Muri(ca) Christmas Rec

here is ure brambleghast team: https://pokepast.es/a343ad282c8c9731 (no one saw first blash dirge hushh)

brambleghast: its just max and max and surprisingly covers many top tiers mons such as hoopa-u, prim, and iron crown. Power wiph and poltergeist are stab, bullet seed is for donphan, and skitter smack is for hoopa-u. (this is so strong btw, it gets through physdef pech)

skeledirge: although this makes it a double ghost team, skeledirge cover a lot of brambleghast's weakness' such as spectrier, corv, and goodra-hisui. It bulks jolly cb meow knock and timid specs kyurem draco. standard drige move set.

kyurem: best thing I could find to close out the team. it bulks roles against scarf tusk cc and specs volcanion overheat, 282 speed to outspeed max speed dragopult with scarf. standard kyurem moveset.

this team has to set guess some mons like raging bolt or pecharunt though I think it might to be expected considering brambleghast isn't exactly known to be good in 1v1.

ps:kinda does lose to custap hoopa but who clicks endure vs a brambleghast?!!?!??!? Also booster speed roaring and custap rhyperior but they don't count.

pps: don't roast me if the team is bad

Happy holidays happysh! I was given SV Keldeo and BW Arcanine to work with.

keldeo.gif

https://pokepast.es/c4c0e12b9720e840

Immediately I found Keldeo to be pretty unjustifiable. You lose all the dragons/random ambiguous matchups that Walking Wake has in exchange for a better darkshifu and.. registeel.

The most painful part was that specs doesn't even have a way to consistently beat ursaluna without investing a ton of bulk that would make running a specs keldeo moot.

-1 252+ Atk Guts Ursaluna Facade (140 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Keldeo: 288-340 (89.1 - 105.2%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO
kapow

Thinking about "how does a keldeo actually win a game" I figured the best thing it could do is run weakness policy cm and cheese a weak zapdos or bellibolt or av crown. I also gave it reflect like in bw to be able to handle luna without dropping speed (lets you cheese ada meow) or special attack (really need every single point for rolls).

Keldeo @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Justified
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Surf
- Secret Sword
- Reflect
- Calm Mind

:haxorus::volcarona:
The immediate thought for a partner was hoopa to cover fairies/appreciate grounds being hit but I dont want to make my third beat lorb zap. I ended up picking haxorus as a prim check since its good at handling at a lot of disparate threats that I dont want to struggle with like bolt, meow/darkrai, and wellspring. This hax is evd for specs beam volcanion but its mainly here on this team for misc. random hits like moth gleam.

I really wanted to put a cress last since cress/hax is a core I've liked in both ss/sv and it would solve the sylv issue but unfortunately we currently lose to spect. The sylv is evd for scarf volcanion sludge + bandot.

arcanine.gif

https://pokepast.es/0bee0ba5f84924d6

My first thought was that I wanted to try out stall arcanine, which isn't really ever seen in bw. Notably over sableye, it counters gene which is otherwise too unpredictable to handle. Unfortunately the pool of mons you instantly win vs after hitting wisp is a bit slimmer. I gave this max speed for mons like sawk and kyurem and then used the rest of the evs to eat burned cb rhyp rock wrecker while maximizing hp.

Arcanine @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 172 HP / 84 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower
- Snarl
- Will-O-Wisp
- Morning Sun

:metagross::tornadus:
I don't really ever build bw but crustle, latis, torn and pz all seemed pressing to not be ambiguous against. Metagross also appreciates the soft-ground checking that this arcanine does.

My 3rd needed to cover chomp, helm cress (doesnt seem too real but i've def seen it and its not the type of thing I like leaving unchecked) and waters. Scarf cress seemed obvious at first but I don't really want fire+2 hard lose to gene as a preview and snarl arcanine seems pretty wisdom tooth removal as a rona counter. We prob lose to stall zap but I dont build bw gg.

Pce !_!

Happy Holidays Clarex, here's your Sandy Shocks team!

:sv/sandy-shocks::bw/volcarona::sv/ogerpon-wellspring: <- click on the pokemon to access the team!
This mon actually had some good usages in Pre-HOME, so i decided to search for some old spreads from back then, but i ended up finding a more interesting one instead.

neomon made this set, it beats all Iron Valiant variants as well as outspeeding Corviknight, with the rest of EVs in SpA to secure these match-ups. I didn't mention Primarina because of This Calc: 208+ SpA Protosynthesis Sandy Shocks Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 72 SpD Primarina: 320-378 (87.9 - 103.8%) -- 25% chance to OHKO, this is only against Specs though, you're good against other prim variants since you have Protect for Custap Berry, which also helps against Skeledirge. I was also considering making a Weakness Policy set for the longest time due to screens being able to cheese Primarina and Manaphy, but the Encore games are too strong, so I discarded it.

Volcarona helps hit Grass-, and Ice-types as well as beating Ogerpon, this also patches up the giant Spectrier and Hoopa-u holes that i was figuring out how to even clear, overall this was the perfect fit to the difficult problem that was presented to me, I also decided to give it Substitute over Giga Drain, since your purpose is to just use the berry to beat Ogerpon, you can use a different move other than Giga Drain, I chose Substitute in order to have a slightly better Donphan match-up.

Finally, I had the idea of putting Ogerpon-W as a pokemon in the team in the first place but I had little idea on how to integrate it, but I think I ended up fine. Rock Tomb is obviously for opposing Volcarona (no way they're charti surely) and you beat every Primarina, FOR SURE THIS TIME, as well as other grounds like Ursaluna as long as they're not packing Counter and a ton of physbulk.

The main obvious counter is Donphan, since you have to guess whether it's going to Head Smash or Earthquake your Volcarona and if you have to Substitute or not depending on their decision (also if it's like Rock Tomb or Expert Belt or both it's ggs). As mentioned previously, physically defensive variants of Ursaluna are also trouble due to their positive match-up against Offensive Ogerpon, unless you can somehow setguess and go for Rock Tomb into Encore until they are in range for Ivy Cudgel.

That's it for me, have fun with the team!

Merry Christmas!!!

MIST CRESS **i know u didnt ask, but i did this one just for fun :) **

https://pokepast.es/5795f07619a151f8
  • Can't decide between clear amulet or leftovers? Why choose, when you can be both!
  • Speed is default to be above fast Primarina, but can be higher if you need a Sylveon counter
  • Doesn't beat Eerie Zapdos, so watch out for that
  • I recommend using as a lure for Bellibolt. For no specific reason whatsoever, I REALLY started to HATE that spherical, Regieleky-wannbe. Again, ABSOLUTELY no reason WHATSOEVER
    • (https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen91v1-2504194750?p2 **Should've sub t1, ice t2, then draco t3, but still was savable if I'd just sub or reflect t5 and then win with draco + life orb self damage, BUUUTTT, the little gremlin crit so it wouldn't of mattered anyways. Also, sorry for the rant lol)

MIST GRANBULL **Granbull straight from Delemon in the meta discussion Discord**
https://pokepast.es/385654e7b474ca74

Will be explaining any non-obvious matchups starting from rank S in the Viability Rankings (dm if u need any more clarification)
  • Primarina
    • Sunny day will let u guarantee live even vs specs Hydro Cannon
  • Spectrier
    • 252 Timid life orb needs 3 hits to ko Heatran, so just Flame Charge t1, again t2 if you don't expect disable,
    • if you do suspect disable set, sunny day t1, flame charge t2 and t3, then overheat
      • u lose to sitrus spec if they cm t1 + t2, then shadow ball t3 +t4, but there's a good chance they'll attack or disable t3, so solarbeam t3 then overheat t4 for best odds in this scenario
  • Wellspring
    • Pretty straightforward, but if they're leech seed, flame charge until they seed you (sorry for the sus wording) then sunny day cause they are 100% spiky shielding; depends on evs but even if they live, they won't be able to afford a substitute
  • Zapdos
    • All 3 mons are pretty dead into most Zap sets. No thinking for granbull, hope to outlive hurricane then out pp zap for Gliscor, and Heatran hopes for no eerie or charge zap, so only use if u think the zap is a roost/uturn set - evident if the rest of their team is weak to Hoopa-U or Primarina
  • Annihilape
    • A bit tricky, yes Granbull will activate Defiant, but will beat sitrus bulk up standard set assuming they bulk t1 and not counter,
    • If they're band, you're screwed, but u have a slim chance. They likely have cc, phantom force, gunk shot, and either ice punch/earthquake/outrage. This 4th move will decide everything, so base this on ape's teammates and what its trying to cover. If ice p or outrage, choose Heatran, hope they think yr chople/custap so they dont click the fighting move, chage t1 then overheat t2 for a roll. If earthquake, gliscor wins. If u can't tell, Granbull and hope gunk misses
  • Volcanion
    • Gliscor is the only option, don't even think about Heatran
  • Bellibolt
    • TURN 1: SUBSTITUTE.
      • IF THEY DIDNT MUDDY WATER, PHYSICALLY SMILE!!!! :) :) :)
    • TURN 2 - INFINITY:
      • IF THEY ARE WEAK, THEY WILL FORFEIT. BUT IF THEY WANT TO SUFFER THE LONG GAME, GIVE THEM NO MERCY!!!!
  • Rhyperior
    • Always gliscor taunt t1 to be safe
For Granbull, ice punch, earthquake, psychic fangs, etc. can all replace giga impact based on your preference.

Again, happy holidays! ^^

On the last day of Crammas my true Cram gave to me, a Cram in a Cram tree

I love Cram, you love Cram, we all love Cram but my god is it buns. I settled on this set as it beats most Metagrosses by spamming Surf to get the Gulp Missile damage. Belch/Endure is unironically needed to secure the Custap Primarina matchup while Air Slash is basically the only other coverage going apart from Ice Beam. Air Slash might beat an Ival so it wins. Adaband Meow helps for Corviknight and Pecharunt, AV ursa balances out the frail guys. Didn't like the comp benches much so changed it to Specs Hoopa with some speed investment.

Merry Crammas bern!

Merry Christmas delemon!
https://pokepast.es/3a898c08360ab850
Pretty standard lorb Keldeo (as standard as a keldeo can be), just fast(ish) and strong so it kills things
Fez beats a lot of special attackers, and taunt helps it beat stall-y builds
Lando is good physical damage while kinda being a physical wall with intimidate
banded Urshifu rapid strike is sketchy as u gotta guess whether its fast or slow. If fast fez bulks ada band surging and will KO back with play rough, if slow go lando and fly kills.
Kinda loses to espathra and maybe some other niche psychic types, so sorry bout that!

Merry christmas Regional Manager
https://pokepast.es/b4addeec89d6cdfd
sableye benches lo volcarona i think.
Tink+sab really is the best way to use sab imo, outspeeds min speed manaphy rest in hp and attack
Decided to stick to sets compendium set for walking wake, might want to bulk iron hands if it doesn't already.
Struggles vs taunt spectrier, setguess wellspring, and kind of zarude.
apologies for being late

Merry Christmas llamaledgend!

:iron-bundle: :entei: :hoopa-unbound:
https://pokepast.es/41fe6c6a0369de8f
the combination of chilling water and sub allows bundle to beat most ursas. click sub t1, if they impact or tect you just win. if they're band and clicked eq t1, chilling water to live and kill with pump next turn. if they're orb and attacked t1, sub until pump kills. booster spe helps vs scarf mons like meow and also gives you a chance to outplay custap mons like the aforementioned ursa and shifu-r. I'll be honest I cannot remember what evs on entei are for but it should beat the things it's supposed to like hoopa and atales (flame charge beats spect). hoopa helps strengthen some of our sketch mus as well as beating mons like prim (u have 45% odds vs specs which is bad but u beat everything else), cress, and raging bolt (evs are for bolt). unfortunately wouldn't describe this as a banger team but should be loadable and hopefully fun to use.

:gallade-mega: :charizard-mega-x: :venusaur-mega:
https://pokepast.es/fa1e0570a69caf88
full disclaimer: I don’t know sm well enough to explain these sets well, but I think the team is at least loadable. gallade-mega is eved to bulk scarf pz beam and outspeed other pzs. zard-x helps you beat more than half the tier and venu picks up fairy mus including fini and prim. hopefully you get some use out of these, and sorry for being kinda late!
