Pokémon Day 2026 - Pokemon Winds and Waves coming 2027! Champions April 2026

My issue is more that this is the second time around we've had a grass bird for a starter, and a water lizard for a starter.
also apparently Browt might be a chicken?

Ok, so for what is relevant in the thread that piqued my interest:
  • Honestly disappointed that Mega Chesnaught and Mega Greninja has the same Ability as their Hidden Ability, akin to Mega Blaziken. (At least Protean is still pretty good.) Mega Delphox having Levitate doesn’t look VGC worthy at a glance, but being a Fire-type that evades Ground-type moves makes for a good Earthquake partner by covering Ice-type and opposing Ground-type.
  • Not too keen on Water starter of Winds and Waves design-wise, the other two looks cute and neat. I hope their evolution line will be good at the very least.
  • Winds and Waves are looking pretty and smooth for sure, and the 2027 release date is a massive shock given it’s the 30th anniversary. They probably don’t want a repeat of Sun and Moon by rushing out for the anniversary, so I respect that.
  • Not too surprising that Champions might potentially have a single player mode akin to PBR. Too early to tell what’s it all about though!

As long as they let me ACTUALLY CHANGE CLOTHES i'm fine.

I love SV but man the fact the customization for the char clothes was practically nonexistant outside of the DLC outfits still irks me.
Praise ZA for fixing it (though man, what the hell is a "skort", like, do those really exist or did they come up with those just to not make actual skirts, cause I never ever saw one of those irl)
Skorts are real things and fill a useful niche, those are not skorts.
...
Okay, I just googled to confirm, and there's two definitions of skort. The one I was aware of is a skirt with shorts underneath. It's what female tennis players(and other athletes) wear, so that the skirt can move easily while still keeping the player fully covered.
Per Wikipedia, there's an alternate version which is shorts with a fake front panel to look like a skirt, which I have never seen anywhere and is what Pokemon did.

I'm a sucker for beachy environments so Pokemon Waves actually looks pretty cool, this is the first generation of Pokemon games I'm at all interested in since Sun & Moon. It's also cool to see Pokemon Champions might have single-player content, hopefully it's on par with Stadium finally, and includes mini-games. That's probably asking too much from them lol

Also, apparently Pokemon FireRed & LeafGreen have been censored, which sucks. Not sure to what extent but at minimum it relates to naming stuff.

Hello, Game Freak! Just wanted to let you know, you seem to have forgotten to announce the planned date for Pokémon HOME compatibility with Pokémon Legends: Z-A in your Pokémon Presents video today!

It’s okay, we all make mistakes. Fortunately, there are still some solutions available to resolve this issue. For example, you can release a follow-up message on your social media channels!

… no? Ah.

Are we not going to talk about Pokémon XD for "free" in the NSO while frlg cost 20$.
"free"

I think the more notable thing to me is that they are putting out the sequel before colosseum, its going to be so much whiplash for new players of those games

the sequel that is more streamlined and normal pokemon game-ish followed up by playing the very frictiony prequel eventually

If you give them the very clunky prequel first, decent chance they try it, decide it's crap and not even give the other game a chance.
that's a good point, I was expecting them to release both at once but XD first works I guess

I think XD is a better pokemon game in nearly every way but I still enjoy Colosseum more because of just how weird it is
