Starmie did help. I improved from killing 2 or 3 pokemon to 4 or 5. I even managed to defeat someone. somewhat unrelated, but I have a 1-8-0 record.

IVs, EVs and Natures are a given. Metagross and Skarmory are both against fire, but only Metagross is weak to Ground and only Skarmory is weak to Electric. You're telling me to fix these weaknesses and I'll be set from what I can gather.
