Rain Abuser (Overqwil) @ Life Orb / Mystic Water
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Tera Type: Water / Ghost
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Crunch
- Liquidation
- Swords Dance / Taunt / Spikes
With it's good attacking options, great ability in Swift Swim and a solid defensive typing that provides useful resistances to priority moves from the likes of Grassy Glide Rillaboom and Sucker Punch Kingambit, Ghost types attacks and the ability to absorb Toxic Spikes for the benefit of it's partners, Overqwil it's a powerful wallbreaker and late-game cleaner with valuable defensive utility for rain teams. Gunk Shot is a solid STAB option that doesn't make contact so it doesn't risk taking a Flame Body burn from Moltres, Static paralysis from Zapdos or Rocky Helmet while giving the ability to fish for Poison against targets that Overqwil doesn't threaten inmediatly like Dondozo or Alomomola. Gunk Shot also provides crucial coverage against threats like Primarina, Iron Valiant, Rillaboom, Ogerpon-Teal, Serperior and Ogerpon-Wellspring. Crunch is another solid STAB option that compliments Gunk Shot being able to hit Ghost types like Dragapult, Pecharunt or Sinistcha super effectively. Liquidation allows Overqwil to hit Ground types that otherwise would blanket check it and threaten it with super effective attacks like Ting-Lu, Landorus-Therian or Great Tusk. The last move is flexible: Swords Dance allows Overqwil to become a powerful win condition, Taunt allows Overqwil to beat in 1v1 situations checks like Dondozo or Haze Toxapex by denying recovery, and Spikes provides Overqwil a way to support it's teammates. An Adamant nature is prefered because of the power boost, but Jolly can also be used to outpace threats like Booster Energy Iron Valiant, Scarf Darkrai, Scarf Meowscarada and speed tie with +2 Ceruledge under rain, which are considerable threats for it's usual partners. Life Orb can be used to gain an universal power boost, but otherwise Mystic Water powers up the coverage of Liquidation. Tera Water can be used to power up Water type attacks and gain a resistance to Scizor's Bullet Punch at the cost of being vulnerable to Rillaboom's Grassy Glide and Raging Bolt's Thunderclap, but Tera Ghost can be used to block Rapid Spin in a pinch on sets that use Spikes, but it makes the fish vulnerable to Kingambit's Sucker Punch
It should be noticed however, that Overqwil's only niche in OU is finded on rain teams, since otherwise it's unimpressive speed outside of rain and it's mediocre bulk make it unable to leave any sort of impact. Overqwil appreciates teammates that can remove hazards, because otherwise it's worned down too quickly considering Life Orb recoil and hazard chip. As such, Hatterene and Iron Treads are good partners for it, specially Eject Button Hatterene since it can bring Overqwil safely to the battlefield without having to take a hit. Overqwil also has good synergy with Raging Bolt, that can threaten the common checks of Overqwil while bringing it up safely with Volt Switch. A rain setter like Pelipper or Politoed is mandatory, but the latter is prefered because it can bring Overqwil and it's teammates safely with U-Turn
