    Why do username changes have such superflous requirements? This feels kafkaesque. I tried to reach you before to ask but to no avail.

    not sure if i fully understand the question but basically we don't actually want ppl to change their usernames on a whim since it's important to know who everyone is and it's annoying for tours and stuff, the idea behind the requirements is that we can give a change to ppl that have shown commitment to the community or simply have an old account

    In that case, name change should be more restrictive to those that are more known within the community rather than less known since it is more important to know who they are. Lesser known people should be able to change their username relatively freely because they have not participated in the community all that much for it to be important to know who they are.
