Pending Add Social Media Links to Showdown

Hello, I wanted to suggest that links to Showdown/Smogon social media get added somewhere on the Showdown client. I made a mockup of some places you could put it:

You could put it anywhere though, like on the "select a chatroom" under the current online user and battle count, it doesn't really matter. On top of promoting Showdown/Smogon's other platforms, one major benefit would be if the Twitch icon could have a "LIVE" indicator whenever there is a SmogCast happening on twitch.tv/SmogonU. It would make it a lot easier to get people watching streams that are happening at somewhat irregular times if something like this was on the main showdown page.

Either that or like, a pulsing red dot in the top right of the twitch icon or something. I don't know if that's possible but I've seen stuff like that on some sites when you have a notification, so I'm guessing it is.

Since you resurrected this thread in discord, I will just say that I (in my own capacity Social Media Leader and not necessarily on behalf of my co-leads) strongly support this idea and think it's great. If it's at all feasible from a PS dev side, we should definitely do it.

Since PS has font awesome I decided to try it out a possible approach using their icons, (X didn't exist 10 years ago and the version PS uses is outdated). You can probably make it look nicer but it does fit cleanly in the footer with all of the other links.

On one hand, a lot of people like Twitter more than X as far as the name/brand goes.

On the other hand, if we want a Discord icon, we really need to upgrade to a newer Font Awesome. Font Awesome has changed a decent amount and I don't really think for the better, but if we go with Font Awesome 5 and a compatibility shim, we could keep nearly everything the same and still gain a Discord icon.
