Cars 2 saved my parents marriage No joke, they were getting a divorce. My Dad was shopping for apartments and about to move out. I was 11 and desperate for that not to happen. So I decided we all needed to do something together, anything, so I begged and begged and begged for us to go see Cars 2. I wasn’t even that interested in the movie it’s just that was what was out at the time. So they agreed and we went to see it. Usually my parents would sit together when we went to the movies but this time they put my little sister and I in between them. They both were so sad and just had that glossy dead eyed look going into the film. Then the movie started and we had a good time as a family. Maybe it was jsut because we wanted to have a good time because we hadn’t had one in a while but we laughed at Larry the Cable Guy and the action was pretty good. My parents actually laughed and enjoyed something for the first time in months. Afterward, my little sister and I ran down the halls of the movie theater making car noises and pretending we were spies. I remember looking back and seeing my parents smiling and holding hands the whole way to the car. They never brought up divorce again after that. So yea, I will always love this movie and it will always hold a very special place in my heart and always remind me of that day. Is it flawed? Absolutely and I don’t deny that, not going gush ofer it or anything but I will say I think people make it out to be awful and it’s just not. It’s a pretty good movie. Not Pixar’s best by any means but pretty good.
