I love how it spends a good minute setting up Resident Evil vibes before dropping the ridiculously silly design on us like that.
Behold, Mega Victreebel in the flesh!
Yep. There it is. That is…. certainly a design choice. I can see the messed up fanart already. sigh
The sad part is I’m not joking at all about the fanart. Paying more attention what’s actually important here, the design is… okay. I can at least see the vision here unlike Dragonite, but it also looks… somehow worse at the same time? Conceptually it reminds me of Swalot, but that’s not the problem here. The problem here is that I have no idea where this thing would fit in the game. What’s-his-name, the Poison guy, doesn’t seem like he would use this, and while I could maybe see this being a story boss in a Wild Zone, aside from this kind of “sealed poison bottle” design they were probably trying to go for, I think the design gets lost in translation a bit with the big head leaves and what I believe are the vines holding the “bottle” closed. Should be good to have a new bulkier Grass/Poison though, particularly in an environment where Amoonguss and possibly Mega Venusaur might not exist.

Mega Victreebel is goofy but it's also terrifying for the Bugs who are all scared shitless that they're gonna get eaten. Even Pinsir and Heracross are scared of becoming Mega Victreebel's dinner.

i dont know how populat mega victreebel will be because a lot of vore fans are both into soft vore (i.e the person is eaten but not digested, very fantasical) and the appeal for them is being eaten by a character/person they like, which is more likely to be a human/furry-adjacent design because theyre more appealing. mega victreebel is just straight up a plant, which doesnt have lucario levels of appeal here lets be real.

Actually quite like this design against all my instincts, it's goofy but it fits Victreebel's whole vibe
Are the majority of the new Megas going to be from Gen I, though? I'm hoping they're giving some of the Kalos roster Mega forms and saving them for release but c'mon, give me something non-Kantonian to get interested in. Something from Sinnoh or Unova or even Galar would be neat.

This might just be lore-blurb, but it'd be neat if Mega Victreebel's ability in Champions gives its Poison-type attacks actual effectiveness vs Steel-types, like an offensive Corrosion.

I wonder if this was a new Poison move because all the Bug Pkm got confused, it seems. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if Mega Victreebel were to get Corrosion or just Poison Scrappy. In the latter's case, Mega Victreebel would still be unable to poison Poison Pkm since the type itself has an innate immunity to Toxic and the Poison status, but it would still be able to hurt Poison Pkm. I think that would be a neat distinction fromm Corrosion without overshadowing it. In any case, the design looks goofy, and I love how Victreebel was literally stalking the innocent Bug Pkm and then it went hunting mode. Very amusing.
Love this - always felt Victreebel line was shafted in favour of the oddish line - it’s great that Pokémon has done something with Victreebel at last.

some people have been mentioning this, but isn't the dizzy effect just what the pokemon looks like when its hp goes to 0 and is open to be caught? An actually confusing move would bring the little duckies
