Think of a guy

my expert take:

dude - can be and usually is used very gender neutrally because let's be real "dudette" is a horrible word

man - can't really be used gender neutrally unless it's specifically like an exclamation ("man, was that cool" and the like)

guy - weird mix of the two where using it to describe a single party isn't really gender ambiguous, but using it to describe a group of people is slightly more unclear in that regard while still very clearly having a bias. ("i like that guy" vs "i like those guys")

whether you should use these in these ways will vary based on the people you are interacting with at the moment. some people aren't cool with gender ambiguous usage of 'dude' being directed towards them and you should of course respect their choices. but i think this is an ok rule of thumb to follow just in general when you don't have any other supporting information to go off of

When I say guy I think of shy guys

Guy who spends all of his money lobbying the government to strengthen antitrust enforcement and increase taxes on the wealthy despite being a trillionaire businessman

how elon musk was moving before he called the leader of an earthquake rescue team a pedophile and abandoned his trans daughter and offered to pay 6 billion dollars to fix world hunger if UNICEF could create an open source plan with it just to buy twitter for 8 times that amount a few months later and also did a nazi salute on national television and helped the current president of the united states win the election through definitely legal means in order to get billions of dollars in government funding to construct shitty cars that keep blowing up
