Welcome to the fifth edition of LC World Cup!

The hosts of this tournament are goldmason, Murphy Lawden, and Nuxl.

Feel free to discuss LCWC V here, and don’t hesitate to contact a host for any questions!

Tjenare folks!

Keeping this short and nice. If you are located in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland or Finland, feel free to contact me in smogon or in discord. Team Nordics is always looking for new talents - give a short introduction of yourself and we are good! At the end of the day it doesn't matter if you play LC at all. Our little group plays lot of tiers and we are planning to play other WC's in future.

Our run in this competition for UK has unfortunately come to an end tonight, and although it wasn't how we wanted it to finish, I believe we exceeded a lot of people's expectations by finishing 1st in a tough group and reaching the semifinals, having a really great run in this tour overall.

Being a newcomer in the LC scene, I never realised that a team UK had never happened before, so I was determined to help make that a reality, and I'm so glad it did.

Having said that, although we didn't win, I would like to do my shoutouts as I believe everyone deserves the recognition for the hard work and commitment they put into this tour (2+ months):

HSOWA - Thank you for trusting me and agreeing to let me co-manage UK with you when I saw you put your name down to manage and I reached out to you - I remember you not being sure whether we could create a team but I was confident that we could field a team strong enough to compete in one of the biggest LC team tours in the game.

It was a pleasure managing with you and I hope we get the opportunity to manage more tours in the future.

LB - One of our key players who consistently performed, you had an amazing run and adapted really quickly. You're a solid player overall and although you hadn't mained LC, seeing you compete well in a range of tiers/metas/tours made it an easy choice to have you as a starter - it would be great to see you enter LC team tours in the future, you definitely deserve a spot.

Waldorf - Another player who consistently performed for us in SV, you played extremely solid and although you got unlucky in the semifinal, you should be really proud and I'm grateful for your time in running tests and being available each week.

Baddy - Although you may think you didn't have the best run this year, I really appreciate you slotting in SS where you weren't too keen, as well as this, you're a solid player overall and I'm proud that we had a newly crowned SCL player on our team.

I'm confident that next year will be your time and I hope you are able to join UK again.

Zpice - I hope you don't feel too down about your results this year - I really appreciate the effort you gave in this tour, and I would love to see you feature in team UK again - your enthusiasm and dedication doesn't go unnoticed and you are someone with lots of potential, keep up the grind!

Cow - Thank you for slotting in ORAS/SS, you pulled off some great wins against tough opponents considering you don't regularly play LC - another solid player who everyone should always recommend for a team tour.

TTK - It was great to give you a chance in ORAS, you played really well and it was a close one in the semifinal, you have lots of potential and I would definitely recommend signing up again next year.

naere - Our standout player in this competition who clutched so many winnings weeks for us, to go 7-0 in DPP is no easy feat, and you definitely deserve to finish as one of the best players in this tour - thank you for your effort this year.

@DD Joe - Thank you for stepping in to play, I'm glad you got a chance to feature in this competition.

DKM - I'm sorry that you didn't get enough opportunities to play, unfortunately the SV slots were really competitive but you are a great player and would love to see you sign up again.

paysa Medasus TheDH Onraider PixelBob Mkns1070 Thank you for cheering the team on and hanging around in the server.

I would also like to say a huge thank you to Quinn PoseidonWrath Envy Zcarlett PigWarrior19 Howkings for helping with the prep behind the scenes, we wouldn't have gotten this far without you.

LilyAC - It was a shame that you weren't able to play for us, but I hope we showed that we can compete to win as UK and you have the motivation to play next year.

After a rough run in DPPWC, I'm fortunate I was able to manage in LCWC and I'm hopeful to get the opportunity to manage more team tours in this game going forward.

Good luck in the final tazz bleahey you all showed why you are still unbeaten this tour, and good luck to Canada/Brazil as well!

Finally, I look forward to 2026 and hoping to get a chance to shine in LCBC and LCPL.

Thought I’d might as well make a post about Canada’s run in this tournament similar to the post Incognition made above about UK’s run.

Falling just short out of Finals does suck, and I know all of us wanted to play amazingly just to get there for the 2nd time in a row, but we still did amazing to get to Semis against some very notable teams, and I’m glad how everyone performed regardless of their record.

This also being my first team tour on Smogon was an amazing experience for me, and going positive without a loss in this tournament wasn’t expected from me, hell I didn’t think I would even make it off the bench LOL. I’m glad that I made a run that I can say I’m proud of, but enough about me.

Elfuseon : Gotta start off with the captain. I’m glad that you decided to pick me up as a player for the team, and that I could show you what I could do. I knew you had a pretty haxxy run and felt like you could’ve shown off your LC prowess better, but I was glad to watch your games either way. Will be sad to see you step away from team tours in the undefined future, but I’m happy to be around for one of the final ones.

Agera : My brother in crime during this entire tour. From helping you out with scouts and testing out teams in the beginning of the tour to both being the two SV slots in the later stages of the tour, you were a great teammate to have and I wish you nothing but the best in any future tournaments. Shellder is busted btw.

teamo : A very fun player to both watch battle and teambuild simultaneously. Some of the stuff you came up with made me question your sanity, but it has certainly changed the way I look at teambuilding and made me pop off when whatever you made worked in game. Glad I could also be the “new teamo”, as Quinn would put it.

feen : Although I wasn’t able to see how you built your teams in this format, your piloting skills were still exceptional. While it was in a format you were somewhat unfamiliar in, you clutched up many times and I’m glad for that. Unrelated, but when I saw the fabled chicken arc post while scrolling through Smogon forums, that was the most I ever laughed because of this site LOL.

Acehunter1 : Please stop giving people a heart attack when you’re running down timer LOL. In all seriousness before I got into this tour I knew you were someone that the team could rely on in this tournament, and it showed. I often times asked myself “How tf did this man even pull that off” after every win you won because of your ability to find a win in each matchup.

Heysup : This man may be a boomer in comparison to some other players I know, but my god is he an absolute unit. Your knowledge on older generations is incomprehensible to me, and the amount of teams you just have in the back doesn’t fail to impress me (Seriously, 163 DPP Rain Teams???)

TyCarter : I remember first meeting you in Canada’s WCoP tryouts when we were paired to fight against each other, so I was glad to see you on my team in a format you were well familiar with. Hope to have you around again sometime in the near future.

Camden rineko : I know that our DPP record wasn’t particularly the best in this tournament, and I’m sure you’re aware of it too. Just wanna say don’t beat yourself up over it, and the records don’t show who you are as a player. Even if this team tour wasn’t the best, I wish you both good luck in your individuals or any other tours that you are currently playing in / have signed up for.

Returnz : Didn’t get to see you play much in this tournament sadly, but I did see you a lot in the Pokemon Showdown LC chat during room tournaments or for just chatting there. Hope to see you shine more in the future, as you do have good potential in playing within this format.

jscurf : The ultimate benched player. Even though you never got to play a game, which I would have loved to see, you were still a great presence to have in our group chat and were an amazing hype man to have.

Splash : Sadly didn’t get to know you much, but I wish the best for you.

Once again, I’m glad to have been here for this tournament with everyone on my team, and I hope to be around when LCPL and LCBC begins.
