Metagame Pokébilities

Playing this meta again after a while only reminds me of how annoying and 1-dimensional Yanmega is. Yanmega is ALWAYS Throat Spray or Choice Specs, ALWAYS spams Bug Buzz and gets Air Slash flinches, and ALWAYS uses Tera Ground Blast to beat up Clodsire.

Also, Archaludon and Kingambit are nightmares to deal with.

Yanmega has had a pretty disappointing trajectory for sure. I was excited at the prospect of Boots Yanmega, but I can't blame anyone using Throat Spray or Specs because it just doesn't hit hard enough without those items, even with tera and Tinted Lens. The most interesting thing you can really do with it is Psychic Noise. The biggest hindrance against it its awful movepool. Tinted Lens is cool and all, but base 116 special attack just isn't enough to make neutral hits work consistently, and its only coverage options are Ancient Power, which is only 60 BP and 5 PP (which is weaker than a stab Bug Buzz even against 2x rock weak targets), Psychic, which has one of the worst offensive types, only being super effective against poison and fighting, Shadow Ball, which is only super effective against ghost and psychic types, Giga Drain, which has several resists and is only base 75 power, and Tera Blast, which forces you to use one of your most valuable resources. The loss of Hidden Power really screws up Yanmega more than most special attackers.

The problem is not power, its counterplay. Once Yanmega gets a free switch via switching in after a KO or god forbid a U-turn, you are forced to hard commit to taking out the Yanmega, else it boost its speed to the point of no return. Admittingly, it is not the best into offensive teams because they can afford to eat a big hit or even sack one of their defensive pieces to it, then bring out something to revenge kill it, while stall has blissey which stuffs it.

The issue is that every other team style cannot pressure it hard enough to deny it. Balance teams and other slower pace archetypes allows Yanmega free entry by nature of having more passive, bulky walls. Yanmega hurts teambuilding so much because you are forced to run quad resists on every balance team just to deal with Bug Buzz. And guess what, Air Slash and Tera exist to your would-be wall is one flinch away from folding over like a pancake. Combined with the million other metagame threats like Kingambit, Archaludon, Chien-Pao, Urshifu-Rapid, Raging Bolt, Zamazenta, Iron Valiant, and Tera,Yanmega forcing specific counterplay crushes archetype diversity.

Now, me personally, I would ban all of the aforementioned (except I-val and Raging Bolt, they're cool) because I would love to see a metagame where as many archetypes are viable, but that's just me. Mons like Chien-Pao, Urshifu, and Zama are so overtuned and kinda defeat the point of Pokebilities, no (since they have only one ability)?

Chien-Pao is banned, thankfully. As for other Ubers mons like Volcarona, Urshi Rapid, Arch, and Gouge, I do think that they should be banned as well. However, I heavily disagree with the argument that they defeat the point of pokebilities. Pokebilities is such an interesting metagame because instead of completely overhauling OU, it takes the strong basis of the meta and applies its own changes that give it an identity that is unique without being entirely unfamiliar. The metagame is far from perfect, hell, I mentioned earlier that I believe all mons banned from base OU should also be banned from pokebilities as well, but I also believe that other pokemon such as Clefable, Kingambit, and debatably even Ursaring and Kingdra should be banned. There's still work to do for sure, but metagames with minimal playerbase outside of OMotM rarely are able to get updated, unfortunately

Base 116 special attack with Specs or Throat Spray and Terastalization is enough to outright OHKO or 2HKO many Pokemon and nearly 2HKO any specially defensive wall that isn't Blissey.

252+ SpA Tera Ground Yanmega Tera Blast (80 BP) vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Clodsire: 192-228 (41.4 - 49.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252+ SpA Yanmega Bug Buzz vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Assault Vest Reuniclus: 162-192 (38.2 - 45.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO (Reuniclus does nothing back)
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tinted Lens Tera Bug Yanmega Bug Buzz vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Zapdos: 328-386 (102.1 - 120.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tinted Lens Yanmega Bug Buzz vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Corviknight: 126-150 (31.5 - 37.5%) -- 88.4% chance to 3HKO (on a 4x resisted Pokemon???)
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tinted Lens Yanmega Bug Buzz vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Toxapex: 126-150 (41.5 - 49.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Don't even get me started on the flinchaxxing with Air Slash.
I want Yanmega banned.

There’s a move that I noticed it has that just makes it even harder to stop, that being Psychic noise
Well now u are not healing infront of this, you don’t need Tera Ground Tera Blast and can go all in on the power of Tera Bug, I play HO it wasn’t that bad but I suspect every other team style is probably having trouble with it

This thing has loong been ultra finnicky, idk if the devs are willing to put the ton of effort into diagnosing whatever strange conflict condition messes up geezing's ability activation and deactivation effects lol. (also those aren't replays and are no longer viewable)

Guys, I being destroy by snow team because Snow cloak is allow.

Araquanid+custap berry to kill Sandslash-Alola unfortunately Sandslash-Alola dodge my liquidation. Snow Cloak to be restricted
There isn't a "restriction"/soft ability ban option, we'd just have to ban the mon outright; none of the veil/cloak mons have been busted enough on their own to warrant this yet

Is there a way to restrict the evasion abilities? I just lost a game because Alolan Dugtrio caused my Corviknight to miss a Body Press. (yes Weezing-Galar also missed Will-O-Wisp, but that is excusable)

Also, my Chesnaught missed Knocking Off Gliscor turn 1. That is potentially game-changing.

As far as I’m aware there’s no option to restrict or soft ban the evasion abilities, so they would have to just ban all the mons outright
I agree tho, they are terrible, there’s a reason we have an evasion clause in every other metagame but we kinda have to deal with it here
