Metagame Champions OU Metagame Discussion

was mostly asking cuz we did this in ZA due to something along the lines of the meta becoming "hazard spam", then again i cant remember if it was also due to things like lacking proper removal, etc
za is a petmod, @ powers that be please do not mod this format further beyond allowing 6v6 gameplay I think it will take this format down a wrong path. Absolutely zero reason to keep making things up outside of convenience/familiarity/comfort

Here to leave my mark, being the new VGC format it may or may not become a huge metagame, so I want to make my early presence known for years to come.

Anyways, I really dislike the changes made to protect and how they made it 8 PP instead of what it has right now, like goddamn they nerfing every single defensive move lately to appeal to those folks who think anything that isn’t HO is stall…

I dont think anything substantial has changed in champions for ubers megas like gengar, mence, shell smash stoise to be legal. Although i think most should be tested
Mence doesn't exist (I would definitely support prebanning it if it did). And I agree that Shell Smash Blastoise is probably overbearing but there's no way to know for sure until we try it.

I'd also be okay with removing item clause. But that's it.
The items will return via updates eventually you can probably just leave it as is for now ig

For now i think this is accurate, but let's not box ourselves in. There is no guarantee future mainline generations will host 6v6 mechanics as we know them or can reasonably simulate. I dont think its out of the question champions becomes the defacto place for turn based battling

I don't mean adding new items. I mean getting rid of the restriction that two mons can't carry the same item.

Probably not the most popular position but I think it'd be interesting to test both Item Clause and Sleep Move Ban (due to the recent sleep nerf). The small roster allows for the council and playerbase to test fundamental clauses in a controlled environment, so now's the best time, as they're gonna release more mons over time.

I agree but we should also not do rotation like they do for VGC imo.

The item pool is already incredibly barren, item clause would make it even worse. But I'm open to testing sleep once the tier has settled a little and all the broken threats have been banned.

ah ic ic, yea we should definitely mod that out, just fundamentally not how we have played 6v6 in the past and would be really detrimental to the format.
This is kinda what im talking about regarding modding things in out of comfort and familiarity. At what point do you start calling a spade a petmod?

I think it would be unwise to jump to any conclusions and set in stone the initial bans and clauses implemented- aside from the obvious of allow 6v6, infinite battle clause and banning Mega Gengar, I think an "as accurate as possible" to the in game Champions mechanics to be the best initial decision.

We've never had a game specifically made and balanced for competitive play, let's see how things go before we start deciding on our own rules. If that will make for a fun metagame- who knows but may as well give it a chance.
