I think, I cant be more happy than I am right now. I and Team Africa, were rooting for both Peanut and sw since Round 6/7, seeing they were starting to have a good run and could pretend to maybe a semifinal. We were all hoping to have a final with one African represent.. and maybe an African final ?! It happened to become real, an African final in one of the biggest smogon tournament.
Now despite these two players being kind of new to you all, I will tell you why this makes the Final more hype than ever by telling these players stories with Team Africa.
Silent Waltz, formerly L lawliet, despite his hella old join date
and this WCOP in, he is relatively new and started playing sv OU around 3 years ago. He got his first Team Africa pick in 2023, where he basically just said "gg gl" 20 times. Fortunately for him, some players left or got banned and the format focused less on sv ou, which left a hole in the lineup, he made his debut in 2024, and became then a staple for the team. Him, the guy who brought Deoxys-Defense in Qualifiers tiebreaks, and Haxorus 3 weeks later, despite that made me think he was crazy as fuck, I understood that he was trying to go beyond and take risks, risks that he took in this Ost run this year, all that experience earned all over these 3 years of experience made him stronger and shaped to win this yellow trophy.
Despite sw being more experienced, SirPeanutCronch is not someone to underestimate. Even if he got literally invited by silent waltz into Team Africa by playing against him on ladder (couldnt find the log Nemosse will never forgive you), in less than a year he was from hoping to get picked as an helper in the team, to an OUPL player, and drafted to many PLs.
SirPeanutCronch You didnt had the season you wanted and that's normal one of your first teamtours, you hadnt proved anything and made some errors in games, due to idk, maybe bcuz of that lack of experience ? Take this WCOP as an example, learn from your errors and don't stop grinding on ladder,, in tournaments too, you have some skills don't worry.
This was what I said after you finished WCOP with a 1-3 score, as we say practice makes perfect, (I've never said that btw), and by never stopping playing OU day after day, you finally achieved in less than a year to do an incredible performance, WCOP and Official Tournament Final, you can be proud of what you've done and good luck my friend
In 8 days one of you will be remembered for his run and the other will be forgetted in 6 months, yall already contributed enough to Africa's history on smogon ! Now do your best to give us a good final and get that trophy guys.
