OU DPP OU Teambuilding Competition

I was expecting something more exciting, seeing as the proposal was interesting. Well, there's still time.

My team is a bit unusual, as there are many offensive options based on defensive Dragonite. After trying out several ideas and styles, I decided on a team with Roserade, which I quite like. Basically, it's her offensive set, with just enough speed to outrun things like Jolly Breloom (no scarf) and Milotic(max speed lmao). At first, I had Heatran as the lead, but I think Roserade works better, considering most of them. HP Ice for threats like Dragonite, since with DD it would be a problem to eliminate it. If you keep FSash, there's nothing to fear. Heatran with 48 EVs in attack can eliminate defensive versions of Latias, especially if there are rocks, which are helpful. Anyway, it's the one I'm least convinced about on the team, but I don't know if another set would fit better. Besides, Latias itself is the reason I added Metagross scarf with Pursuit. It's true that maybe the easy thing to do was to put Scizor in, but I like it this way. I don't know if Lum is better than Chesto Berry on Kingdra. What is certain is that at least you don't get paralyzed for 3 turns in a row (it's happened to me, and I was at +2). I haven't managed to support it with the other dragon on the team with HBell yet (it's not that easy to execute, but it's a good idea). By the way, those defense EVs are for Flygon Scarf's Outrage and to eliminate it from, precisely, Outrage. And finally, Gengar's offensive set, which doesn't need much explanation. It makes good use of Rose's TSpikes and covers itself with sub.

hazards stack with weird stuff such as tormentran to force switches and crocune to have a better mu into defensive structures since i couldnt fit a breaker. quag clef teams are still hard to beat but def doable you just need some time.
Dragonite fits good there because of its typing and heal bell feels really good to deal with tspikes and status spam in general.
Im playing phys def dnite because i already have leftovers tran to check physical jirachi and my team is physdef polarized, switching one between rotom, skarmory and donphan to sdef might be a decent option

Bulky Dragonite has a few strengths over Latias, one of them being that you can also run Bulky Latias.

I know the brief was no DD, but I've always liked DD Heal Bell as a nice supportive role that can sweep stall.

I don't think the set needs much speed. 16 speed puts it at 200, outspeeding Rotom after 1 DD, all non-scarfers after 2 DDs and honestly the main reason I like it is because I can do the maths in my head. 48 defence let's you live a Jolly Flygon Outrage and the rest in Sp.Def.

Magneton support is needed for Skarm, I know you can last mon it, but that never works out for me.

Toxic Bronzong patches the Ground weakness and Copycat Clef is a surprising rapid spinner and patches the CM Clef weakness.

Voting has begun for the teambuilding competition featuring Defensive Dragonite! This round is contested by a solid six entries aiming for the top spot. The teams submitted were:

Who built the best team? The deadline for voting is next Saturday (13/12/2025), 11:00 pm GMT.

Once voting concludes and the winner is announced, they will choose the theme for the next competition.

A bit tricky for me to decide between Lady Bug & George, both have plenty of sauce & I do respect the Registeel pick. But I'd go with George's team, though I'd give Bronzong Payback & make it Sassy; even give Clef Wish imo.

George182's team.

The votes are in! The winner for the Defensive Dragonite teambuilding competition, with three times the number of votes as the next runners up, and a total of six votes, was George182! Congratulations!

Since it is an even numbered competition, the next theme can be any Pokémon or theme with no restrictions, and will be chosen by George182 as a reward for winning the last competition. If they don’t want to choose, or don’t choose by 16/12/25, then I’ll post a theme by 17/12/25 (GMT).
Once it's announced you win the competition, comment your choice in a new post with the new theme at the top of the message.

There are some rules as to what you are able to pick.
- For every odd teambuilding competition, you can pick any Pokémon from the top 30 of the VR (link).
- For every even teambuilding competition, you can pick anything you want with no restrictions.

These rules are in place to ensure that we don’t get too many difficult mons to build with in a row, which has caused inactivity in the past.

You can also choose a set or a theme to build with instead of a Pokémon. E.g., Build with banded tyranitar, or build with water spam. You can choose more difficult themes if you wish, but please exercise discretion.

Once picked, your choice can't be changed, so bear that in mind.

George182 has chosen a new theme! For the next two weeks, the teambuilding competition will be focused around the festive season. Make your best Christmas themed team! It must contain an ice type Pokémon.

As usual, the winner of this competition gets to choose the next theme.

Merry Christmas to you too, Oatmon!

Basically, your Paraspam team here with Mamoswine, but I added in Band to apply further pressure against Skarm just in case. (This team works better with Rhyperior, but this is a Christmas theme)

Don’t worry Mamo, you’ll get your gifts in the later gens lol

Edit: Oh yeah, the roles:

Breloom: Santa's elf
Mamoswine: Santa Claus (St Nicholas)
Vaporeon: Freeze Miser
Latias: Mrs Claus
Zapdos: Rudolph (Light that guides the sleigh)
Heatran: Heat Miser

I’ve been wanting to try out lead Cloyster for a while so I took this comp as the opportunity to do so. When building this team I drew inspo from old builds by Kristyl(:Cloyster::Heatran::Gyarados::Raikou::Metagross::Latias:) and Excal(:Cloyster::Camerupt::Infernape::Rotom-Heat::Scizor::Gyarados:). I’m not convinced that it’s the most solid it could be, but it worked in the handful of games I played and I had fun.
