Really the only time I’ve ever really needed to use a Strategy beyond ‘hit it until I win’ is the early game where it’s much harder to even do that, so you actually have an incentive to use Leech Seed and even Growl. By the time Gym 3 is beaten that strategy just isn’t needed anymore
