Your reasoning is not incorrect, but fact is when we coined it as a noun it ceased to be (primarily) a verb form, unlike "Taunted", and for the sake of keeping Pandora's box of etymology shut I'd like to keep accepted exceptions listed here limited to pure verb forms.
