Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
How have people found Alomomola? I am running the standard trapper set and its been pretty solid as a defensive backbone by just shutting down most physically offensive mons and then passing massive wishes the rest of the game. I missed this guy in gen 8
I think it might be just because of all the hazards around but I have been finding myself avoiding LO on offensive mons a lot this gen, especially on physical attackers. Feel like I see helmet a lot on bulky teams and with the occasional TTar, you end up eating a ton of passive damage. I have...
I think the biggest loss of the recovery moves was how much it nerfs the CroCune type sets. I've got a lot of run from CroCune over the generations, but it feels like rest/sleep talk is a lot less reliable as a bulky strat than it was in prior gens. Part of that is the tempo of the current OU...
I like the grass cat. Flower Trick has been a 2-3HKO on the few that I have faced. Ive also caught a few out with good predictions like CC into their skeledirge on a predicted switch. Not an OHKO but enough damage to chip down with the next round of attacks.
What is the argument for Specs vs Scarf? I have had some success with a Scarf set, playing it similar to gen 8 Scarf Lele. Chi-yu is def too strong for the current meta but it has been pretty fun
The current metagame feels like it has much less immediate power than gen 8 did. Palafin, Bundle, and Flutter were all quite the powerhouse, but right now there are very few mons where I feel like I am going to lose something every time they switch in. I tried to make a team with mostly choice...
This was my first time trying for a suspect test, but getting reqs has been brutal. I have tried several different team structures and cores but can rarely make it past 8 games without eating multiple losses. I started with a team that was 8-1 or so before the suspect test and that ended up...
I ran Scarf with Spikes/u-turn/flower trick/knock prior to the dolphin/bundle bans. Trying to recreate then gen 7 Gren magic. It was pretty consistent at pressuring stuff and was a good revenge killer for those two targets in particular. Felt like I never clicked spikes
Just run hyper offense they said. Lose the first 3 games everytime in a row. HO has never been my style but the screens+cylcizar+4 sweepers strat has been way less consistent on low ladder than I would like
I was considering adding a Glaceon to my in game team, but this thread has killed any interest I had in that. Glaceon has been NU or lower every generation it has been in the game. That is not going to change regardless of how excited two posters are. A slow, specially attacking ice with poor...
Hyper offense is def really strong right now but don't think it means other playstyles are unviable. Ive gotten walked over by better players than me running BO or Stall. Its not always espartha speed boost go brrrr. I was never much of a stall player so can't say much for how to do that...
Thoughts on two mons:
First, Glimmora is easily my favorite mon this gen. I've mostly used the hazards set, but it has a wide enough movepool to do quite a bit of other things. The typing isn't too bad defensively and this thing is just made to set hazards. Love this mon. Also one of the core...
I dont disagree with this at all. I just wanted to compare the two moves and I think you really articulate why Revival Blessing feels uncompetitive. The cost is almost nonexistent.
