Appellate Judge
All administrative decisions pertaining to the seventeenth edition of the Smogon Premier League will go here, with relevant precedents from previous tournaments linked below. As always, the general tournament rules and guidelines are in effect for SPL as well.

Player signups and retentions will close at <t:1767301200:F>.

SPL XVII Week One will begin on January 12th.
 
re: dice and Signing up to Bench

Prior to signing up for SPL, dice tagged all managers in the Smogon Tournaments Discord, stating he wanted to lock himself out of every tier and bench, as well as saying he isn't sub-able.

Even if we were to remove dice's signup and allow him to sign up again, his communicated intent to not play effectively poisoned the well, making it impossible for managers to take any signup of his at face value. As such, dice's signup will be removed and he will be barred from this SPL edition.

The TD team has decided to clarify the rules regarding signing up with the intent to bench/not play in SPL/SCL. As a reminder, "if you would not consider seriously playing a tier in a tournament, do not list it." This includes signing up for a tier with the intention of benching. Doing this will result in being barred from the tournament and will lead to an infraction.

This has been clarified in the current SPL signup thread and will be the status quo moving forward.
