Well one thing. You don't have to calibrate at all, since you're using the same cart. As long as you have a general range of what delays you hit on Platinum, you'll still hit the same delays if you start a new game. I average delays was 501 on my cart, it wasn't always the same. Sometimes I hit 491, sometimes I hit 511. 501 was just my average.
You need a minimum delay of 5000 and 5700 because if you want to have a certain name for your character when ID/SID abusing, you want those extra 10-20 seconds. Every time I was starting a new game, I had to name my character "Ragnar" just in case I hit my right delay. I mean, it wouldn't matter if you didn't care about your character's name. You never know, you might hit your delay, thinking you were way off, and suddenly you decided to use a real name instead of just "A". :)
And yeah, I'm not completely satisfied, just caught my eye a bit.
I just say to use a high delay because it gives you extra time to rest your fingers if need be, etc.
