    joins the politics thread
    debate is on gaza
"well I think maybe that both sides have some violence"
IMMEDIATELY get yelled down by multiple people, even (by their own admission) personally attacked
"let's try to establish a mutual understanding!"
you're just a facist, you're forcing your beliefs onto us, you're stupid, you should get out now!

the politics thread is a dumpster fire at the best of times but this is just hysterical
I don’t really have a good answer to where the point of stoppage should be as it hinges on the cultural response and the actionable items surrounding it. In the end, something has to give in society. I’d love to be wrong as to that being the catalyst of course — the less blood shed, the better — but I am not optimistic as things stand

My issue is that violence is causing the issue and being unwilling to be violent in opposing it arguably gives the other side leverage. Peaceful protest arguably has limits and diminishing returns at a certain point, but I agree avoiding a cycle of death and injury is always ideal. We are trying to stop — not multiply — violence after all

It is indeed very hard to see a way out of this chaos without the use of violence, the tool we all know too well. Violent protests are a very hard tool to use strategically in a calculated manner, which should be definitely the way to go about it if violence is to be used in any way. It is close to impossible in my opinion.

Not being able to use it in the more desirable calculated and strategic manner, makes it almost confirmed to only create more problems than it could ever solve to a much larger degree.
