AITA for not feeding my lobsters

recently i started working in the seafood department of a grocery store and i've noticed that the lobsters don't get fed ever

i've brought this up with my manager and he was like "it's fine lol they don't need to be fed" but sometimes when i look over i notice them fighting and trying to flip each other over so they can eat each other alive. i brought this up with some of my friends and they were really encouraging me to feed them because it's "inhumane" and "starving them"

personally i don't really want to risk my job by feeding them and plus they can always just kill each other if they get hungry enough. AITA?

Techincally, you are not the asshole. I would recommend doing research online and looking up proper store procedure first before feeding them. If store procedure is to not feed them then you can choose to not feed them and thats fine!

If you feel like you must feed them because lobsters are a part of God's beautiful choir too then I would recommend looking up what they eat in captivity. You may purchase some feed and discretely feed them. You can also just feed them out in the open. Who cares?

i was thinking of charging extra for the lobsters that successfully cannibalize each other since theres more lobster per lobster. they can be put in their own premium tank separate from all the loser lobsters

kantian philosophy would argue this to be a preposterous trolley of thought (see what i did there). kant would argue since you are basing the ethic on a hypothetical (is the lobster good or evil?) rather than on the action taking itself (is it moral to starve the lobster?). what you should instead be looking at is the morality of the action, or more specifically whether your action as precedent would be beneficial to the world. as such, the question you should be asking is not "what if the lobster is evil" but rather "if lobsters are not fed, evil or not, is the unfeeding of good lobsters unethical?"
