  • I think it stands for domain name system.
iti s really kind of cool.
There is a program you can use with pokegen where you can actual use your own server to send the pokes to your DS, but my internet provider blocked that :(

But when you trade normally, you go to the official GTS site where all the pokes people have left to trade are stored. If you saved one to trade and someone traded the poke you wanted, then when you go in to hceck on your trade, it drops out of the air and the new poke is added to your party.
If you tell your DS to go to a specific DNS address it will go there vs the official site when you go in for a trade. The pokeGTS or pokesav GTS send the poke you requested to the computer address where you requested it from and it pops down into your DS like you traded for it.
I can send you a pokeGTS link to try out. I would suggest you try that part first, to make sure it works with your DS and internet before you actually make your own .PKM file
If you are interested, I can go thru how to enter a poke on pokesav. Maybe on a xat chat tonight when I get home. It would be easier.
Finally you can use pokegen to do the same thing as pokesav. It is a file you download to your computer. It is handy because you can open up a .pkm file you created elsewhere, then modify it.
Also if you have a good Action replay or flash cart, you can use the AR or flashcart for step 2, getting your pokes on your game. If not, once again you can use pokegts or pokestation GTS to updload. I have used action replay, and it is the easiest I have used, but my AR is not working now.
I want to get a flashcart. I am sure that is best.
    This is pokeGTS
I think it has a wasy to create a .PKM like pokesav, but I don't use taht feature
    http://pokegts.us/Distribute.aspx
I use the distribute pokemon option for step 2 because it is more reliable thatn the pokestation version.
You browse for the .PKM file and either send it directly to the GTS, or you can create a link to use later. I create a link, post it in my private group on smogon, and then downlaod mulitples pokes at a single sitting using the links.
Sometimes you can do both steps at once
Pokestation has that option when it works
    http://pokestation.net/db/online-pokesav/gen-5/
Notice there are two buttons on the bottom - one for saving a PKM file, another for sending the pokemon to the GTS. The site says the Send to GTS option is currently working, but sometimes the internet providers will block this process.
I will get into the particulars of this site later.
This is site I use most, but I save the .PKM and then use pokeGTS to upload - step 2
It is really pretty simple, and yet complex.
    2 steps basically
    1) you create a .pkm file
    2) you load it onto your game cartridge

There are various ways of doing both steps - this will take more than one message
I feel like the people who discovered this stuff out had absolutely nothing better to do...how do people even begin to think about this stuff? I would have never guessed in a million years stuff like RNG even exists.
The funny thing is this site has probably greatly aided pokesav and pokegen people in perfecting their craft.
By using this site, you can mkae your pokesav poeks more and more legit looking LOL
Feel free to ask me any other questions you have. I can't promise I will knoweverything, but I will try to give you a straight answer.
The real reason in my humble opinion is that the people who control the competitive pokemon scene have a relationship with (and many times are thesame people as) the RNG faction. So they want these RNGers who have put in so much effort creating their prototype RNG pokes to have a monopoly (even though they then clone the RNG pokes to mass distribute)
If you want to compete in official tourneys, you need rng pokes
If not, then pokesav or pokegen are fine for casual tourneys, WIFI battle finder, or battling with friends.
there is a place you can check legitimacy - pokecheck

RNG is were you take advantage of the random number generator to create pokes or other events in your game based on how you reset your game. I have never tried it, but its one of those things that either you get, or you don't get. I have heard a lot of people say it is hard. there is a thread for RNG and I am sure lot's of people would be glad to teach you as it is a sort of cult in some ways.

Pokesav or pokegen is much easier, which is why the RNG people hate it.
People don't want you redistributing pokes because distributing "pure" pokemon is very much a power control kind of thing. RNG is the official pokemon distribution method of choice for smogon. The competitive world recognizes RNG as "legitimate" pokemon. The official reason is because the poke is generated in game and can't have moves that are illegal or Ev's higher than the 510 max Evs (252 per stat)
    that's fine
I am currently big into Little cup
If you want I can help you get some pokemons via pokesav
Basically you have the computer send pokemon wirelessly to your gme like you are trading with someone.
I will send you an invite to a group were I have saved some links to pokesav little cup pokemon
