I wouldn't say it doesn't require skill, and the skill level really isn't what's being argued to begin with. VGC is the only tier where you can compete for actual prizes/money/whatever the winners get, so smogon decided it should be on the same level as standard OU. I don't really see what else could go in that slot that takes skill and is a modern metagame.

I had a 7 turn match!!! But that's kind of how it is for every metagame, I've never really seen one top tier player just dominate repeatedly in every match without getting lucky / haxed.
