Pokémon Presents - Pokémon Day 2025 - Pokemon ZA Info & Pokemon Champions Announced

I wonder if a "Tera Preview" would be connected to the "Item Preview" or separated into its own option. Like I imagine most would either like to know both Items & Tera or go in blind, can't imagine there being a lot who would want one but not the other. Though, in theory, knowing only one could keep some level of surprise that could set and/or turn a battle.

Also I'm wondering if a Pokemon that's holding a Mega Stone/Z-Crystal would be able to Tera & Dynamax/Gigantamax or, like with Mega Rayquaza holding a Z-Crystal not being able to Mega Evolve, they'd want to restrict a Pokemon's option in battle to one super mechanic. Though to also do that they'd have to find a way to make it so a Pokemon could only have the option to Tera or Dmax/Gmax (maybe you'd need to preset a Pokemon with a "Tera/Dmax/Gmax Factor").

easiest option is just have all the buttons available where applicable.

secret easiest option is not having Dynamxing and Z Moves at all, though.

I mean they already need to figure out some way to handle Mega Rayquaza with Tera, may as well go the rest of the way with a Dynamax toggle. Z-Crystals wouldn't even require anything extra, just make them and Mega Stones prevent the holder from using Tera/Dynamax like how Rayquaza already can't Mega Evolve while holding a Z-Crystal.

Sorry for the double post, but Serebii posted a short Review of their time with the demo.

Some things to note;

- Hold items are back, not just for stones, he also had berries
- The battle royale trainer he first encountered was 10 levels higher than the team he had, which was preset in the demo, but still, wiped him out immediately as they also can launch surprise attacks
- 10% Zygarde leads you to rogue mega Pokemon
- Rogue mega battles are more like the noble battles in PLA
- Emma gives you the mega bracelet, and AZ can send in Mega Pokemon to assist you(?) I'm not sure if this was for the demo, or a tutorial, but you either get given mega Lucario to borrow / use? I'm guessing since you probably won't have access to mega evolution immediately, you'll borrow at first potentially? He says AZ but Emma is the one talking, so not sure if he just got mixed up
- Rogue Mega Pokemon won't take a lot of damage from regular Pokemon and you need a mega Pokemon to finish them off
- Mega Evolution is attainable in these battles (Not sure about regular battles) through the rogue Mega dropping orbs / power
- Defeating the rogue megas gives you their stone and Pokemon themselves (he doesn't specify whether or not it's a catch)
- Gameplay is super smooth and looks "good" (I know Joe has to be nice about this lol but we do see some genuine gameplay within the demo video he posted and it does look smooth)

Some other bits I noticed from the video;
- The pink crystals we've seen in trailers seemingly block your way sometimes, Joe approached a cluster blocking a ladder and then received a message saying "You don't have any Pokeballs"

From the VGC video;

- Boost moves are similar to the main series games in that they raise attack / special attack specifically, as Growth raised Bellsprout's Attack & Special Attack and then wore off (similar to PLA) - not sure if this was known but it makes things a bit fair again considering it was busted in PLA

- Movement speed can be reduced / raised. It doesn't specify between Bellsprout / Fletchling what caused it but I guess that's the action speed replacement

- Battle Zone's at night are random(?) given what the rival says about it "being in the same spot as last night" but seemingly alludes to it being unknown until a certain time idk?

Again, VGC says Absol "joined" them, so doesn't seem to be caught, it just comes along?

Map of lumiose from the demo.

Looks fairly small? My biggest worry is still how interesting exploration/the map is gonna be. Everything else from the demo looks great though, the battle system seems really fun and engaging.
To be fair, this seems to be the map zoomed out the most (based on the icon at the top right corner) and it isn't showing icons for shops and things like that. You also gotta consider the scale, the player character would occupy only a small dot in that map.

Still, the map only has 6 wild zones marked. I wonder if you have to discover them first before they show in the map, or if they're unlocked based on story progression.

Haven’t played any myself, but I’m told the Yakuza games all take place in fairly small areas and those generally get positive reviews and sell well, so…good news?

Austin John Plays showed off the stat screens in this game (and a full demo recording). Sizes are labeled now.

It also seems like the stat screen has another visible page available with the right stick, though that might be the equivalent of the L button currently. Chikorita's stats seem about within range of a regular Level 8 Gentle mon, though the mischievous characteristic should imply it has a 31 SpA IV if that's still determined the same, since the next lowest IV at 26 would result in a lower SpA stat assuming the base stat is the same.

Speaking of which, Characteristics are back unlike PLA, so IVs or an equivalent probably still exist.

I would really love a remix of it but it's also fine as is so....eh??

Quick thoughts on the demo-it looks clean. The catching seems to have taken a bit of a backseat given how little of it has been shown off. I think limiting how much you can heal is interesting and I'm also glad to see the limited inventory supposedly return. Not sure if the rocks blocking the road are just for the story or if they actually do hint at ride mons. Guess we'll see. Very excited for this game.

I was with a lot of folks who said there would be underground Lumiose/catacombs but once they revealed that the duopoly of this game was day and night, not underground and above ground, I started to doubt it was gonna happen. It still could but it seems very unlikely now. Maybe for a couple scripted events. Gen 10 will probably be a full region instead of a city so I think that will give a better opportunity for a layered world.

I am unsure. I do not dig the idea that Champions will have all mechanics at same time. If Natdex taught is anything is that it's a recipe for disaster

I would love watching the mess of such VGC, though.
Well they confirmed Megas and Tera would be available to use. My big question is that if Z-Moves are in. If that is, it would mean the return of Ultra Necrozma.

On the topic of money, I wonder what kind of monetization this game will have. We know the currency cannot be bought, but knowing TPC’s love of mobile games, I struggle to accept the possibility of games with 0 micro transactions.

I still wonder if it's actually F2P at all. That's kind of been the running assumption*, because surely of course it would be right, but I do not believe it's been said anywhere.
I could see potentially see it akin to Pokemon Friend which is a paid app on Switch but "free"...to start on mobile. It's basically just a demo and then you pay to get what the Switch gets before the extra DLC packs.

*which incidentally I feel as a community we've been making a lot of "because surely it would work like this" assumptions which is a bold move for a game that isn't even going to be doing the thing people who complain about battle ready Pokemon want: to not need to play the game to get usable Pokemon.

I very much appreciate that the indicator for size variance on a Pokémon's summary screen has returned from the Let's Go games. I'm crossing my fingers that it displays 9 different indicators in this game, each corresponding to a different message that the NPC in Mesagoza can give you. There's also the matter of Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist and how size variance will work for them. Will certain forms be locked to certain size indicators, or will you be able to catch a Super Size Pumpkaboo that shows a "small" indicator on its summary screen?

I'm looking forward to seeing how GameFreak decided to deal with this, as Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist have not yet appeared in a game that has the Scale value from Legends Arceus and Scarlet/Violet (the only Switch game where they previously appeared, Sword/Shield, only has the now-mostly-unused Height and Weight values)...

I also noticed a distinct Mega Evolution symbol on the far right of a Pokémon's name on their summary screen. The idea that Chikorita and other early Pokémon would be able to Mega Evolve is silly, so I believe this might actually be the game origin symbol for Pokémon obtained in Legends Z-A. If it is, it's honestly a little generic in my eyes- I was betting on the game origin symbol being a stylized Prism Tower instead.

Wdym by "underground stations"?
Oh my bad, I was watching AJP's demo playthrough and he opened the map showing the landmarks around at the time and one of them is a Train Station, for some reason I thought it was underground but it just's just this;

Which I guess sorta opens up more questions about why they would specifically need to mention an Airport or whatever but yeah, my bad, I thought it was an underground station considering Paris does have an extensive underground network.

It’s likely just world building for fun. Why does Drifloon’s Pokedex mention it likes to kidnap children? For fun.
