Jeff Lynne's Armchair Theatre is a hidden gem I've discovered recently. It's an album of fast-paced roots rock with a similar experience to what you'd associate with Electric Light Orchestra, but also has a really breezy, lightweight feel. Lift Me Up and What Would It Take are my favourite songs here. I think it's definitely worth a go if you love ELO.
Some others I've been liking are:
Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms
Dire Straits - Making Movies
ZZ Top - Eliminator
Supertramp - Breakfast In America
Chris Rea - The Road To Hell
Linda Ronstadt - Heart Like A Wheel
Heart - Bad Animals
I absolutely love Graceland, and It’s been my favourite, and most listened to album for almost half a year. It has such a lovely combination 70s rock, folk and indie, plus various South African influences to create a sound that fun, pleasant to listen to and highly rich. Paul Simon’s lyricism and take on storytelling is also a big highlight for me. I’d recommend anyone who hasn’t listened to Graceland to give it a try :)
I don’t think I have yet listened to enough music to make a proper list, so it’s been fun to look through this thread for some suggestion and listening inspiration. But I’d thought I’d share my own favourite album anyways.
