1.Introduction:
Let me start by introducing myself.Hi everyone. My name is Let's rumble shall we on smogon and inertialinitiative on showdown.I'm known affectionately as
"the jolteon guy" on OU room. My main motivation for getting #1 was a little petty however important non the less ever since Pinkacross got #1 with sylveon in march I though to myself I will do it with Jolteon.
I always thought sylveon got the most out of every eeveelution and gamefreak constantly ignores jolteon.Someone gotta show them who once ruled OU.

2.The team:
jolteon.gif

Jolteon @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Volt Absorb
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Thunderbolt
- Alluring Voice
- Volt Switch
I tried various jolteons however this one worked the best.It might not look like it however jolteon has many important niches.
1)It's a :zapdos: check
2)It's a complete counter to :raging bolt: with tera fairy
3)it's faster than :darkrai:
4)faster than some variations of :zamazenta:
5)beats will o hex dpult with tera fairy
6)fast pivot
Unlike :darkrai: who has to carry will o wisp or life orb sludge bomb to truly threaten ogerpon well spring :jolteon: can just volt switch and go to :hydrapple: which can tank any set except sd play rough(which can trade for).Jolteon unfortunately does struggle vs :iron treads: and :gliscor: however vs :landorus-therian: it can be chipped down and :great tusk: doesn't like alluring voice.:jolteon: also is faster than non-booster :iron valiant: (yes :darkrai: it too however it's not a pivot :jolteon: is both)
why :jolteon: over :raikou:?couple of different reasons
1)yes it's true raikou is better vs all grounds however
2):jolteon: is faster than non booster :iron valiant:,:darkrai:,some variants of :zamazenta:,:cinderace:,non scarf :meowscarada:,:greninja:, and even :weavile:
3)jolteon has volt absorb which is key in full countering :raging bolt: after tera
:sv/slowking-galar:
Slowking-Galar @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Def / 68 SpA / 172 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower
- Sludge Bomb
- Psyshock
- Ice Beam
Standard set don't think I have to explain much check to special :iron valiant: a special sponge poison fishing. It's also the teams check to special :kyurem:.
Psyshock allows it to defeat tera ghost :iron valiant: 1v1 if it's healthy. Also allows it to do damage to opposing AV :slowking-galar: and kill :iron moth:.
Flamethrower and Ice beam for targets like :corviknight: and :gliscor: respectively also allow it to beat a lot of the metagame 1v1.
:sv/great tusk:
Great Tusk @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Protosynthesis
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Body Press/headlong rush
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Spinner
- Rapid Spin
This is just a personal preferance.I prefer full defense tusk over the other variants cause I'm scared of :kingambit:.Now I choose Body press however there's an alternate set with headlong rush.It really depends on which one you want to Beat. The headlong rush version Beats weak armor :ceruledge:.The Body press variant Beats tera normal sd :gliscor: Before and after tera.
Both the mons give you issues it's Basically choose one to Beat and the other you have to play really well against.I choose gliscor.
Other than that standard stealth rock, and hazard removal. With the Body press set you do lose to :gholdengo: however you have :moltres: so you should Be fine in most scenarios.
:sv/moltres:
Moltres @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 80 Def / 160 SpD / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Will-O-Wisp
- Roost
- Scorching Sands/Roar
- Flamethrower
Don't pay too much attention to the evs it lived +1 knock from booster roaring moon. So,the evs are up to preferance.I honestly kept it the same cause it took hits from both physical and special hits.Check to non rock slide and non tera fire :dragonite: also check to :kingambit:(you can never have too many of those...) also kinda a check to :ceruledge:(yea this team struggles vs ceruledge) will o wisp is to spread burns and also scorching sands is for :heatran: alternatively you could use roar to phase out set up sweepers it checks :corviknight: most sets of :great tusk: :gholdengo: :weavile:
Moltres is also good into :iron valiant:,non stone edge :zamazenta:,:scizor:,:lokix:,:enamorus:
Moltres does struggle if knocked off however it's type does leverage it good enough before that
:sv/kingambit:
Kingambit @ leftovers
Ability: Supreme overlord
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252atk / 4spd / 252spe
Adamant nature
Kowtow cleave
iron head
sucker punch
swords dance
I highly doubt I need to introduce him however for the sake of completion let's do it.standard set outspeeds slower targets like :clefable:,:garganacl:
Hard counter to :pecharunt:,check to physical or choice locked :kyurem:,ghost tera allows it to beat some variants of :dragonite:,:zamazenta:,:corviknight:
Completely walls non flamethrower :slowking-galar:,also kinda walls :fezandipiti: to a lesser extend
standard gambit stuff beats weakened teams sucker punch mind games
you know this guy is stupid
:sv/hydrapple:
Hydrapple @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Giga Drain
- Fickle Beam
- Earth Power
The team is about jolteon however this guy is the mvp.He has gotten me out of so many situations. With tera poison hard walls all variants of :zamazenta:,beats non play rough :ogerpon-wellspring: 1v1 and even if it's play rough weakens it even for a knock out. Also uses a lot of :corviknight: as set up fodder if no brave bird and even it's flame body :moltres: helps out, they expect tera steel or tera fairy when it's tera poison suddenly sludge bomb :slowking-galar: or body press :zamazenta: no longer beats it(future sight variants of :slowking-galar: has to take massive damage from a +2 or even +4 attack and there's no guarantee I'll tera might preserve.
hydrapple also absolutely shreads the mixed dragon darts hex :dragapult: as it's simply not strong enough. Also a pseudo cousin against late game :kingambit:
can actually beat :lokix: 1v1 if it's non cb and has already set up even without tera.Last ditch check to physical :kyurem: if everything else died.
Heck if you successfully pp stalled blissey's soft boiled hydrapple cleans up stall a lot of the times too.
Hydrapple is also a decent check to :samurott-hisui: though watch out for surprise ice beam! Also a good sponge for :landorus-therian:,:great tusk:,:garganacl:.
The speeds just to speedcreep :ting-lu: which hydrapple also beats 1v1
Hydrapple is best used late game when the targets are weakened
Though this team can handle most stuff really well there are some teams which it can't:-
1):Ninetales-alola: are really bad for this team cause it relies on defensive utility of a lot of mons this team simply can't handle these teams too well :gliscor: or :ceruledge: will usually win the game you have to play really well
2)As I said :gliscor:/:ceruledge: beats this team you have to choose 1 to beat either sd :gliscor: or sd :ceruledge: cause usually the other can easily overwhelm the team you could try roar :moltres: just for this situation
3)Choice :gholdengo: could be annoying
4)future sight :slowking-galar: is annoying switch around however not difficult
5):kyurem: has always been annoying and always will be weary about what set it is
6)In theory a lot of things could be a threat like knock off :walking wake: or icicle crash :Weavile: since it won't get rocky helmet damage however these can be handled
7)This team relies mostly on hydrapple's late game and kingambit's late game sweeps so bulky structures are annoying however not unbeatable
8):Zapdos: despite me having 2 of the best zapdos checks in the whole game :jolteon: and :slowking-galar: :zapdos: is always annoying spreading para and pivoting so careful around it
3)Replays:
1) (gonna be honest my peak elo wasn't 2065 it was actually higher than that however the guy ahead of me 143forever tilted and went below me and for some reason my elo stayed at 2065 so yea this was the peak game)
2)vs lax on stream(yea he probably didn't take it as seriously however it's still a feat)https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogtours-gen9ou-850991

Conclusion:
Jolteon might not be as good as sylveon however once in a while the king has to show who was OU 5 gens in a row(even though he wasn't viable in 2 of them). While the challenge started in enmity it ended with friendship sylveon paved it's way for it's brother to prove itself I suppose I should thank it in that sense.LIke rivals in anime always push the protagonist.
Thank you sylveon good job jolteon

Congrats on finally finishing your long journey and being succesfull! Those 7 months fekt kuje a year to me lol.
Also I feel partially responsible for your peak, due to beating 143forever twice yesterday in the evening while he was still higher than you and taking roughly 50 Elo from him.

This link is an error, you need to make a space between the "(" and the replay link to fix it.

Also, wouldn't you rather wanna run Earthquake over Headlong Rush on the Tusk Set?
Thanks I'll fix it ehh headlong is fine sometime could use it for bulky gholdengo
