[SET]
Swords Dance (Iron Valiant) @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Dark / Steel
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Encore / Ice Punch
[SET COMMENTS]
Swords Dance Iron Valiant is both a powerful sweeper and revenge killer mainly seen on hyper offense teams. Its high Speed combined with Booster Energy allows it to outspeed +1 setup sweepers like Mega Gyarados, Gouging Fire, and Volcarona, as well as naturally fast targets like Mega Lopunny and Darkrai. The popularity of specially offensive Iron Valiant can allow this set to catch opponents off guard and give it a free opportunity to use Swords Dance against foes like Galarian Slowking. Swords Dance boosts Iron Valiant's power to dangerous levels, enabling it to OHKO foes neutral to Fighting like Corviknight and Alomomola with a favorable roll or minor chip damage. Knock Off provides valuable coverage for Psychic-types like Galarian Slowking and Iron Crown, and it can also take down walls like Ferrothorn and Garganacl after they use Tera Ghost. Encore can lock physically defensive walls like Alomomola and Landorus-T into recovery moves or status moves like Defog, which can give Iron Valiant a good chance to set up. Ice Punch is an alternative to Encore for Landorus-T and Dragonite. Tera Dark gives Knock Off a STAB boost, allowing it to do more damage to foes like Galarian Slowking and Zapdos. Tera Steel, on the other hand, provides Iron Valiant with resistances to common priority moves like Bullet Punch from Mega Scizor, Ice Shard from Weavile, and Extreme Speed from Dragonite, which can prevent it from being revenge killed. Tera Steel can also be paired with Encore to take advantage of Sludge Bomb from Galarian Slowking and Toxic from foes like Alomomola. Iron Valiant pairs well with teammates like Iron Boulder, Ogerpon-W, and Raging Bolt, since they can pressure common checks for it, such as Zapdos, Dragonite, and Dondozo. Iron Valiant is very fragile to priority moves due to its low bulk and the side effects of Close Combat, so Tapu Lele's Psychic Surge can protect it from priority moves and allow it to safely sweep. In addition, Tapu Lele and Iron Valiant can take care of each other's checks. Iron Valiant can break Galarian Slowking and Heatran, while Tapu Lele gives physical walls like Dondozo a hard time. Iron Valiant also appreciates other Knock Off users on its team to help wear down Unaware users like Dondozo and Skeledirge by removing their Heavy-Duty Boots and Leftovers.
