one of my biggest grievances with you is how quickly youve accepted this theory as complete and utter fact because i think its a bit ridiculous and it kinda reads to me like youre pocketing laurel hard. why would scum target you with this?
you posted this right as I was playing a tour series but basically for the reasons Laurel has given. I think if they understood the setup, then they did it to ensure I wouldn't be PR, and to ensure that they weren't putting more PRs into the game than they needed to by "wasting" their charges all on me. I think that I'm a sensible target for this, because I have an overinflated presence in mafia games compared to my actual worth as a player, and so throwing votes on me looks kinda towny cos they can pretend to be drinking my juice but actually if I get a role then I'm prob misfiring with the PR abils I kinda suck as town PR.
I've also just chainsmoked scum games so could be considered somewhat LHF to vote out or, more likely, to shoot out of the game. I'm a good candidate for being nked early and not a particularly common early doc target.
If they didn't understand the setup and thought they were just throwing charges on me and I'd definitely get whatever PR I wanted, I think it does still make sense for them to throw all their charges on a town player, assuming that their team doesn't have anyone who people wouldn't blink at having a bunch of charges. A lot of diff players can charge me up and if they claim it honestly people will be like "eh, fine", and most scum teams won't have a player like that. The other main possibility is Tommy, but he was the first to point out how the setup actually worked (least votes above 0 gets the role) so he's happily precluded from this universe. It means that their charges can't be used to find each other, by town doing the maths during mass claim and working out the holes, but also means that their charges haven't powered up town in a broad manner, instead all being on one player and therefore deleted when that player dies. They still intend to shoot me out of the game here, in fact they probably intend to do that more so than in universe one.
I just think on balance, it's the clearly optimal scum strategy. I don't think that should be in question, the question instead is do a scum team come up with and execute this strategy during the pre-game.
Considering at least 2 people are probably lying about charging me or not, I think the answer is yes.
