Maybe Giovanni didn't really take care of him and he's just a stan trying to steal valor lmao
so I'm looking at the teams for this this elemental hyper beam mission and I'm, uh, very curious how to handle this.
Meganium in particular feels in a bad spot; all of them resist both its stabs, Charizard resists Earthquake/Earth Power...only rock option is Ancient Power.
I guess just really good at Protect?
Yeah knowing you can tank the Beams at level 100 with no investment helped a lot, I really did just assume they'd be instakills. Used that same set for MeganiumI think my Meganium moveset was Body Slam, Earthquake, Leaf Blade and Swords Dance, you can tank one Blast Burn at any given time and I used the invincibility from Mega Evolving to avoid the first one entirely, and then just used healing items to not die at any given moment. Blaziken was honestly the biggest threat bc its moveset is pretty fast iirc. Speaking from memory bc I did this a few days ago
Feraligatr was certainly the easiest, I found Emboar most difficult because Swampert was a threat and a half and the only coverage move I had on it was Thunder Punch
Hey now I happened to land a Fire Starter Special Scan right when I wanted to hunt Shalpha Charmander, so I'm somewhat thankful for them.I’d like to wish every Starter and Eeveelution Special Scan a very die
All I to need finish the Dex is Rotom, Latios, Cobalion, Virizion, and Keldeo, so it’s all monotonous Hyperspace Surveys and dice rolls from here on out…![]()
Espeon and Umbreon can't spawn in Area 20, only the other 5 Eeveelutions.Goddammit I forgot to remove a Fairy move from Eevee while evolving it, gotta find an new one to complete the Dex. Earlier today the 2 alphas in Area 20 were BOTH Jolteon, but still no Espeon.
Come the fuck on, make Eevee able to evolve by stone into everything. They already dropped the annoying Rocks and used the perfectly fine stones for Leafeon and Glaceon.
Alrighty caught Rayquaza. Post game done, time for post-post game!
The Kyogre & Ray fights were pretty cool, though their "charge" attacks were pretty rude. Kyogre's origin pulse spinning around nicked me quite a few times, as did Rayquaza's...honestly everything. Jerk's fast on those hyper beams, outrages, all those draco meteors... That said I'm very glad that Rayquaza didn't have a "hey this WILL kill you instantly if you dont see the two specific safe zones btw" attack like Zygarde did.
I caught the primals in Love Balls and Rayquaza in Friend. It's green and a friend : )
Story-wise there's a few quibbles but over all I found the whole thing every enjoyable, and I liked all the character beats and set pieces. Does make me wish the Rogue Battles had more unique areas, though, but oh well.
Gameplay wise I think things improved a lot once you get access to better berries for donuts. The early stuff is so daunting and there's a chunk towards the end where it feels like you jsut dont have the REALLY good berries enough...but on the whole the gameplay loop worked pretty well. I was always finding something to do and there was a steady feeling of progress. It was only towards the end of the 100k that it really felt like a grind. I suspect my tune will change now that I have to do all these special scan roulettes but not my first RNG rodeo I guess.
Still, it's impossible to not feel like the Hyperspace concept was a bit wasted on being purely the city streets. I think I can see the logic, it seemed like they wanted to turn the non-wild zones into effective wild zones. But mannnn you really want some extra environmental variety. Let higher level distortions have some bleed in of nearby wild zones or something at least.
And yeah it's hard not to turn and look at the last 2 DLCs that had full entirely brand new areas for equivalent or jsut a little more. I think I've put in...25-30 hours into the DLC so far? So I'd say I got my money's worth, and I enjoyed my time with it. Butttttt...oh well. Is what it is. Hopefully this is just a one-off occasion, it would be a real shame of Gen 10 did away with exploring whole new areas in the DLC.
There is no way we'll ever see it unless they decide to really roll with the timeline but it'd be so cool to see a grown Ansha with her Rayquaza in a future game.
Also do you think the Lumiosians are just fully whatever about the nonsense going on in their city at this point or was someone looking over at Hotel Z and seeing The Legendary Rayquaza just chilling there for 10 minutes while everyone has the Ansha pep talk and just freaking out.
Putting aside all the Mythics & Legends to hunt down, I still need Sirfetch'd, Porygon-Z, Mudkip (not the rest of its line...just Mudkip), and somehow still Feebas (& Milotic) from the normal zones. Frigibax line & Rotom from the new zones (though I wouldn't mind running into Porygon-Z, instead of trading); will need a Gimmighoul for living dex purposes too. And (sigh) Armarouge. I do not like that the items are so random (& the needed item power, for that matter) and I really don't like that they aren't in the hyperspace zones anywhere.
Friendship isn't actually that hard to raise in ZA, just go to a Cafe with Eevee as your selected Pokémon and buy like 3-4 cheap drinks and it'll have enough friendship to evolve.Oh well, hyperspace it is then.
That's how I evolved Pichu, Riolu and Bunneary in the main game - pretty much the easiest way there's ever been.Friendship isn't actually that hard to raise in ZA, just go to a Cafe with Eevee as your selected Pokémon and buy like 3-4 cheap drinks and it'll have enough friendship to evolve.
I feel like Zarude is a victim of circumstance, whereas Volcanion's poor treatment feels intentional at this point, as if they regret ever including it in the first place.I dunno, I think Zarude still slightly edges it out.
- It has the dubious distinction of being the Covid-era Mythical
- Related to that, its international release was a debacle and a half
- Sure Volcanion doesn’t have a Mega or anything, but at least it doesn’t have an alternate form that’s literally just the same thing but with a small cape bearing another, more popular Pokémon’s Dex number for some reason. Imagine if there were a Volcanion form wearing a scarf printed with “151”
- Seriously, why is Dada form even a thing in the games? In the anime, sure, do whatever you want. Give it a cape to symbolize its individuality/main character status. But given how they tend to contextualize Mythical releases, this specific Zarude from this specific movie being forever attached to base Zarude at the hip is a futureproofing headache
- Exposition-dumped though it may be, Volcanion at least does have a small amount of lore, whereas the sum total of what SwSh had to say about Zarude was “Wow, this thing’s not from around here! Here, have Ash’s movie hat!”
Unless they patched it with the update, with Espeon and Umbreon you might have to advance the day/night cycle to get the evolution option. I waaaaaay overcaffeinated my eevees before I changed the time and was able to evolve them.Friendship isn't actually that hard to raise in ZA, just go to a Cafe with Eevee as your selected Pokémon and buy like 3-4 cheap drinks and it'll have enough friendship to evolve.
When I evolved my Eevees (& other time-based happiness evolutions) back before the DLC I don't recall having to mess with time options to get it to appear.Unless they patched it with the update, with Espeon and Umbreon you might have to advance the day/night cycle to get the evolution option. Well, yes, that one would make sense to be there too but the end of the DLC's story is literallyI think its far more likely we’d see her with Hoopa.
I dunno it always feels so random even with that (in fact I think you NEED the power to even try rolling for them). I did try to use the item powers if I rolled them but felt like I never got anything I needed.Armarouge should be easy, the armors are easily collected with a special item power donut. (Sour donut, also useful for getting more Berries if you roll Berries + Big Haul).

Once the day timer gets down to about a fifth or so, time based evolutions stop working. When I evolved my Eevees (& other time-based happiness evolutions) back before the DLC I don't recall having to mess with time options to get it to appear.

I did that too on my first attempt (tfw the nihil light hits just right oh baby) and then I got wombo-combo'd by meteors. Round 2 I wound up mostly using Mega Gardevoir and by the time Mega Zygarde came out oh no now it's super twister draco meteor and well poor thing isn't THAT bulky, haha.I had a hard time with Kyogre, but Rayquaza was actually really fun for me because at that point I decided there was never gonna be a better opportunity to let Mega Zygarde stretch its legs, and proceeded to blast off huge chunks of Ray’s HP bar with the giant fucking laser cannon![]()
Huh! What an odd mechanic.Once the day timer gets down to about a fifth or so, time based evolutions stop working.

They had time to do something more interesting with it and it seems like they purposely tried to do the opposite at every turn.
