Project SS Ubers UU Teambuilding Competition

This week we have Moltres! This fiery (chicken) bird has been making waves in the tier with it's fantastic defensive set, making use of its solid bulk, Ground immunity, Steel resist, fighting resist and flame body to switch into the plenty of Close Combats, Double Iron Bashes and Earthquakes in the tier. It further combines that with a fantastic offensive STAB combination and a powerful STAB Hurricane that prevents the many Dragons from switching into it for free. It can choose to run either Will-O-Wisp or Toxic to ruin its few checks or even use Scorching Sands to dispatch off Heatran itself. Which way would you choose with it? Would it be an offensive flavour or a standard defensive set?

Submission Requirements:

-Must be a legal team in SS Ubers UU
-Must Include 2 replays that show the team

Deadline for the submissions is Sunday June 29th, 11:59 pm -4 and voting will begin later.

Hello ya'll, Ive come to make the first post of the extension. Now, Moltres sets are pretty standard, and while i tried to change the mold, I'm not built to break the mold that much. So instead I built around one of Moltres's traits that I really like, its ability to be an incredible pivot.

KyuUrsh Balance
:kyurem-white: :urshifu: :clefable: :moltres: :solgaleo: :chansey:

Kyurem-White and Urshifu are meant to be the main center of damage for this team. However, as you will come to see, the true power of this team comes from Life Orb Solgaleo. Clefable, Moltres, and Chansey make up the defensive core of the team. The pivoting core of Clef and Molt can being in the powerful threats consistently and safely, while also providing utility in the form of Wishpassing and Defog respectively. Chansey is tasked with handling the rest of the threats in the format, with its massive special bulk and HP. Neither Kyurem-White or Urshifu were really used in these replays, but they were made to be the main damage core of this team. Kyurem-White with subroost gives it longevity and the ability to punish pivoting around it, where Scarf Urshifu provides powerful speed control for the team. Solgaleo, oh Solgaleo, a wholly unoptimized mixed set that still put in so much work. While the suprise mixed set definitly helped, Solgaleo has a good speed tier to make light work of some of the tier staples. That along with its Rock resistence gives it extra longevity which helps it get away with Life Orb, that along with the ever reliable Morning Sun. Okay okay, this isn't Solgaleo's week. Anyways, time to include the replays and a defense of my Moltres set (cause apperently its "too passive" and "objectively bad")

Versus Lyra Sand This both showcases the weaknesses and strengths of Moltres, while trading in Toxic and (more importantly )Fire STAB for Hazard Control and Ground coverage technically made me more passive and reliant on Burn odds, I was able to more effectively preassure Heatran and still keep the preassure high for Excadrill.

Versus Neimad BO? This showcases primarily Moltres's ability to pivot in and out of a game, but moreso the whole defensive core. Able to keep the opposing offensive monsters in check. (It also shows Neimads mistake of letting Tar go down but shh.

Moltres @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpA
Bold Nature
- Roost
- Defog
- Scorching Sands
- U-turn

I still hear Lyra's voice ringing through my ear, "There is no glory for shitty moltres sets." Ah, well, I think this Moltres set is able to accomplish what this team needs. It can deal with Steel attackers with would otherwise give the team way more trouble than it currently does, between Clef and Kyuw, I felt that Scorching Sands helped to deal with Heatran, which was a very big deal to me. Either way, the team itself is not perfect, it could definitley be Evd better overall, and maybe iron out some picks. However, in its current state, I think this Molt works just fine.

Well, if you actually read all that, thank you! If you didn't I completely understand. Either way, thank you!

Week 4 Pokemon of choice is Dialga!! Dialga is a powerful pokemon that can change its set based on what your team needs. It can be a powerful early to mid game hazard setter, and sweeper on bulky or hyperoffense teams, a trick room setter, or even a Choiced Attacker. Whatever you want to build around!

No idea if this is still going on but figured i'd share a team I made that i finally got replay 2 on a few days ago!

VS H-Stack Semi Room - https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen8ubers-2493787645

The goal of this team is to find the right blend of offense and defense to really put a ton of pressure on any team to get maximum value from hazards! It features a few things I think hold a lot of value in the meta so I'm excited to share it.

:dialga:
Dialga is here to be a general stop-gap that can sit on some defensive mons like Mandibuzz while also being able to take many hits from a plethora of special threats such as Naganadel, NDW, and Reshiram. While it may not be the easiest to maintain long term, often times it will be able to stick around just long enough to do what is needed, especially with the defensive support this team provides to manage fightings.

:clefable:
I wanted this to be magic guard, but with how Urshi/Zama weak this team would be without unaware I felt I ultumately couldn't risk it. Clef as the only knocker may seem strange, but realistically it will be most likely to secure knocks on the crucial defensive threats that you really need it for. Mons like NDW, opposing Clef (you beat magic guard fine with this team), Heatran, are all excellent targets a Clef should reasonably expect to hit with knock in a game. CM allows it to be a longer term threat with how much this team is able to threated the steel types in the tier, and can also punish attempts to defensively sit on it.

:giratina:
This set is stolen from some BW ubers stuff I've watched, but felt that It would be the best anti-status tool I had on this team as well as an excellent progress maker by draining PP and providing consistent phaisng while being able to pressure both clefable and magearna due to the special defense investment, and long term spdef drop potential with Shadow Ball (ignore that it was hex in the first game, naga used to be tspikes). Gira can naturally check a lot of offense in the tier, such as physical Genesect, most Zamas, Hawlucha, Regieleki, etc! It's probably what makes this team click.

:naganadel:
Speed control was always going to be an issue with how slow a lot of the team naturally needed to be, and scarf Naga was excellent role compression in its ability to do so while also being a potent spiker with the switches it forces. While some people may find they want a fire move on this set, I think the other tools on this team allow the lack of it to be okay.

:slowbro:
Does a lot of heavy lifting into TR, while also being a very effective slow pivot. The value of future sight on a team with both Clef and Zama to punish the more common switch ins cannot be denied, and the helmet chip punishing U-Turn means that even outside of Melmetal MUs slowbro will be able to get a lot of mileage in any matchup.

:zamazenta:
Finally, Zama. I'm probably in the minority when I say I like this more then Urshifu, but I think its speed is something that ultimately I find more valuable on more playstyles. Shifu has its place, but definately not here. This set can definately tweak its coverage, but what I went with should still be good into most teams.

Hope you all enjoyed the read! This is a fun meta, and I can't wait for the next solo tour so I can cook extra hard :3

Aero HO (ft. Dialga)

Uh, don't look at the Spect set, or honestly the Kyub set. This team needs a lot of work (that I will be giving it), but for right now, it showcases what I need it to.

Focusing entirely on Dialga and Garchomp, they both succeed with Scale Shot + Atk Setup moves spectaculary. Dialga really benefited from Steel, Dragon, and Ground coverage to hit most of the relevent meta, but Garchomp has a lot of variety (where I settled on Stone Edge). Spect and Kyub are the weak links that need a lot of work and could be replaced with mons better fitting this team. Lugia does fine, although a bulky CM mon also wasn't the perfect choice. Aero is the perfect HO lead, and also helps keep Hazards off early, it is a great mon that should see more usage.

Conclusion: Garchomp good; Dialga good

Yeah I'm great with time, today is Novermber 23rd right? Anyways, it's at least Sunday.

Voting is starting! I'll try and close it out at some point during the week, or when there's a good amount of votes. No rank choice voting! There's only 2 of us.

As per usual, I will be voting for Celeste's team. Not just because I am a good sport, but because it is better than mine.
