that the little damage offensive pokemon take will be recovered back. Stall might have the upper hand here.

Questions for the Community
Are there any pokemon, abilities, moves, or items that come to mind that should be banned?

Should the HP be equalized rather than the percentages?

One more thing...
Type Swap!

Premise of the Metagame: Type Swap is a doubles metagame where both of your Pokemon have their type swapped.
I realized that this and Tier Shift have the same abbreviations (TS). I need a better name lol.

So like Pain Split is applied at the end of every turn? And on top of that, status effects are shared? No idea how this second rule fit on the premise.

It really sounds like you aren't sure of what you are trying to make, you don't sell a premise by telling people it will be hard to make any progress.
But the premise does seem to reward being passive, as anything that isn't a clear KO may end dealing more damage to the user rather than the opponent. I doubt pure stall would be good tho, as being too passive here also means you make 0 progress beyond wasting PP, bulky set up sweepers may have the upper hand here.

Yeah, its basically pain split every turn. I put the status conditions because it equals out the conditions, and the whole point was to make the two pokemon as equal as possible, but it is kinda arbitrary.

Pure stall might have issues, but semi-stall and bulky offensive teams might have the upper hand. Set up sweepers seem iffy cause unaware.

This still needs some work on my end, as it feels unfinished even to me. I'm not too sure what I'm trying to achieve myself. This idea was kinda undeveloped, and I haven't put much thought into it. Not being able to make progress does sound unappealing.

discussion earlier on 24-move meta got me thinking about a variant: a meta where your team gets 24 moves total and you can distribute them between your pokemon however you please. you could just run four moves per mon like usual, or you could have six moves on one of your mons at the cost of one of your others having only two. is it worth running a mon with only one move (a choiced pokemon with a powerful spammable stab?) to spread its extra moveslots to your other guys? if you really wanted to, you could have 19 moves on one guy and just one on the rest lol

Teratype
Premise:
The first Pokémon in your team is automatically Terastallised. You can have any Tera type of your choice except one of its base types. The remaining members of your team need to share a type with that Tera type.
Potential bans:
Default Monotype bans except Terastal Clause.
Question:
Does allowing one off-type Pokémon make this sufficiently different from regular Monotype?
