NFE's First Ever Secret Santa
hosted by me, Horii, and sleid | art by doom | format stolen from ZU Secret Santa by Mirbro

Welcome to NFE's first ever Secret Santa! We'll be honoring the spirit of Christmas by giving each other the biggest gifts there are - a brand new NFE team, designed around any Pokemon you want. We're building for 2 weeks. Be sure to hop in with your request - you'll also be given one, but we are always around to help build. Let's share the christmas cheer!

General Rules:
Post "in" or whatever else you want to (as long as the intent is clear) to join.
Don't sign up if you can't guarantee that you'll be able to finish building a team in time. We can help build, but we would prefer you put the effort in to build first.
Avoid telling people what request you sent or got - this is meant to be revealed once your team is, too.

Submission Rules:
Each request submission should be sent to us through Smogon private messages or Discord. Be sure to send these in before the deadline.
We will look at requests case-by-case. For a better chance of getting a good team, we recommend submitting viable Pokemon - you can try your luck, though.
If you want your requested Pokémon or core to have specific sets, you're allowed to mention it. Please do send the set details of the set you would like in PMs.
After sign-ups close, I'll use the same PM each user sent with their request in order to let them know the Pokemon or core that was assigned to them.
Once you're done building, post the team you made on the thread and share the gift (try to add a small description or replays to make your gift even better!)
You don't have to wait until building deadline to share your gift; share it whenever you feel like you're ready!

Recommendations:

Don't be afraid to join! We're always available to help you with building or finishing off a team - it happens to everyone.
We encourage testing your team out - battle testing is always great, and the NFE community is always up for a game or two.

Key Dates:
Signups end + requests sent out: December 14th @ 11:59 PM GMT-5
Building + posting deadline: December 28th @ 11:59 PM GMT-5

Merry Christmas to all!

Merry Christmas Meth Master aka Next Tuesday!

:sv/tentacool: :sv/dusclops: :sv/tinkatuff: :sv/frogadier: :sv/monferno: :sv/krokorok:

You requested Tentacool, and I wasn't sure what I could do with 35 base defense and Mareanie typing, but I think I made it work. Its role on the team is a defensive pivot, being able to somewhat comfortably switch into dragons, fighting-fires not clicking coverage moves, and the special attacking waters, and either spin, chip with surf, pivot out, or spam tspikes. I went surf > knock because i missed having it and already EV'd to outspeed pig, although it leaves you with nothing to do against clops/ghosts except pivot out. Clops shores up Tenta's shortcomings in checking physical attackers willing to click ground/elec coverage, and Tink handles the rest of the special attackers. Frog/Monf are the offensive threats, and Krokorok offers an extra defensive piece, EQ, and with Resttalk, a reliable source of Knock that allows the CB monferno to use Tpunch.

huge thanks to H to the Izz-O (you better be hxmo) and Terracotta for helping me test this out

Merry Christmas Finchely !!! You asked for a Hakamo-o team and i am very happy to oblige!

:hakamo-o::tinkatuff::fletchinder::seadra::girafarig::servine:
Hakamo-o is a nice little cross between Scraggy and Fraxure so i wanted to build a set that sort of incorporated the two. I wanted to make it a bulky DD so it could live hits while recovering back with Drain Punch. I made sure Drain Punch can OHKO Band Pilo after Stealth Rock, while you also live an Ice Shard even without Eviolite! I chose Taunt > Sub to shut down healing from Ivysaur, Encore/Twave from Tink, Quax Roost, etc. Helps take the guessing game out of Encore stuff with Tink.

Fletch Seadra core is quite obvious at this point to be one of the best against pilo, thwackey and fires. Giraffe is nice for speed control + a wincon of sorts. Play Rough tink is so you're not forced to knock on incoming Sliggoo-hisui and other tink so they cant get rid of scarf if it gets tricked. Servine is a solid check for special attackers and helps knock off stuff like ivy for Haka. i tested it against some other players and it did pretty well! Haka swept twice in three games. Hope you like it and have fun with it!

Merry Christmas doom !
:sv/porygon: :sv/koffing: :sv/gabite: :sv/quaxwell: :sv/duosion: :sv/monferno:

Porygons a silly little guy. Full hp and spdef investment with a download boost makes it a pain to deal with if it gets a free turn. Charge beam helps pory snowball more and being a scary breaker if it can get alot of boosts. Team is mostly standard but i paired pory with a future sight duosion to help pory not be switch in fodder for the fighters. Scarf gabite also is helpful in quickly picking off porys rougher mus like tink and the fire starters.

You gave me one tricky request Dead by Daylight , considering the last time I've seen SS Grotle was almost two years ago, and I always found it difficult to build since it doesn't have the most straightforward wincon. It has a lot of potential, but the struggles of building around it are that it's at best a mid-game breaker, or an endgame breaker if you get rid of that one mon that counters its dependent set. In theory, Grotle has "that potential" to break the balance structures, but requires a lot of precision and lures before it can truly do anything, which forces you to play in a 5 vs 6 type of game plan. Because you picked a Pokémon that lacks documentation and made me think a lot, you'll receive 4 teams (or 1 + 3 modified structures), as a result. The only thing I wished for was structuring progress with less longevity, and more forceful offense, such as Monferno w Rock Slide + Grotle n such, but my brain fried out at that point. Merry Christmas, and thanks for hosting UMPL while at it <3

A HO structure I stole from Pandadoux to make my own. Grotle can act as a mid-game wallbreaker to break against Sliggo-H, Fletchinder, and Knocked Physdef Ivysaur. Endgame may exist in certain circumstances, but how I visualized it makes it act as a mid-game wallbreaker. Croc > Wartortle mainly because of Sliggoo-H MU, and it helps you vs like setting up vs Piloswine or subbing behind non-Giga Drain Ivysaur from Morgrem. Admittedly, HO is my weakest aspect, and I may have overextended in some aspect. It's possible to change the Grotle set to make it more approachable vs something like Dusclops and such, so if you notice issues, don't be afraid to make changes.

Here are three similar teams with some slight adjustments, and that's pretty much dependent on the Grotle's set. The annoyance of building Grotle is being forced to bring a poison type for more balanced, structured teams. Not sure if I am pleased with them, but I did end up building a team that gave me some SS NFE vibes, where I spammed bulky with many setup mons.

Grotle's set appreciates the team finding a way to wear down Dusclops and cripple Grass types, and then remove the hazard control as much as possible. You're gonna be forced to play this slowly, but otherwise, there's a lot of wincon setups if given the opportunity. Btw, make sure you avoid Dunsparce to get paralyzed; a burn would fit more. Dunsparce keeps an eye on Piloswine teams, but has a very grimy setup, especially when you've worn down the opponent lol.

Seadra > Quaxwell since Poison Point and Ice Beam 2hko's non-Eviolite, physdef Ivysaur, which Grotle cannot break with the set. Special Grotle has underwhelming wall-breaking potential, but having access to Giga Drain helps massively vs Dusclops MU. So essentially, get rid of Ivysaur, and this team will cause problems. Dunsparce has Glare because of no Surf from Seadra. I felt like SD Fletchinder could potentially sweep, given the right circumstances, without Surf Seadra. Stunky is Rest/Talk Knock + Temper Flare to pressure Ivysaur and not being affected by Para from Nuzzle Hattrem.

Saw some interesting lines with Quaxwell, and wanted to build this again. The biggest changes are Grimer-A > Ivysaur, a similar idea to Stunky, but Grimer has more bulk, power, and doesn't particularly get bothered by Glimmet MU. This is a team that can be vulnerable to Fraxure if not careful enough, but otherwise, you want to hyper-focus on pressuring Ivysaur and its cores. A weird change I decided to do is adding agility to Dunsparce because I had enough resistance vs status, and I felt like making it a stronger cleaner fits in here, way too well...

Merry Christmas Diana Burnwood aka Horii!!

:murkrow::piloswine::Thwackey::fletchinder::seadra::tinkatuff:

Here is your Murkrow team. Murkrow is a very neat mon I have wanted to explore for a while now. I decided to run a mixed AoA pivot Murkow with Heavy Duty Boots for this team. It can pivot out on key checks, like Tinkatuff and Quaxwell/Seadra to get in Piloswine or Thwackey to break open opposing teams. Murkrow, Seadra, and Thwackey also form a nice pivot core. The Fletch-Seadra defensive core is one of the best in the tier, especially against Piloswine, opposing Thwackey and prominent fire types, such as Monferno or Raboot. I experimented with Quaxwell, but I figured this core would not fold as easily to Band Piloswine, which is a huge threat to the rest of the team. Tinkatuff placement is obvious, as it is the best Stealth Rock setter in the tier. This also gives you some extra help against Drakloak, who is one of the few faster then Murkrow, just to make it second guess clicking Draco.

I hope you like it!!
