Resource SV OU Bazaar - The Indigo Disk Edition!

Hey Guys. I would like to present a team I built around my favourite water starter. This is a dual screens Feraligatr Hyper Offence team.

https://pokepast.es/22bef5eb1e0f5ee8

I went for lead Excadrill due to mold breaker with the ability to get up rocks on Hatterene and spin at the same type. The typing is useful which helps me check raging bolt when needed and rock tomb is to slow down the opponent and Earthquake is stab. Tera Ghost to block spins. Deoxys-speed is dual screens with taunt and timid 248 HP and max speed with 8 Spa. Its the fastest screen setter which can taunt. I then went with Feraligatr with a typical dragon dance 3 attacks set. Its Jolly with speed investment to outspeed iron valiant at +2 with jolly. Tera Dark is for a stronger crunch. Latios is max speed with HP investment to live a play rough from ogerpon wellspring at full and to survive a moonblast from Iron Valiant at full. Timid Max speed with enough Spa and its a double dance sweeper with tera steel to not get poisoned. Its my special attacker. I then have Haxorus who is sd scale shot and the stall breaker of the team. It has mold breaker to deal with unaware, sturdy etc with tera blast electric to fuck over corvnkight. CC smacks kingambit. Scale shot gives it a speed bost with tera electric. Its typical with jolly max attack max speed. Kingambit is the dark and ice resist of the team with a high attack stat and the potential to clean. Lum Berry is for status as status is crippling.

I got to 1620 peak with this team max on a main after playing most of the games on alt. I spent a lot of time usually in 1500s with this and on my test account the Peak was 1567. Here are the replays.

This team has some major issues with Lowkix and I have struggled against opposing kingambit sucker 50-50s. I would still say its a fun team to try out.

Since Kyurem is now banned, I got back into playing around with rain again. The team I am sharing is just an update / refresh of my Gen 8 Volcanion rain "balance" team that focused on a 3 mon defensive backbone and overpowering the opponent with sheer bulk and power. Mr. Apex Predator himself is the only set-up sweeper on the squad, thus bears the mantle as the flagship mon.

Concept: There are four main headaches for the rain playstyle now with Kyurem being gone - Rillaboom, Ogerpon-Wellspring, Raging Bolt, and Kingambit. The latter three IMO are broken so in hypothesizing the squad I wanted at least two checks, a primary and secondary, for each of these mons. Roaring Moon ended up being that "glue" mon, as it can soft check all four in a pinch.

Piloting tips:
-Special Defense Pelipper, Special Defense Iron Treads, and Physical Defense Zapdos make a solid core that compliments each other well. They are intentionally slow for creating optimal positioning of your three attackers. This is by design! (example: Zapdos can U-turn on Gliscor and Lando)
-Poison Pelipper absorbs T-Spikes, Grass Iron Treads is for emergency spins, and Dragon Zapdos is a back-up check for Ogerpon-W.
-Basculegion-F is a very good, underrated Swift Swimmer because of her good bulk and ability to spam Shadow Ball.
-Roost allows Roaring Moon to be used defensively with the option to save sweeps for later.
-Samurott-H is the main breaker and is unwallable long-term. It is also the primary Kingambit check. If your opponent has Kingambit, don't let Sam-H take damage (use the pivots to bring it in). Aqua Cutter in Rain does >90% to Kingambit. If it doesn't kill, just switch out and you can Aqua Jet later. Against fat teams, Knock Off on Dondozo / Alomomola first. Use Ceaseless Edge next time out until they are forced to heal. After which, next entry they will fall to Tera Water Aqua Cutter in rain.

EDIT: I love playing with this squad. I have developed a preference for Knock Off > Earthquake on Roaring Moon. It sacrifices some added defensive insurance and coverage for more immediate damage and progress making. Knock Off is amazing. It gives Roaring Moon a lot more general utility and power output early-mid game when sweeps aren't obvious. Awesome when used with Roost.

POST-KYUREM UNBAN EDIT: This sucks. Kyurem was unbanned. This team is immediately less viable. Only thing that can be done without changing the mons is changing Pelipper or Iron Treads to Tera Steel. Not a good long term fix..

I’m currently testing changes to keep the same core of Basculegion-F, Sam-H, Peli, Iron Treads. The current fix is:

Zapdos —-> Choice Band Scizor

Roaring Moon —-> Dragonite

For Dragonite, the set being tested is Dragon Dance, Roost, Ice Spinner, Thunder(punch).

Thunder vs. Thunderpunch and the best Tera type are being evaluated.

Very cool team, planning on laddering w/ it. It also taught me a new philosphy to apply while teambuilding, so thank you! Have you considered making Hamurott AV/Boots/Sash with Encore? The Kingambit matchup looks dubious.

Thank you!! No, haven’t considered changing Hamurott since the point of the team is to set Hamurott up to mow things down with rain boosted Aqua Cutter. The team is fatter than standard rain builds so Vs. Gambit there are many outs early and mid-game. Zapdos & Iron Treads both live +2 Sucker with up 2 fallen (3 fallen is a roll). Hamurott and Roaring Moon live +2 from full with five fallen and keep in Mind that Aqua Jet invalidates Sucker Punch if you are low on health and get into a bind. Another tip your opponent is desperate enough to try to revenge kill Basculegion-F using Kingambit you can just Tera Water, eat the Sucker if they aren’t bluffing and OHKO it with Surf.

Rain boosted Aqua Cutter is crazy. Just for reference it is non-contact and they better have a fat Water Resist:

252+ Atk Choice Band Sharpness Samurott-Hisui Aqua Cutter vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Corviknight in Rain: 261-307 (65.2 - 76.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Choice Band Sharpness Samurott-Hisui Aqua Cutter vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Kingambit in Rain: 318-375 (93.2 - 109.9%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO

You are welcome! Here's a concept I brought back from Gen 7&8 - Grassy Terrain + Sun. The idea is to expose how cracked Venusaur is. This squad needs way less explanation than the rain. IMO Sun is better than rain this gen.

Grassy Terrain Sun
This one is simple to play. Sweep with Venusaur or Rillaboom. Ceruledge breaks everything (even Dondozo if you Tera). Also, Great Tusk is OP and the gives an out vs Raging Neck. Temper Flare OHKOs all the dumb Corviknight that switch into Headlong Rush. From there you clean house with Rilla. Eject Button gives early game momentum to start Venusaur or Ceruledge breaking their team from turn1 . You can run Miracle Seed too on Rilla instead if you want. It makes a notable difference in damage output.

Trick Room Mimikyu
:sv/Mimikyu: :sv/Ursaluna: :sv/Cresselia: :sv/Hatterene: :sv/Iron Hands: :sv/Kingambit:
I made a trick room team and i think it's worth sharing because it's a unique and rare playstile. When you play this it is hyper offensive, cause you only have a few turns in trick room to abuse. You have to make aggressive plays.

Hatterne is often the lead mon, sets up trick room, and then dies with a healing wish or misty explosion getting you a free switch in to your attackers, and maximum trick room turns, all while preventing rocks. Healing wish is a full recovery for later in the game for the first pokemon that switches in without full health.

Cresselia is also a trick room setter that leaves with healing wish. It eats almost any hit so can almost always get a trick room off. I think it's impossible to have 2 healing wishes pending at the same time, so be aware of that.

Mimikyu is my favourite mon on this team. Most of the time you can invite your opponent to attack into the mimikyu because it can take one hit guaranteed anyway. And then on the 2nd turn you want to die, so your other pokemon can come in with momentum. Even better mimikyu learns destiny bond so you can take your opponent with you. Destiny bond stays up until you make a new move but you can't use it consecutively. But since you have a negative priority move in trick room, you can make it incredibly difficult to play around the destiny bond because you essentially stall the moment you will make a new move. Really fun to pull of, i have some replays.

Iron hands is such a menace, i decided to give it belly drum. It can often try to set up multiple times a game thanks to the healing wish support. if hands pulls off a b-drum he becomes unstoppable (which happens often vs opponents trying to protect stall the trick room turns or make a switch) The remaining trick room turns can be used to sweep or even regenerate health with drain punch. And Hands is healthy he can keep going outside of trickroom as well.

Ursaluna is just so strong. Once again the healing wish support makes him so much better. Dealing with a ursaluna twice is just so hard.

Kingambit is a no brainer, benefits from trick room but is also strong if you fail to get it up. And can clean the game. It's ability is mainly good in the later stage of the game. But with a fast paced team like this that can be as soon as turn 8.

Hope you have fun.

Update:

After lots of play and variation, the refresh of this team works best in the version below:
Kyurem Update

Changes summary:
Basculegion-F to Basculegion M: Male is a lot stronger overall and with Rock Head can OHKO Kyurem from full with Head Smash. No, I will not use Barraskewda. Spin blocking is goated and Wave Crash goes hammer. Zapdos in practice handles Zama well enough.

Roaring Moon to Kyurem: a friend put me onto the concept of Anti-Leading HO when playing rain. Kyurem still gives me that Dragon typing but also has favorable lead matchups vs. Sam-H and Glimmora so that I don't have to fight hazards all game. A plus is Mixed DD Kyurem just seems reasnoably strong vs. most team comps, fat and offense alike.

Iron Treads Tera Grass to Tera Fairy: Assuming you don't need to beat Raging Bolt, Iron Treads with Tera Fairy does a fine job and checking Kingambit if during the course of the battle Sam-H can't hold.

Variant 2:
Golduck & Dragapult - same squad but uses Specs Pult + Nasty Plot Golduck. Pretty fun and solid.

I'm still trying to build a Dragonite version. Nothing consistent yet.

Have you tried Tera Blast with Tera Water on Roaring Moon? I have theorymonned it to bop Landorus-Therian and Great Tusk, but have never tried it myself.

HO team dump (maybe some classify as BO but whatever); these will all look very similar i wont even lie, i definitely have a style when building and my teams definitely dont appeal to everyone. they are usually pretty standardized, i love moth + ironpress zama for example as an offensive core, tusk is always my favourite removal pick etc. but i try to add at least some spice to them whether it be a fun set on a standard mon or some more exotic picks every now and then. ive used all of these to ladder up to and at the 1700s (account is jpapaio, GBD777 turned into a shitty team joke acc lmao); enjoy

PUFFERFISH
Wish-fish + parting shot bulky offense
New team idea based around using wish pass Alo with pecharunt to get safe switch ins for bulky heavy hitters like iron hands and raging bolt. Team benefits since it reduces the need for hazard removal as you can just heal away the chip from hazards. Also lengthens the lifespan of your rocky helmet user (I chose lando but any bulky flying type works for this team tbh).
3 ground weaknesses is not a great look but the team does well since most of the ground types in the tier are defensively oriented.
Team has a tough time into zama, I've been toying with the notion of giving raging bolt roar over t-bolt but that just seems so bad. Been having fun with this team in the 1500-1600 Elo range.
