  • its the least we can do for a bunch of grandpas with their best player out, just showing professional courtesy ;)
    what is going on

paying matt would create cap space, not cost it

    WHAT'S GOING ON
he'll basically take up all our cap room, but I wouldn't be surprised if we make some moves to free up cap to sign a veteran CB come training camp, like what we did with Brian Williams a few years ago.
the Saints didn't have any problem with that, amirite?

I'm just sick of QBs having 6-7 seconds in the pocket... idk if I told you but I literally counted to 10 seconds in the playoff game against Seattle that Russell Wilson had before he scrambled for ~20 yards.
not sure how to feel :x

sounds like we're deferring a lot of money to later years, and that Jackson's deal is 3 years/$18 mil, $10 mil guaranteed... so probably like a $9 million signing bonus, $1 million this year and $4 million in 2014/2015 ($4 million cap hit this year, $7 million the other years)... I guess I'd be ok with that.

if TD can work a miracle and resign Grimes and draft a good pass rusher I feel like we can win the super bowl, but otherwise I don't think we'll have a good enough D to contend with Seattle/San Fran next season.

    ps your link is broken
yes, that's exactly what Flacco's contract is like cap-wise, except Flacco gets something like $66/120 million of the money (but only $35/120 million of the cap hit)
that he has a really fucking good agent

or it's structured like flacco's deal, the guaranteed stuff is the first 3 years of his contract, then the money escalates a lot and we can either choose to release him or pay him... dunno, though, was hoping that even though he was a LT we could get him for like $4 million a year
looked into it, this site puts us at $17.8 million. $10 mil in dead money, though, thanks to Dunta and he-who-shall-not-be-named :(
good thing Gonzo is coming back... Cook, Bennett, and Walker have all already signed. We'd have been forced to pick someone in the draft or go with what we have :0

I think we're doing ok in cap room, not positive... Moore's cap hit was only like $4 million which is pretty good. media sites tend to overestimate cap room anyway, I know for a fact that we were reported as being close to/over the cap last season before it started but ended up having a couple million to spare under it.
dude I told you, we don't have the cash right now for anyone big.

I could do without Mendenhall, though.
    Svitek's a free agent too.

I'm not sure of the specifics, but since Tony's at the retiring age I think we could sign him to like a 3 year deal with a $7 million signing bonus... I think we only get $2.3 million in cap hit this year, then next year when he retires that cap hit goes with him. not positive but if we do resign him that's what we'll do if it's legal.

This was the only year Baker hasn't been injured, and he was pretty decent. I think we can get him for very cheap, even if he's at a premium position. Not sure I can trust somebody who's never played a snap before.
don't go crazy, unless we start handing out extensions out of our asses we're not going to be able to afford much with Tony G probably coming back.

I really, really don't want SJax unless we can't get him fairly cheap. We still need Baker, a cornerback, and a pass rusher - Quizz/Snelling won't be any worse than Turner/Quizz was, and we did pretty ok last season if I do say so myself.
kay this is an acceptable answer

I like stephen A smith but I can do without skip
man I can't understand why you love sherman so much

a little trash talking is great, but fuck how could you like somebody who spends an entire four minute interview being a confrontational dick???

part of the reason I love roddy, he doesn't let his mouth outshine his play... skip was absolutely right, sherman is letting his trash talking be the reason he's well known, not his ability. he's gonna get what's coming to him one of these days!
Cook would be pretty cool if he could get it all together.

Delanie Walker might be a good cheap guy to get too. He did a little bit of everything for the 49ers, I think he's pretty underrated.
I honestly think a lot our money is gonna go into keeping moore/baker, we'll only have enough room for gonzo or grimes or a couple smaller free agents or something.

Moore will probably cost $5-6 million a year, Baker could easily get more than he's worth (being a LT and all) so that leaves us with maybe 6-10 million left for anyone else. our first round pick will take some of that, so there really isn't much room for anyone else without some restructured contracts.

cutting Jerry would save us less than $1 million in cap room, so I don't think he'll go. Babs, on the other hand, wouldn't be a crazy drop... he's what, 32? it would save us almost $5 million against the caps.

    I just saw Flacco's contract. I lol'd
not sure I can watch it... couldn't watch the tony interview either QQ

ideally we'd have Babs/Peters/Walker on the d-line (ideally ideally we'd have a true nose tackle, i hear there's a pretty good one out of uga this year!), a true pass rusher to go on the outside with Biermann, and Spoon + Dent/Nicholas on the inside. of course, finding a nose tackle AND an OLB in this draft would be doubtful, but I believe in TD.

but first things first, we gotta find a way to resign the guys we have.
with Abe gone, do you think we'll make a permanent move to the 3-4? you think we'll be able to keep Moore/Baker and Gonzalez now? are we gonna make a legit run at keeping Grimes?

    I hope so :x
