  • Heyo, coming to you as a 1v1 old gens rep. Resently, Gen 3 1v1 banned Destiny Bond, Self-Destruct, and Explosion, I believe either because if you can cause an opponent to faint with those moves, you win, or because they can cause draws. Either way, it would be excellent if this new ban could be added onto ROM for Gen 3 1v1. Thank you very much.

    Thanks for the update; I've updated ROM's validator, although /om will still be out of date until the next restart.

    Right now I'm struggling to catch up with the TypeScript conversions that are going on. Maybe once they've settled down it might be possible.
    Update on Old Gens 1v1:
    Porygon-Z needs to be banned from DPP, and Suicune needs to be banned from ADV

    Hello, I was referred to you when I inquired about individuals who could help in coding my recently approved OM, 'Hot Potato' onto a side server. Is there specific process for getting it up and running somewhere? Or is it more of a casual "can you do me a favor" kind of thing?

    Ability suppression, knocking down, Throat Chop's effects and drowsiness were overlooked but yes they should pass.     One of them was Spandam, who put a beta version on Dragonheaven, but it still has a few bugs. Another one by Mathfreak231 has purportedly implemented a bit more but has no place to host it (the github link is found in this post https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/hot-potato.3643676/post-7958145). He's given me his blessings to pass you this code, hopefully it makes things easier for you to properly implement.

    Thank you very much for this, btw. I honestly didn't expect other people to come out of the blue and provide the framework without me asking, but the help you can provide will jumpstart a lot of practical testing necessary to iron out the kinks in balancing the meta
    How would you go about coding Fortemons? It seems like a pretty big project, but I’m not very deep in the world of coding. Also, how did you get your start in doing serious stuff like that? Do you need/have a background? You seem like a really thorough person, so I thought I’d ask you (I’m trying to get into it)

    I have a background in programming, so yes, that helps. As for coding OMs, the trick is stick to generic effects, such as copying the switching effect of U-turn and Volt Switch, because a) it's simpler and b) once you start writing special cases you've wandered into Pet Mod territory.

    This is pretty important, especially in the context of the upcoming rby 1v1 ladder. Basically, I hosted a poll amongst the 1v1 community on whether to allow 3v3 team preview a la gen 7 1v1 across all old gen 1v1 formats, and the voters near unanimously voted in favor of team preview. As such, I formally request you update all the old gen 1v1 ladders on rom to be in this format.

    I would also like you to check to see if accuracy-lowering/evasion-boosting moves are banned in those formats. If not, get rid of 'em.

    Gen 3 had the Evasion Moves clause already, so I added it to Gens 1, 2, 4 and 5, and I copied the accuracy-lowering bans from Gen 6 to the lower gens.

    Not really sorry... when I started I only set it up so that I could test fixes out, and it was only because Snaquaza stopped running Aqua and Abyssal Bot needed a new home that I started to pick up the traffic, and then I got into coding OMs which is why ROM has so many...
    Hey just wanna say something for "The Good Old Days" mix and mega tournament, I was facing a Darkrai holding Pidgeotite and when it megad it was unable to use Dark Void with the message, "Only Darkrai can use Dark Void." This is that SuMo change, meaning once Darkrai mega evolves it no longer registers as Darkrai and thus can't use the move. This was played in the MnM AG tier.

    ROM has slightly different Mix and Mega code to main, and one subtle difference is that when you mega evolve Darkrai it turns into Darkrai-Mega; unfortunately Dark Void isn't coded to work with Darkrai-Mega, only with Darkrai, hence the observed behaviour.

    Abilities/moves still counts as coding a fusion, but I would consider helping out with the crashes.
