Pokémon Presents - Pokémon Day 2025 - Pokemon ZA Info & Pokemon Champions Announced

I’d be ticked if I found a Shiny like that and wasn’t allowed to keep it. Not like it matters with the transferring restrictions anyway. That feels like a dumb thing to be told “Hey, you’re not allowed to tell people about this”- maybe they’re trying to leave it up to suspense or something, “buy the game and you’ll see!” kind of thing, but, like… no? If I were in charge I would just come out and say whether or not the sparkling effect is back. This is such a stupid thing for them to try and keep a secret.

The exact statement Serebii’s site is “Alas, I was unable to find a Shiny Pokémon in it but have a third-hand account of it. Unfortunately I can’t confirm first hand if there are sparkles or sound but word is that we may be very happy.”

That reads to me more as him being unable to say due to a lack of verified information (and thus not wanting to make a claim in full confidence) rather than because of TPC mandate.

These brats. They’re really going to try and win me over with Ranger-style field moves like I’m some important member of the community, aren’t they? Let’s be honest, that’s basically what this is. And I’m all for it. My bias might be showing but this is how field moves were meant to be implemented. You know, come to think of it, someone on the Legends development team for Game Freak must really like those games because Legends Arceus also took a lot of cues from Ranger… huh.

(We got cross-dressing in Pokémon before GTA 6)

My favorite part about this isn’t even the customization. My favorite part is watching older people crash out over non-conforming gender politics in video games designed for children. Like, bro, do you not have better things to focus on? I can personally guarantee you at least one person online is going to complain about this. I will not be that person- in fact, I’d argue this is only a good thing no matter what you believe in because the disparity between boys clothes and girls clothes in X & Y was frankly absurd. I almost always play as the male protagonist and even at the ripe age of 11 years old I thought this was a problem.
I can kinda see where they are coming from, it doesn't hurt me but from their perspective this seems like brainwashing children at a young age, or making parents have to do a little extra to keep their political ideals in tact. “But Pokémon said I could wear a dress” just opens a can of worms. It’s nice to see change implemented but I can see how others feel it’s invasive.

I can see where they’re coming from too, it’s just that “where they’re coming from” is a paranoid and irrational fear and disdain of any ideas or ways of life that exist outside of their own insular delusions, coupled with a complete and total ignorance as to how the world actually works, so their crash-outs over being confronted with these realities remain that ever-odd mix of amusing and tiresome. :psygrump:

There seems to be a lot to the battle system and different effects for different kinds of moves. In the new preview aqua jet brings Totodile up close to the opponent so it can use bite. In an earlier vid Volt Switch moves Manectric back to the player.

I really wonder what the meta for the online battle will be like or if there will be much advanced play. Speed will probably be important.

I mean, not really? Pokémon doesn't really let either gender have long hair. SV already allowed either gender to use any hairstyle.
there are literally long hairstyle customization options shown in trailers already, granted all the ones they showed are very girly so I'm probably shit out of luck anyway. hopefully they let me have something resembling AZ's hair

Wokemon is back thanks to Smogon banning Sleep, very nice

Also, according to The Verge, trainer customization doesn't have any gender restrictions, including skirts and dresses!

YES. This is what it should have been all along, but I will take it. A character who can update their gender presentation over the course of a game is now a reasonable possibility.

The thing is, I think those people are actively harming their children by keeping them isolated and controlled, and I care more about their kids having freedom than I do about the parents' regressive ideas.

We now know the Clefable line to be in the game. What's interesting is this is the very first Pokemon we've seen so far that wasn't in the XY dex.

This could mean nothing, LA had a handful of unaltered additions like Spheal, but it's odd here given how massive the og Kalos dex was and how many Fairies it had for obvious reasons. Why would they feel the need to deviate, unless...

They're doing exactly what you're thinking...

Introducing Red Clefairy as a counterpart to Ash Greninja

Ah, yes, I too remember the first time I sent out my Togekiss against Giovanni’s Mega Mewtwo Y and used Air Slash and Dazzling Gleam to deal STAB super effective damage and KO it because my Mismagius’s Ghost-Type moves only did STAB neutral damage.

I can't believe they are taking the Pokemon website down for 4 hours to fix this error. Thank you bdt2002

just so everyone is aware, about a week from now we enter the danger zone of full on leaks and datamines of copies out in the wild.

legends arceus copies leaked 10 days before release
scarlet/violet copies leaked 12 days before release

Every mainline game since Sun & Moon has been spoiled for me because of YouTube video thumbnails and other social media. It’s not just Pokémon, either. The sad part is I don’t know if I care enough to try and stop myself from seeing these leaks anymore. Pokémon was never the greatest series ever when it came to story writing, and I could care less about the new Megas or anything else that may be spoiled for the masses. I also believe Game Freak to have always been horribly ineffective at combating these leaks to the point where I’m convinced they’re either A. using the leaks as free advertising, or B. genuinely do not care if their stuff gets leaked early so long as people spend money on their stuff.

With Sun & Moon I remember thinking that the game didn’t feel like traditional Pokémon and I even remember saying I thought the second Lusamine fight was a fake leak. Safe to say that aged poorly, but to my surprise when I did pick the game up it ended up becoming one of my favorites. Sword & Shield… exists, those games are so bad I still would have gotten bored even without spoilers, and Legends: Arceus and Scarlet & Violet were better but have only gone down in my rankings over the past two years. I don’t expect anything in this game that gets spoiled for me to change my mind on the final product, especially when we already know the game is “unfinished” on account of that DLC announcement (notice the air quotes).

Honestly, I think that the datamines are ultimately a good thing. With how much there's a focus on people buying stuff as soon as it comes out, it's useful for there to be a complete picture of what's going on before then.
I agree that they are but it probably sucks for the people who are very against spoilers.

most of the leaks are done in ways they can't really stop, like most of the leaked info we know about Legends ZA is from the massive teraleak which was info directly stolen from their servers. don't think it's fair to blame a company for this happening to them, they also aren't the only company to have gone thru something like this recently either. also afaik, this idea that companies leak stuff early to promote it as free advertising is incredibly rare and doesn't really make sense as they can't frame any of the content, they can't sell you on it, completely devoid of proper context.

most of the time things leak is the 2ish weeks before a game releases because some retailer or shipping service is lax and sends people copies before they are supposed to, or someone at a retailer that received the copy early in order to make sure they have stock decides to break the law. there's not much they can really do about this outside of like fully switching over to digital copies and ditching physical ones.

If that’s the case, I say we go all digital. I used to be on the side of preserving physical media, and for some items I still am. You’re never going to see me put even a dollar towards streaming for TV and movies, for instance. This is my one exception. My main priority above all else as a gaming fan is that games are accessible, and I feel like that and “preserved” don’t quite mean what they used to. People think that keeping physical media around will make older games more accessible but the truth of the matter is, these are objects that age over time regardless of if you “own it” or not. The rise of scalper culture and retailer failures is what ultimately changed my opinion on Physical Vs. Digital. It’s not a perfect solution to lock everything behind subscription services by any means, but it’s unfortunately the most realistic of two evils.

There is absolutely no universe where I will care about spoilers 1-2 weeks before release enough that we go to an all digital future.

And even if we did go that route there's still always an avenue for leaks. People who got to play test builds, journalists who dont care about opsec, outright theft...it wont happen to every series but the bigger it is the easier it is and more likely, especially if it's beloved.

Serebii was given the opportunity to play PLZA at the Paris event TPCi held;

- Multiple opponents can once again be taken on in battle, but from the clip it seems that whilst Serebii was commanding his Pokemon against one Houndour, the other Houndour was actively attacking the character
- You can use "scenery" to help with cover
- Day / Night isn't real time
- He didn't encounter a shiny, but does know someone who did, they weren't able to say if the sparkle noise is back, but they said we would be "very happy"
- He finds that battle are more complex due to the timings and live-nature of it.
- "Plus" moves use the mega gauge and are applicable to all Pokémon, Mega evolved Pokémon will always have plus moves
- Abilities confirmed not in
- Evolution is similar to PLA
- Game runs well on Switch 2 (As this was the edition he played)

EDIT: I watched through the IGN one as well as there is a bit more.. substance to certain aspects.

The game makes use of the verticality well. Switching Pokémon midway in battle has your Pokémon come out on move cooldowns. They encountered "slime" blocking their way that a water type was able to wash away. She found the Mega Victreebell rogue battle much harder than the tutorial Absol (obviously) but she said it was a lot harder than expected, even with help from an NPC

Mega Evolution is NOT exclusive to 1 Pokémon in Rogue battles, you can mega evolve multiple Pokemon at different times as long as the mega power gauge is full and you have the stone. They didn't have the ability to battle against trainers with mega Pokemon yet, so that's not instant.
I was already very excited for the game, but this preview now makes me fully ecstatic. PLA is my 3rd favorite game in the entire series and this game looks to be shoulder-to-shoulder with it in quality at the minimum. The game looks very fun and engaging with a gameplay loop that's different from Arceus but is satisfying in its own unique way. Using megas actually means something now and the new megas have much more compelling designs than most of the gen 6 megas had. I'm not even particularly concerned about the game's setting-I think a lot of people disappointed by that were expecting a completely different game in the first place. It's expanding on several things that were good about PLA while also very much being its own thing and I think that's really cool and very refreshing.

Speaking of leaks, if I really wanted to I could grab the game early since I know a retailer that will break street date by a couple days. But the game comes out officially on Thursday, I have D&D on Tuesdays, and I cannot justify the drive since it it's a county over and I would run up against rush hour traffic.

Honestly, I love stuff leaking pre-release, and I find it grating to see people complain about "spoiling the surprise for everybody" or some inane crap like that. If you cared about my feelings about something as inconsequential as a videogame you wouldn't be preaching against something I enjoy.

Diamond and Pearl came out here TEN MONTHS after their Japanese release, but somebody would make a fuss over knowing about Leafeon before Japanese street release due to datamining. Sanctimonious shills I swear.
