Pokemon: Cragjingle
The Too Early Pokemon
Type:

Steel.png

Gender Ratio: 50/50
Ability: Levitate | Punk Rock | Soundproof
Stats: 75 / 90/ 65 / 80 / 50 / 95 BST: 455
Moves: all of Chingling's and these
Physical.png
Rock Slide, Rock Tomb, Rock Throw, Rock Smash

Special.png
Boomburst, Power Gem, Echoed Voice

Status.png
Sing, Perish Song, Stealth Rock, Rock Polish

Total: 48
Weight: 5.3kg
Height: 0.7m
Flavor: Chingling evolution if it's holding a hard stone. It's jingle bell rock, alright? I'm not trying to get clever.

Expected Playstyle: It's a decently fast offensively aligned support pokemon. You could slot them into either attacking role or just as a screen/rock setter. They'll do ok.

Downsides: It's a Chimecho with better speed and worse defenses, it's not gonna do much.

Problems: who knows christmas songs?

Wait I've got a better one!

Pokemon
: Mr.Shine
The Heat Blister Pokemon
Type:

Steel.png

Gender Ratio: 50/50
Ability: Thermal Exchange | Flame Body | Green Christmas*
Stats: 50/ 60/ 65/ 115/ 130/ 100 BST: 520
Name: Green Christmas
Effect: This Pokemon sets up harsh sunlight and while under the effects of harsh sunlight all contact moves used by this Pokemon become Fire Type with a 100% chance to burn.
Permanent: No
Mold Breaker: No
Moves: all of normal Mr.Mime's and these
Physical.png
Vice Grip, Crush Grip, Fire Lash, Flame Wheel, Spirit Break, Chip Away, Rage, Solar Blade, Sunsteel Strike

Special.png
Fiery Dance, Fire Spin, Flame Burst, Heat Wave, Incinerate, Alluring Voice, Disarming Voice, Nature's Madness, Echoed Voice, Flash Cannon

Status.png
Sing, Sunny Day, Encore, Lucky Chant, Smokescreen, Spotlight, Teeter Dance

Total: 89~ (I was not rigorous checking for duplicates)
Weight: 58.2kg
Height: 1.5m
Flavor: They call him Heat Miser, he's Mr.Sun, he's Mr.101. He's too much. Evolves from regular Mr.Mime if you Sun Stone while it knows Mystical Fire.

Expected Playstyle: It's a decently fast special attacker, Screen Setter, and a bit of a special wall. You could maneuver it into being a reasonable physical threat with Thermal Exchange and Encore, but you're still building up from base 60. You have a few reasonable options of how to run it, and some silly coverage moves.

Downsides: It still has fairly low HP and Physical Defense. If you can't get a burn or Reflect up early on there's a nontrivial chance of a single supereffective physical move making you regret sending it out.

Problems: I should have figured this out earlier.

i wanted to make a starfish mermaid thingy based on the ave maris stella hymn, since although it’s not strictly a christmas song, i think it’s close enough and pretty easy to work with thematically… competitively i thought a bulky pivot and wish passer would be pretty healthy, and it can choose between its signature ability to heal more or misty surge for status support (although that would restrict it from using its STAB draco meteor, but i thought the dynamic between both abilities was pretty cool since misty surge also lets it be a status absorber… (oh and also it removes sanctamaria's own dragon weakness which is something...))

(first ground incandele and now dragon paldemaria smh……)

Meloetta-Kalos
Ice-Normal
Stats:100/77/128/128/77/90
Ability: Fur coat, Soundproof, Soft Carol*
Moves: Meloetta moveset + Boomburst, Nasty Plot, ice beam,

Description: Meloetta Kalos is one of the rarest Pokémon on the planet. The only one ever discovered is accompanied by the champion of the kalos region, Ansha. She remarks she received it from a trainer she met there, and over the years its body grew out into this new form. It now sings softer tunes, of tidings of the Christmas spirit. Based on Christmas caroling. If you put the notes on her hair in a piano, you get a Christmas song.

*Soft Carol: all sound moves gain a 20% damage boost, and heal 20% of the damage done.

This is a VERY strong Pokémon. Boomburst nasty plot with agility and healing is broken. If we need to nerf this. Someone tell me I have ideas.

Uncthulhu-The Ancient Pokemon
Uncthulhu are powerful psychic pokemon who's intelligence is beyond comprehension. It is said that during the winter months they trick humans into thinking that they are one of them in order to invade their homes for warmth, food, and comfort. To those unaffected by their hypnosis the host will often claim them to be some family member everyone just doesn't remember, spreading madness in the house as they enjoy a nice dinner, tease the youngins, and proceed to nap on a couch or armchair until it's time for them to depart. Legends say they can create entire worlds from a post dinner nap.

Design wise it's a round middle aged man, I'm talking egg shaped, mixed with Cthulhu. Complete with tentacle moustaches, possible slime or mucus coating to look like typical uncle clothes, and a bald unc head. I decided to take the prompt in a more mundane direction by making it that one family member who kind of drives people crazy in the first half but is napping once they get food in you and that one family member your parents remember but you probably haven't seen since you were four. I had trouble finding a good concept until I thought of cthulhu so ... Uncthulhu. In terms of color schemes I imagine the typical dark greens akin to cthulhu and the shiny ... is just Zoidberg because what is Zoidberg if not cthulhu but as a bumbling middle aged man.

Artboard 1 copy 11.png

I tried making a sprite for today but couldn't execute my idea, which is really unfortunate because this was by far my favorite idea so far (both for the visual design that's stuck in my head, and competitively).

Base Stats:
105 HP / 95 Atk / 90 Def / 50 SpAtk / 110 SpDef / 70 Spe / 520 BST
Abilities: Corrosion, Poison Touch, (Hidden) Earth Eater

Pokédex Entries:
  • Santa Red Edition: Gristletoe lure in hopeless romantics during the holiday season with their innocent exterior. Though their bright colors should be an immediate warning of toxicity, people and Pokémon alike fall for Gristletoe's antics anyways, often getting badly sick in the process.
  • Pine Green Edition: Don't be fooled by their cute and innocent exterior: Gristletoe are incredibly toxic! They lure in those desperate for love and then beat them down.
Moves:

More moves can be added like the universal moves, but these are the most important ones.

Description:
The following paragraph is incredibly rambly and only discusses the visual aspects. If you only care for explanations on what this Pokémon would do for the metagame, skip to the last paragraph.

Since there's no art for today, I'll try to explain with words what I was trying to go for. I originally had the idea of a fateful encounter with a lover beneath the mistletoe, and when thinking of what type to go for I realized they'd almost certainly be a fairy type. I wanted to try and diversify the typing of this submission, especially as the majority of all advent submissions have been the fairy type (I would imagine at least, there's been a ton). That's when I thought about a fateful encounter instead with a dark, toxic lover beneath the mistletoe who tries to lure you in and then beats you down. Lo and behold, after some light research it turns out that mistletoe itself is actually toxic. The idea seemed almost perfect. So, I took to previous Pokémon designs and decided that a mix between the elegance of Gardevoir with the cute exterior and plantlike body of Steenee would be a good place to start. Add in a hint of alt fashion, Christmas ribbons, dark and moody colors, and pops of bright to represent toxicity, and you have what I was trying to go for with the design for this mon. Unfortunately, I can't make anything remotely humanoid, and I can barely make anything that's stylized, so there's no sprite for today's advent submission. Not even a sketch. Spent over four hours tormenting myself over this, and I'm too ashamed of what I came up with to even show it. Hopefully the moodboard helps you get the picture.

Gristletoe has an amazing defensive typing with multiple resistances and immunities, and only one weakness. Their base stats lean towards them being a bulky wall that spreads poison and offers general disruption. Toxic, Toxic Spikes, and Poison Fang are the main ways to spread poison, with the last doubling as a low power attack. Knock Off is likely the only attack that Gristletoe needs, as it removes items and deals notable damage thanks to same-type attack bonus. Gristletoe has many moves that lower the opponent's stats such as Charm and Pounce. Strength Sap is of note here, being a thematic addition while also providing them with a form of recovery. Gristletoe has three amazing abilities that all can be used effectively. Earth Eater is likely the strongest choice, as this replaces Gristletoe's only weakness with an immunity, further boosting their defensive capabilities. Corrosion is a more niche choice that allows Gristletoe to help out on teams that struggle vs steel and poison types. Finally, Poison Touch enables Gristletoe to spread poison even more through spamming contact moves like Knock Off. Though this Pokémon won't be sweeping teams, they can slowly chip them down over the course of a match while enabling other teammates and acting as a defensive backbone for them.

Appearance: A large, black, feline creature. The body is rather stalky, It stays on fours, and has a loose red bell collar around its neck, with the bell itself being mercury-esque. The dark grey fur across the upper half of its body makes it appear to be wearing a tightly bundled shawl, in which the bell is inbetween, making a pouch.

The most notable feature on a Jólaklaww is its giant frontmost left claw the size half of its body. They’re long and serrated, going to form crooked metal structures. There’s four claws on that paw, each having a mirror-esque look. It holds its left front foot raised, with it closed to its mouth.

Its belly has seemingly randomly assorted stripes, some being dark grey, others being white, and some being a lighter grey. The underside of its paws match the belly.

Description: These pokemon are known to not like being seen first in Winter. When it is surprised, it quickly spins with its claw to kick up debris into a small cyclone, using it as cover to hide.

Jólaklaww make their appearance at the end of each year during the coldest months. If you deep spot claw marks on your window, you should quickly buy new clothing. If you haven’t by the time of Christmas Day, your house will be ripped to shreds, and especially anything important to you. Those whose home was ravaged by a Jólaklaww often look Older.

It’s thought that part of the way Jólaklaww refined toxins in their claws are by preying on other poison types. Whenever it sharpens its claw, it also thoroughly coats them, causing an iridescent shine. Organics even pricked by that claw decay faster.

In the other months, Jólaklaww can be docile, creatures. They often sleep a lot longer in warmer seasons. As calm as it may seem, do not touch it. Its claws can age the skin, and its temperament can quickly change by the person.

Sometimes in the fall, it can be seen knitting patches of its looser fur, changing parts of it to fit seemingly items of clothing.

Note: In the spirit of Christmas, I combined the Yule cat with the old lady that is said to own her into a large claw wielding cat. The Yule cat, or Jólaköturr, is a giant Cat that is said to eat those who didn’t receive new clothing on Christmas. So why stop there? Why not destroy the whole house? Big metal scary acid claw.

Mirrelette
Magic Mirror Pokemon

Typing: Steel/Ice
Stats
: 70 HP / 60 ATK / 80 DEF / 100 Sp. ATK / 105 Sp. DEF / 95 SPE (505 BST)
Abilities: [Shattered Reflection] / Levitate // Mirror Armor

Shattered Reflection:
"When this Pokemon’s typing changes, it gains the Imprison effect and becomes the center of attention."

Dex Entries:
“It is a snow spirit that picks up pieces and shards of shiny metal to decorate itself, and thus naturally shines in brilliant white as a result. It is said that the metal pieces that Mirrelette picks up are actually the shattered fragments of a mirror that reflected the ugliness of the world…”

“This Pokemon is said to be created from the frozen longing of people and Pokemon whose hearts were encased in ice. Anything that reflects from Mirrelette’s magic mirror becomes drained of their beautiful and lovely aspects, leaving behind only the cold visage of eternal winter.”

Notable Moves:
Physical.png
: Body Press, Foul Play, Ice Shard
Special.png
: [Revelation Ray], Aura Sphere, Blizzard, Flash Cannon, Freeze-Dry, Ice Beam, Steel Beam
Status.png
: Aurora Veil, Haze, Heart Swap, Iron Defense, Moonlight, Snowscape, Trick

Revelation Ray:
Special | Normal
90 BP | 100.0% Acc. | 15 PP (max. 24)
Does not make contact

The user fires a bizarre ray of light at an opponent that magnifies their contempt and animosity toward the world. The typing of this move will change to reflect the user’s primary typing.

- Becomes the same type as the user’s primary type.
- Triggers the effect of Reflect Type on both the user and the target after dealing damage.
(This would swap both Pokemon’s typings with each other.)

so i saw the prompt and thought that it would be pretty funny to make a mirror pokemon, since your reflection *is* someone that you would encounter on christmas (like any other day :p)... i also wanted to reference the devil’s mirror in the snow queen fairy tale in mirrelette's theming since it made sense to connect the two :p

as for the competitive side i took a page out of mirablo’s self hatred (sorry zxgzxg) and gave it a way to hit anything 4x effectively by transferring its steel/ice typing to them with its signature move, but to balance it, its stats are pretty average and it isn’t too bulky even when it steals a good defensive typing… i thought the competitive design and theming were pretty cool so i hope you like it too :3 (also apparently this is somehow the first ice type i’ve made for this contest too)

Aegibash-Polar.jpg

Adobe killed off my license, but I think the hand drawing came out pretty well (kinda)!
Pokémon: Aegibash-Polar
Type:
SteelIC_Big.png
ElectricIC_Big.png

Base Stats:
60 HP / 50 Atk / 110 Def / 140 SpAtk / 80 SpDef / 60 Spe / 500 BST
Abilities: Magnet Pull, Minus, (Hidden) No Guard
Pokédex Entries:
  • Santa Red Edition: For generations, Santa has been attended by these Pokémon, which used their magnetic power to manipulate and control people and Pokémon.
  • Pine Green Edition: Though it looks like Aegislash, Aegibash is an entirely different species. The resemblance seems to be a coincidental result of environmental adaptation. They have adapted even further to the climate of the North Pole.
Moves:
  • SpecialIC_HGSS.png
Triple-Staff Bash*, Zap Cannon, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Discharge, Volt Switch, Parabolic Charge, Charge Beam, Ice Beam, Blizzard, Aurora Beam
  • PhysicalIC_HGSS.png
Body Slam, Magnet Bomb, Wild Charge, Supercell Slam, Spark, Ice Hammer, Ice Shard
  • StatusIC_HGSS.png
Thunder Wave, Magnetic Flux, Electric Terrain, Charge, Snowscape, Aurora Veil, Mist
Additionally receives all moves which Aegislash learns, except for their slicing and ghost type moves.
Don't worry, Aegislash already has Magnet Rise.
*Triple-Staff Bash: Electric type, 30 Power, 90% Accuracy, 16 PP, Special, Contact, Hits 3 times, each with a 20% chance to paralyze the foe.

Description:
Aegibash-Polar is both a covergent species and regional variant based on Aegislash. There are three distinct sources of inspiration for this Pokémon: Depictions of the North Pole in media, the magnetism of the North Pole, and a three-section staff. At first I was struggling to make the design look more complete, then I realized that I could incorporate aspects of Aegislash, which really made the design come together.

Aegibash-Polar functions similarly to Magnezone as a way to trap opposing steel types and eliminate them with ease, enabling allies that are otherwise walled by steel types. While Magnet Pull is the most alluring ability, No Guard can also be used in tandem with Zap Cannon and Blizzard to hit even harder and spread status. Aegibash-Polar's signature move, Triple-Staff Bash, is another way to reliably spread paralysis, though this comes with the caveats of imperfect accuracy and being crippled by Rocky Helmet. Given their associations with the North Pole, Aegibash Polar learns some ice type moves, allowing for potent bolt-beam coverage. While this Pokémon is far from perfect—lacking reliable recovery and being incredibly slow—on the right teams Aegibash-Polar will be a force to be reckoned with.

Pokémon: Celebi-Elf

Typing: Fairy/Grass

Base Stats: 120 / 70 / 125 / 70 / 125 / 90 (BST: 600)

Ability: Unionize (This pokemon, upon being hit, enters a double battles format, in which you have two pokemon out, and the opponent has only 1 pokemon out. You summon a random LC grass type or fairy type pokemon which is at 100% hp and at level 95. However, neither celebi nor the little cup pokemon can switch out. The LC pokemon has the same moves as celebi, no item, and the ability is randomly chosen from the available choices (or if they have any premade sets for like Baby random battle or something use that idk man). The LC pokemon is replaced at 100% hp every time Celebi is hit. When either Celebi or the LC pokemon faints, they both faint. Also, the LC pokemon becomes a new slot, kinda like a 7th team member. If this is kinda dumb and OP then just make Unionize a renamed version of parental bond or something.)
Relevant Moves:
Physical.png
: U-Turn, Power Whip, Leaf Blade, Solar Blade, Wood Hammer, Play Rough, Spirit Break, Knock Off, Zen Headbutt, Psycho Cut, Body Press, [Present]

Special.png
: Dazzling Gleam, Moonblast, Energy Ball, Solar Beam, Earth Power, Giga Drain, Signal Beam, Psychic, Psyshock, Future Sight, Weather Ball, Make It Rain

Status.png
: Calm Mind, Iron Defense, Encore, Helping Hand, Follow Me, Leech Seed, Synthesis, Nasty Plot, Stealth Rock, Swords Dance, Bulk Up, Ally Switch, Toxic, Spiky Shield, Coaching

Looks/Flavour: It's Celebi but an elf. They've been trying to unionize for a long time, but Santa won't let them. Idk man I had no idea what to do for this lol.

Description: Tanky, with bad offenses and an alright speed stat. Grass/Fairy is an alright defensive typing, with 5 weaknesses (including a 4* weakness to poison), but also 6 resistances and an immunity to dragon. Its ability is pretty gimmicky, but I could see it working well, although it is very luck-based, as the LC pokemon you get as an ally is random. It can also be very annoying with moves like encore, follow me, leech seed, toxic, ally switch and synthesis. It also gets Swords Dance, Bulk Up, Calm Mind and Nasty Plot for set up. You could even use body press, as it does get like iron defense and bulk up. I could see it running like maybe life orb if you wanna go for an offensive set, or maybe leftovers for that longevity.

(Bad image cuz im abroad)
Pokemon: Sawsbuck (Everwinter forme)
Type: Normal/Fighting
Base Stats:
85 HP / 110 Atk / 80 Def / 60 Spa / 80 Spd / 100 Spe - 515 BST (40 points ahead of Regular Sawsbuck)
Abilities: Snow warning, Serene grace, Crowned visage (Hidden ability)

Crowned Visage: This pokemon has STAB on all horn-type moves

[This has Sawsbucks moveset]

Relevant moves:

Physical: Horn leech, Double edge, Thundering ram, Frostskewer, Flame charge, Megahorn, High Horsepower, Close Combat, Zen Headbutt

Status: Swords dance, Helping hand, Aurora veil, Encore, Charm, Leech seed, Chilly reception

Thundering ram: Deals damage, may cause the target to flinch (Phys, Electric, 16PP, 95%ACC, 85BP, 20% Chance to flinch)

Frostskewer: Deals damage, may lower the target's evasion (Phys, Ice, 24PP, 90%ACC, 95BP, 30% Chance to lower evasion)

If this mon's relatively low attack lets it down, consider giving it U-turn.

(Moves in Bold are Horn-type moves)

So I'm in England with family right now, but that doesn't mean I'll miss these last couple days! Sawsbuck-E asks a fairly simple question: 'Will several very strong coverage moves make up for unimpressive attack and speed stats?' I don't know the answer, but just in case the answer to that question is no it can also work as a (admittedly slightly awkward, without U-turn) snow setter / Aurora veiler, potentially for itself even!

Beartic-Canadian
Type: Ice-Fighting
Stats: 95/110/80/70/80/50
Ability: Ice Down*/Slush Rush/Swift Swim
Moves: Beartic Moveset + Chinook*

Chinook: 80bp/Ice/15pp/100%acc
Changes Ice downs form.

Ice Down: Changes ability every time it uses Chinook. Form 1 Fur Coat. Form 2 Ice Scales.

Just a bulky guy. Based on my country, which is part of the arctic circle. Prob too broken again. I think I’ve single handedly made multiple uber level mons so Snaq can nerf this if they want.
Maybe remove Bulk Up. Anyways Merry Christmas everyone. Also he’s very low quality.
