If you don't want RNG, make a pet mod for that. We've all lost due to Freeze off of a resisted Ice Beam at least once. We've all also probably won due to clicking Ice Beam over Surf in a bad situation and getting that 10% at least once. Luck happens, that's the game we agreed to play.

To be fair, Legends Arceus did away with freeze in favor of the cooler (hah) frostbite condition and I think most of us were hoping that change would find its way into Gen 9. Luck is fine, sure, but I think more from Legends Arceus needs to find its way into the main series

freeze is shit but frostbite is also kinda bad (you shouldn't make symmetrical status when the things they're affecting are not symmetrical themselves). I also just think pla has the worst combat mechanics of the series so I do not want any of it on the main game LOL

Since kingambit is the main suspect, what partners use to support kingambit out? or just good kg pairs in general. We've talked a lot about counters but not as much about teammates I think

Tusk + Gambit is a pretty good combo IMO to check opposing Gambits. Tusk can handle non-Tera Gambit, while Gambit is good vs Tera Gambit, tho watch out for Low Kick.

Defensively, Gambit and Dragapult have ok-ish synergy, and Pult is great at crippling Gambit answers like Zamazenta, Tusks, and opposing Gambits with Wisp. Double status and subwisp pult both do great vs Dozo too.

Ghosts are good partners for Gambit. I'd say something like Dengo, Gengar, or Mismagius would be good as they can (under most circumstances) cyclically check each other's issues, depending upon the pair. Or even Gambit + Pult.

"Eelektross is an eel-like Pokémon that resembles a lamprey, with a long tentacle-like, finned limb extending from its head. It latches onto prey with its sucker mouth and shocks them with electricity from its fangs, before dragging them as it returns into the ocean." - Bulbapedia

"Don't mind me just analyzing eely floaty boi while waiting for Kingambit suspect results"

Eelektross is just... cool; our shockingly awesome eel just radiates a type of feeling only synonymous with the term "awesome." Unfortunately, this hasn't translated well into the field of competitive play as Eelektross, despite having no weaknesses, had a slew of issues holding it back from the stardom its fantastic design deserved. However, with the advent of Tera and current metagame trends, Eelektross has found a unique niche that can handle a specific combination of OU threats that no other Pokemon in the tier can successfully handle. So instead of rambling on about how much rizz the electric eel has, let's just dive right on in and talk about Eelektross!
Disclaimer: Eelektross can fit on multiple team types but requires an adept knowledge of OU speed tiers and damage ranges to function to its fullest capacity. Please do not carelessly place Eelektross onto a team without understanding what Pokemon Eelektross specifically handles, as your team may not be suited for its unique combination of traits. I highly recommend reading through the awesome SV OU speed tiers thread by AtraX Madara to get a good grasp of speed thresholds that Eelektross is specifically meant to hit. If you prepare well and provide great team support (such as Wish-passing or your own hazards), Eelektross will capitalize on and generate momentum for your team while simultaneously handling some of the most aggravating threats in OU.

Eelektross Competitive Summary
This is a "too long, didn't read" for people who want a quick summary of Eelektross's positive traits in OU without reading the full post
  • Eelektross is the only Pokemon in the game with no weaknesses courtesy of its ability Levitate and its mono-electric typing, which gives it a unique defensive profile - resisting common Flying, Steel, and Electric-type attacks while also having a wonderful immunity to Ground-type attacks + Paralysis. Along with this, Eelektross does not have the crippling weaknesses to Ice or Rock-type attacks that its Electric/Flying brethren Zapdos does.
  • Additionally, Eelektross's Levitate ability grants it natural immunity to Stick Web, Spikes, and Toxic Spikes without having to use Heavy-Duty Boots, making it one of the best pivots to bring against hazard-stacking teams.
  • With just a bit of investment, Eelektross's 85/80/80 bulk is more than enough to survive some unexpectedly powerful neutral hits, and Terastallization further allows Eelektross to take advantage of many specific OU threats. Having trouble with Kingambit, Roaring Moon, or Samurott-H? Try Tera-Fighting/Fairy. Having trouble with Ursaluna, Sneasler, or Mixed Iron Valiant? Try Tera-Ghost (fun fact, Tera-Ghost Eelektross is immune to both Great Tusk and Ursaluna's STAB combination - a trait only shared by Drifblim, Mismagius, Haunter, Rotom-Standard Form, and Oricorio-Sensu)
  • Eelektross has one of the best offensive movepools in the game along with great mixed 115/105 offenses, allowing you to customize your Eelektross's specific coverage traits to suit your team's needs and to exert different types of move utility pressure - nothing in OU can avoid super effective hits from this Pokemon depending on the moveset.
  • Eelektross is highly unpredictable, as its wide movepool also extends to its boosting and utility options such as Coil and Thunder Wave.
  • Eelektross is built for keeping momentum and sapping your opponent's momentum as not only can its slower base 50 speed actually be quite useful in hitting key thresholds against slower bulky mons, but it gains access to both U-Turn and Volt Switch, allowing it greater "slow turn" flexibility against faster threats as well.
  • Eelektross dismantles and preys upon cores dependent on Unaware boosters or Defensive stalwarts such as Clodsire and Skeledirge, in addition to feasting on frailer switch-in options who think they can simply overpower Eelektross.

So to understand Eelektross's role, we need to first examine its offenses to find out exactly what type of pressure Eelektross can exert. With an Adamant nature and 252 Attack EVs, Eelektross reaches a respectable 361 Attack. This may seem underwhelming compared to some of the powerhouses flying around OU, but in reality, it reaches crucial benchmarks that not only allow it to put key threats on your team in a much more solid place. In fact, Eelektross can nail some pretty unexpected and powerful OHKOs against certain threats as well. Eelektross's STAB Thunder Punch may not be as powerful as Wild Charge, but the lack of recoil + paralysis chance is more than worth it while still hitting the same notable benchmarks - so let's take a look at Thunder Punch first.

So you might be wondering, "Those are decent thresholds, but what about all the other Pokemon that can handle Thunder Punch?" This is where Eelektross's coverage comes in. For this set, I've found that one of the best combinations for Assault Vest is Drain Punch, Liquidation, and U-Turn. Not only do these three moves provide great coverage nailing a huge majority of OU for super-effective damage in tandem with STAB Thunder Punch, but each of the coverage moves provides uniquely powerful utility. Drain Punch provides tried-and-true Fighting-type coverage and allows Eelektross to remain healthy while punishing high HP switch-ins, Liquidation provides crucial coverage against specific threats key offensive and defensive threats while giving a chance to overpower threats normally out of range thanks to the 20% Defense drop chance from Liquidation, while U-Turn provides not only great Bug-type coverage to chunk Grass-types but additionally provides additional utility.

To start, let's take a look at Liquidation - one of Eelektross's most potent offensive coverage options.

Water-type coverage pairs excellently with Electric-type offensively, and allows Eelektross to either severely weaken or outright OHKO or 2HKO threats that would normally walk all over its Electric-type brethren. Additionally, Liquidation is boosted further in rain - turning some of those 2HKOs and 3HKOs into OHKOs and 2HKOs respectively. As for its next coverage option, Drain Punch in particular with Tera-Fighting allows Eelektross to muscle past certain threats (turning some 3HKOs into 2HKOs) while giving additional benefits such as resisting Sucker Punch. So let's take a look at Drain Punch - first pre-tera, then post-tera!

The HP recovery can be crucial for Eelektross's defensive profile, but before we get into that we still have one more move to go over - U-Turn. Before we get into U-Turn, let's talk about Eelektross's Speed investment - Eelektross with 148 EVs in Speed reaches 173 Speed. This may not seem like much, at first, until you look at the notable benchmarks that it outspeeds.

Eelektross 173 Speed Benchmark - Potent Speed Wins

Brute Bonnet 104 EVs, Neutral Nature (172)
Ursaluna 140 EVs, Neutral Nature (171)
Scizor 20 EVs, Neutral Nature (171)
Corviknight 0 EVs, Neutral Nature (170)
Skeledirge 0 EVs, Neutral Nature (168)
Alomomola, Pelipper, Scizor 0 EVs, Neutral Nature (166)
Glastrier 252 EVs, Neutral Nature (159)
Magnezone, Grimmsnarl, Goodra-Hisui 0 EVs, Neutral Nature (156)
Azumarill, Iron Hands, Kingambit, Ursaluna 0 EVs, Neutral Nature (136)

Not only does this powerful benchmark allow Eelektross to get the one-up on many severely potent threats, but it additionally allows for U-Turn to be both faster and slower than relevant threats for either outspeeding or slow-turning. So what kind of damage output does U-Turn have? Let's take a look to see how various Pokemon are able to take U-Turn from Eelektross.

Defensive Prowess (Physical + Assault Vest Special)
Dream_Assault_Vest_Sprite.png

So now you might be thinking "Alright, so the eel's got great offensive synergy and hits hard, but what about his defensive profile?" Eelektross with an Assault Vest and 76/16/16 EV investment has a defensive profile of 330/200/300 (330/200/200 if the Assault Vest is knocked off or tricked away), allowing a slew of powerful hits to be survived comfortably. This is especially the case on a Pokemon like Eelektross that has no weaknesses, along with resistances to several common types + its Ground-type immunity + Tera-Fighting giving additional resistances to types such as Bug, Dark, and Rock while keeping its Ground immunity. So to start, let's look at Eelektross's Defense and Special Defense stat with Assault Vest to see the powerful hits it can reliably tank (both pre-tera and post-tera).

Possible Teammate Options

Alomomola

alomomola.gif

Alomomola is one of my favorite defensive Pokemon to use in general and it has a bevy of wonderful options to support Eelektross and keep it healthy thanks to access to moves like Wish + Whirlpool along with access to the crucial ability Regenerator and a solid mono-Water defensive typing. Additionally, Alomomola is physically bulky which helps to make up for Eelektross's comparatively limited physically defensive profile.

Dragapult
dragapult.gif

Dragapult is one of the most flexible Pokemon in OU, and it partners quite well with Eelektross. Dragapult's Normal+Fighting-type immunity and blazing speed not only complement Eelektross's Electric and Tera-Fighting typings quite well, but the speed with U-Turn allows you to maintain momentum as part of a DragTross double-turn core with both fast-turn and slow-turn for additional chip damage + mind games.

Skeledirge
skeledirge.gif

Skeledirge is one of my favorite OU staples (I refuse to believe it's UU for long) and partners exceptionally well with Eelektross. Not only are its Fire/Ghost STABS extremely potent in combination with Eelektross's coverage, but its access to reliable recovery, Unaware, and Torch Song + Shadow Ball and Will o' Wisp completely blank some of Eelektross's most common answers.

Toxapex
toxapex.gif

Toxapex not only has access to Regenerator in the same way that Alomomola does, but can utilize Baneful Bunker, Haze, or various other tools to break your opponent's utility or set up sweepers + allows you to punish physical attackers. A team staple that should never be forgotten about, especially with its ability to go mixed defensive or, lately, offensive.

Conclusion
Ghetsis_Eelektross_Adventures.png

Eelektross isn't a one-click nuke, nor is it some impenetrable wall; however, Eelektross has a unique combination of traits that allow it to compress handling a multitude of potent threats into a single slot in a way that no other OU Pokemon can reliably. If you're looking for a slow, semi-bulky, hard-hitting momentum pivot for your team - look no further than Eelektross, one of the coolest Pokemon ever designed in my humble opinion.

I'm working on Kricketune still; the Kingambit suspect opened my eyes to a new potential niche so I'm exploring that direction for the Delelelele-whoooooooooop Bug.

Since kingambit is the main suspect, what partners use to support kingambit out? or just good kg pairs in general. We've talked a lot about counters but not as much about teammates I think
Glowking is pretty good imo, type synergy + fsight/reception giving gambit more potential to do gambit things

I have returned. To what exactly? 2 things:

1) Kingambit suspect happened (Surely it stays OU)

View attachment 538330

Conclusion
View attachment 538336

2) Morkal made an Eelektross post. My second favorite Electric type (no points for guessing the favorite)- and possibly my favorite pokemon out of gen 5. Spot on as usual. Gain that clout my friend, you deserve it.

The only problem is that without Tera, Glowking shares the Ground weakness that Gambit does. Tusk can put pressure on both.
True, although Kingambit is usually worth the Tera usage for that reason and, while you obviously don't want to stay in on Tusk to use it, fsight helps deter Tusk from staying out too long in the first place

True, true. I like pairing it up with Ghosts since you end up hard resisting most of their weaknesses, and they are immune to one of Gambit's (or more in some cases.)

if hes down id liek to know his elo due to the fact im like 1600 rn regardless ill play him

I'd be delighted to play you, I'm 1600 on my second alt, and I'm 1500 on another alt and on my main. (I know pretty low, but I've been testing a lot)

Can the match be Bo3, SV OU, with selfmade teams?

P.S: When I suggested you lacked the skill, I was just agreeing with AM's previous post. However, my intentions don't matter that much here. Tell me whenever you want to play.

Also regardless of intentions my issue with ur post was that Mfs with no qualification trying to put down people better then them, I’m fine with the bo3 but any team not just self made.
