Welcome to the National Dex RU Team Bazaar! A place where you can post your cool teams in a more casual environment than the usual RMT and have people get teams when first playing the metagame.

Rules:
  1. Playtest your teams before you put them up. Allowing us to get a more polished product in which people are able to make good use out of and get advice.
  2. Please provide an importable of the team and give a brief but thorough description of the team.
  3. Sample Teams Submissions can be posted and if you're doing it then be sure that you have a good description alongside it and m.
  4. Do not rate teams in this thread, you can do it in our Discord Server instead if you desire.

THE LADDER IS DEAD AND TIER SHIFTS HAVE ARRIVED
But with it comes a chance to show off a team I'm decently proud of that should still work in the new meta, and a small nomination for the VR. With that all being said let me introduce you all to Cofagrigus Balance. The team peaked #10 on the ladder and even with the new TTar / Pecharunt meta I think it can still put in some work!

I knew when trying out the meta I wanted to try something hazard stack-y, and for that I chose shocks. Probably the best dual hazard user in the tier, Shocks with a booster energy allows for fast hazards, revenge killing, and pivoting all in one slot. It compresses enough roles that the rest of the team can get away with running better utility moves. I like keeping it around as even without a booster it hits a great speed tier, 1 point above 100.

Knowing I wanted to keep hazards off my side for whatever offensive threats I chose I knew I needed a spinner rather than a defogger. Of the three or so good spinners in the tier I went with the most relevant one, Cyclizar. Another pivot, Cyclizar keeps hazards off and helps the team be even faster, it used to revenge non-scarf hydreigon but now its just a really decent spinner. Regenerator keeps it around for a while and knock always makes progress for Shocks hazards.

Arcanine-Hisui @ Choice Band
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

The wall-breaker ever. Arcanine is pretty straightforward to use here: Use one of many pivots to get it in on a switch and blow up the opposing team. Between Head Smash and Flare Blitz most of the tier gets 2hko, and extreme speed priority with band is always nice to have (has like a 90 percent chance of ohko-ing Mega Beedrill which is nice too).

Empoleon @ Leftovers
Ability: Competitive
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD

Having a dedicated spa and atk wall on teams like this is always nice and SpD Empoleon is extremely hard to break now that its been blessed with roost. Competive gives it some offensive utility too, it acts as a great defog punisher and knock keeps momentum on your end. I sometimes ran it with Ice Beam for Hydreigon, and now that Mega-Alt is being tested its a great tool to punish that too. As for Pecharunt, it realistically can't hit this thing, and parting shot sets are only discouraged with the threat of a boosted Emp Surf. I've also seen seismetoad as a big issue, as Emp is completely countered by it. Running Hidden Power Grass in that slot could be an interesting adaptation to it.

When I build I try to stick closely to the type cores. Usually leads to much stronger teams in the end, Bulu completed two while helping to make the teams offenses alot scarier. +2 Rockium breaks through everything close combat and hornleech can't, while grassy surge fixes the teams overall earthquake weakness. Nothing special here just really solid utility for an offensive threat.

Cofagrigus @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Mummy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Pain Split
- Hex / Night Shade

The final member of the team. I still needed a defensive wall and a spin blocker, and couldn't find anything like that on the VR. Which (after alot of testing) is why I'm nominating Cofagrigus to atleast be listed as an option. (Like why does froslass get a spot but not this guy) Anyway Cof serves two purposes in any given game: Cripple Offensive threats with wisp (Mega Bee, Mega Aggron, Mienshao, Scizor*, TTar*, etc.) and spinblock. Now like I said before I really do think that the only relevant spinners in the tier are starmie, cyclizar, and donphan. All of whom do not appreciate a cofagrigus switch. Cyc and Don will look to knock its item, colbur keeps that from being an issue and allows them both to be statused. Don gets wisped and Cyclizar has regenerator taken away from it dealing with its longevity, while instead Starmie has to deal with a super effective hex or night shade and is threatened to switch out. Low hp actively helps it as most bulky mons don't want to be pain split on any given switch, something like a blissey is taken down to 60 while you recover back up to 100. T-Spikes rip through unprepared teams and just add more hazard pressure overall. If I had to place it on the VR it would probably be C, but as a niche option I think it works well. *Scizor was banned and TTar is sort of a stretch but I still think this mon can beat it. Can't switch into it obviously but as a lure for any would be pursuit tars it works really well. In that situation the game is more about preserving your colbur for the right time to burn the ttar than allowing it to get knocked.

Anyway thats the team, if samples are ever updated consider this a submission for them too! The gameplan of laying out hazards and switching to whatever relevant counter is pretty simple and definatley helped me learn the tier!

Now that drops have made most of what I had outdated, I’ll post this team I found interesting and I had nice success with in various tours.

I wanted to make a team that valued Cresselia’s strength as a Calm Mind sweeper with its massive bulk and I found that the best way to make it a reliable strategy was pairing it with some suicide options. Energy Ball is chosen over Moonblast to drop Swampert before it can get a Toxic on me, EVs to still be faster than Adamant Crawdaunt as Energy Ball will plow it down anyway.

Scarf Final Gambit Staraptor can pretty much remove any one Pokémon from the game, I opted for Intimidate over Reckless for when that does not happen as it can facilitate giving a turn to Zydog to get a DD up and win. Return over Double-Edge to revenge kill something without losing important HP for Final Gambit. No Flying STAB because honestly, it’s either Brave Bird or nothing.

Still, despite being fast this Staraptor set doesn’t particularly hit hard because of its lack of Attack investment and low power STABs. For this very reason there’s another fast and hard hitting option in Sharpedo-Mega who has Speed Boost prior to mega evolving.

Sharpedo can often be good in endgames but the fact it has only space for its STABs leaves it walled at times, which is why I opted for Destiny Bond to remove another Pokémon from the game and get closer to a win with my setup mons.

Tinkaton is amazing here due to its ability to get up rocks and give me an easier time vs bulky setup from Suicune (EV’d to be faster than it), Reuniclus and other threats alike. Pickpocket + Balloon allows me to steal an opposing mon’s item, this can be surprisingly useful as Mienshao and especially Flygon’s U-turn usually end up being clicked and giving me a free new item.

Zygarde-10% is really hard to setup even with the tools this team has, but when you get it going there’s no way to stop it. Dragonium Z Outrage hits the few things that can take Thousand Arrows extremely hard and Iron Tail rounds up the coverage by smashing Ninetales-Alola. Faster than Mienshao with some bulk investment to hopefully live some moves.

My last mon is Thundurus, I know this set sucks, it’s a necessary evil because hazard removal is needed and Prankster T-Wave is too good to pass up on. So I’m left with Ice + Electric, which hits like a wet noodle with my EV allocation but this team requires something to stop Scarf Mienshao and other fast threats whose items cannot always be stolen. Defensive investment required to live Triple Axel from Mienshao.

This time it was less me experimenting with new sets and more experimenting with lesser used mons like Scolipede, Cresselia, etc. Don't have much to say on this one tech wise because I got less invested as the tour went on.

My building methods are very prep-heavy a lot of the time due to the way I play tours but they should be fine into most of the standard structures in this tier. Some of them are not exactly easy to pilot either so just be aware of that going in. Also pretty funny how I got away with not loading a single Mienshao lol, building quirk I guess.

RU Team Dump

I am a bit late to the party, but here are the teams I used during the RU seasonal tour. Just a reminder, I have a sister post for my UU teams, so feel free to check that out if you haven't already. NGL, I was hoping to coast the seasonal with just the samples but the competition did get a bit steeper early on so I had to build teams myself. As for MSPL, RU was an awkward tier for me strategically because UU was where I was most comfortable with and NU was the tier that my opponents were the least comfortable with - so I ended up either winning the set before playing RU or losing because I didn't prepare solidly for RU. Nevertheless, I did test most of these teams with Kinzo and Runo, and I feel confident about most of them (except for that one week 1 MSPL team that auto-lost to Volcanion).

National Dex RU is a tad underexplored but I did see a lot of cool compositions during the seasonal, MSPL, and with my games vs Kinzo. Latias and Tyranitar are shaping up to be alright metagame presences at the moment. However, the magical thing about this tier is that my statement could age miserably 2-3 months from now. My only issue with RU rn is that you have to do this little teambuilding dance to account for Pecharunt, Tyranitar, Latias, and LO Mienshao and still play out a scary game (especially vs LO Shao and Z-Pecha). TR being broken is a hype train.

I was really afraid of toxic this week, I thought seismitoad had picked up enough popularity that any setup sweeper I used should be able to counter it. Once I found out z refresh fully heals you once it seemed like a cool adaptation for calm mind lati. Lati basically just wins as soon as ttar/slither is dealt with.

Hazard stack play styles are really hurt by ttar in my opinion and of the ghost types we do have basc can make it slightly scarier for it. Adaptibility + specs can brute force pretty much anything as long as you get hazards up.

This team is okay? I would modify it heavily, but I think the core idea of Goodra + wishpasser can just hardstop every nonboosting special mon in the tier. Something to look at, I think goodra was heavily underepresented in the seasonal.

Ever seen Danbear has shown the ways of Dhelmise, I felt enlightened. Houndoom and Dhelmise are amazing partners. Dhelmise switches into the fighting, water, and Ground types that Houndoom is scared of, while also removing stealth rocks that Houndoom hates. In return Houndoom gets rid of the ghosts that troubles Dhelmise. Slither and Zygarde does slither and zygarde things, breaking and just being hard to switch into. Tinkaton is a great hazard setter while also spreading T-waves. Muk is the team speacial wall and another dark that not weak to dark. Muk also gets rid of ghost types while being a better dark switch in.

I got inspired from the salazzle usage from NDPL, so I decided to take a crack at it. I think salazzle is quite under underexplored mon. With the the uptick of Aggron and Steelix, salazzle can be potent threat to Aggron and steelix cores. Salazzle OHKO Stealix and aggron while also threating to OKHO Slowking at +2 with acid downpour.
+2 252 SpA Salazzle Acid Downpour (175 BP) vs. 248 HP / 208+ SpD Slowking: 357-421 (90.8 - 107.1%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
+2 252 SpA Salazzle Acid Downpour (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Slowking: 471-555 (119.5 - 140.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Slither and Mandibuzz switches into the ground types that threaten Salazzle. Salazzle can bait in psychic types and and special walls like cyclizar which slither prey on. Basculegion gets rid of grounds and psychic that can bug salazzle, all while being great speed control. Cyclizar an amazing partner for Salazzle because it does great job of removing hazard that can cripple Salazzle while switching into things that salazzle does with want to deal with. Aggron is a great hazard setter while being fat and hard to remove. I hope to see more experimentations with the lower tiers mon because there a lot of potential, we saw Palossand, Salazzle, Rhyperior, etc used in some success. The skys the limit with teambuilder in this tier, when you use the right support. (looking at you NDFL)

Typhlosion is potent set up sweaper due to Ghost and Fire stab being really hard to switch into. Typhlosion and Okidogi are great partner, Typhlosion gets rid of the psychic that threaten Okidogi and Okidogi can switch into and get rid of dark types that scare Typhlosion. In addition okidogi can poison targets with toxic chain ability, boosting Infernal parade's power. Zarude can switch into ground and dark type while also being speed control. Specs Latias can break huge holes in the opponents team, which Okidogi and Typhlosion can expliot. Latias can bait in dark types that Okidogi can preys on. Gligar is your electric immunity and defogger and Tinkaton is your hazards setter while also spreading staus which Typhlosion like.

Post-NDRU Open & Pre-NDPL Team Dump
Since the NDRU Money Tour earlier this year, I've taken much interest in this tier. Although RU won't achieve the same levels of play as UU, I really enjoy the meta and I'm excited for the upcoming NDPL, as well as the potential for it to receive Spotlight Ladder although unlikely. Here's all the teams I used in the RU Open, even though some were definitely fishy or inconsistent.

Tier Shifts Since Last Year
Rises to UU
:amoonguss: Moved up to UU, which is unfortunate as it checked prominent pokemon like Okidogi, Slither Wing, and Maggron. Was healthy for the metagame, and will be missed by many.

:blissey::Slowbro-galar::Slowbro-mega: BIG rise, Stall and semi-stall losing two guys in one month.... yea stalls dead. Blissey rising makes Polteageist and HO more toxic and gives Basc-F more of a chance to click buttons, but overall I don't miss BlissAgg cores and glowbro cheese.

:Zygarde-10%: This and glowbro moved up pretty much from a single guy spamming them on the UU ladder... Zyggy was very strong against unprepared teams, but I think it was just hard to build around and most people are glad it's gone.


Drops to RU

:deoxys-defense: Freed late last year but provided little impact on the metagame, as it is mostly outclassed in roles besides a fat spiker.

:skeledirge: I think this mon is very nice to check Slither Wing as well as setup mons like Cobalion and Thundurus with unaware, though still underutilized in my opinion.

:talonflame: Similar profile to skeledirge, less bulky but more immediately punishes Slither Wing and Cobalion and has the speed to pivot out when necessary. I like him.

:archaludon: Since it was brought down to RU, this skyscraper has been wreaking havoc, and should be the first on the chopping block. Its unmatched type coverage, insane bulk for the tier alongside stamina, set and item variety, along with its ability to make rain actually relevant make me feel awkward about its presence.

:banette-mega: :golisopod: :Regieleki: :Grafaiai: :Grimmsnarl: Little to no impact on the metagame, with Banette and Golisopod have the biggest chances of making a niche.

Since the removal of some fat guys the tier has been bigger on HO, but overall I feel like there's a lot to work with in the tier, and many mons are underexplored. IMO some tiering action should happen before bigger tours if possible, either on dogi, arch, or polteageist.

I wasn't sure whether or not to make this post, but I saw Sealoo do one for UU, and I feel like it would be nice to get some more teams out to the public and keep the bazaar alive. Peace Y'all!

Post-NDRU Open and Grand Slam Dump
I have had a lot of fun building and playing this meta over the past few months, and am just gonna drop some things I've been building / used across open and slam! Everything legal is a sample submission, but especially recommend both teams I loaded in Slam Poffs and the Z Dogi team.

NDRU Open

Got a bye but was planning on bringing these 3

Quarterfinals - Fixzation:
Mono player, had little to go off so loaded some...anti cheese....cheese!

:sandy shocks: :thundurus: :iron jugulis: :mimikyu: :lucario: :sharpedo-mega: Read through some messages in ndru cord and it seemed to be that most teams out vs HO atp is just to click First Impression, which led to the idea of running tect on jug as a 4th, built this one with flames.

Semifnals - Big Chungus IRL
After a very late extension, some scheduling mishaps and me clicking protect and against a shifu, it was time for some good ol ru! what could go wrong amiright guys...

:okidogi: :primarina: :weezing-galar: :gligar: :aggron-mega: :krookodile:hidin asked to check my teams out for semis, and then passed it to runo and seth who edited my band dogi team, and it came out well, unfortunate the game ended how it did

I have more teams asw, but not sharing everything, just the stuff I loaded or was gonna load

Had a lot of fun building this tier over the past couple of months, ty hidin Runo seth for helping with slam semis, its a shame the game panned out how it did (even if i did miss a guaranteed winpath) Ty dewfew for glazing me randomly and trusting in my builds (and ig nongyboii5000 Kuhrrohsion boppy and FayaWizard asw..). And a v big s/o to Flames Of Elixir who helped a fuckton in prep and I wouldn't have made it anywhere as near as far as I did without your help
