  • my exact words were "largest death toll in history". it doesn't matter whether you consider the at least 32 million deaths caused by the great leap forward to be intentional or not, what matters is that they happened, they happened on mao's watch, and that's quite well-documented. whether he was a murderer or an idiot, he was responsible for those deaths

but if we're going to split hairs, fine, technically i was wrong about the highest death toll—thomas midgley jr tops the list by a country mile. this will be the last i'll say on the matter

idk if you meant this or not but in the recent tera thread post:

my brother in christ the entirety of the fighting game genre is essentially three interconnected Rock Paper Scissors games which you are on an ATB timer to act in
basically every other genre accepts guessing and soul reads as not only a part of the game but a big part of some of the games, so it's not "a competitive game" thing, it's just smogon

Then what are the problems Tera brings? Are there any? Having to make reads is not a problem. Having to weigh the possibility of any Pokémon turning into a type that beats you and hitting you with a super effective STAB move any time a Pokémon comes out, well, it's a question worth asking if that's good for the game.

At no point did I say "players should never have to guess or predict" but my argument Tera Blast's existence makes guessing a Tera type or timing incorrectly much more punishing than it needs to be
